I know more of David Sylvian's repertoire. I absolutely don't remember how I could have associated these two songs together.... Thanks for listening and for your appreciation!
@@matt_oneI'm the other way around where I know a lot of Bjork's music. I haven't gone through your channel to look, but Joga is a great one, it's powerful. Venus as a Boy is another great one, I think with the creativity you showed with this one, I'm certain you can make something special 😎
Di lui in particolare l'album "Secrets of the Beehive". Purtroppo non conosco molto bene il repertorio di Björk. Non mi dispiacerebbe trovare una sua parte vocale che si adatti a "Ghosts" dei Japan.
@@matt_one if I may intrude in punta di piedi... I love "Ghosts" and in the Björk album where "All is full of love" is, you might find something you'll like, my personal favorites from "Homogenic" are "Immature", "Jóga" and "Bachelorette". All in all it's a very interesting album.
@EvilElf-71 Thanks for the suggestion! It is not at all easy to think of vocals that could replace David Sylvian's in "Ghost” (not that it needs to be, since it is perfect). Björk would be a good choice, but it still remains a challenge!
@@matt_one This is why I'm starting to believe that you don't exist as earthly and you are just a figment of my imagination. 😆 You seem to be able to achieve the impossible and make it a real beautiful reality. Glad I stumbled upon your channel.
I do exist! In the case of this song, as I told someone else, the ingredients were already very good to begin with. I added some sound, but what you hear is almost the pure fusion of the two. Thank you for your positive comments, I too am glad you stumbled upon my channel!
Well done!! The switching between Bjork and David is so well played! This did just reminded me of a song with Bjork and Thom Yorke from Radiohead that I had forgotten about for so many years! It was from a movie and I’m going to look it up now.
David's voice often reminds me of Scott Walker, its the eeriness he conjures up with his often tortured voice while Bjork here adds a sense of empathy.
I was trying to figure out what I'm experiencing from the song, and I think you said it well. For me, David's lyrics resonate with myself, not liking to be alone with my deeper thoughts, and then Bjork's verses comforting me and reassuring me that it'll be ok.
This offers a tantalizing glimpse of what might be if these two singularly brilliant and original artists were to collaborate for real. Thanks for posting.

@@mrbenn1489 I agree, absolutely a masterpiece! I bought the cassette when it came out. In 1989 I convinced a friend who didn't know David Sylvian to buy 'Secrets of the Beehive' on CD, telling him I'd buy it back if he didn't like it. Obviously, that didn't happen. Beautiful and intense, from the first to the last song. I also really like ‘Nostalgia’ and ‘Brilliant Trees’ from the ‘Brilliant Trees’ album, and ‘Taking The Veil’, ‘Before The Bullfight’, ‘The Riverman’ and ‘Upon This Earth’ from ‘Gone To Earth’. Then I love the ethereal ambient of ‘Plight & Premonition’ and ‘Flux & Mutability’ with Holger Czukay.😄👋
@@matt_one - your Sylvian experience very much mirrors my own. 'Brilliant Trees' was the first album, on cassette, that I bought. Culminating with buying the 'Weatherbox' CD collection, consisting of all of his early LP's, and one off pieces of music. Funnily enough I listened after many years, to the 'Spiralling of Winter Ghosts', just the other day. I kind of knew once I heard 'Secrets...' that he wasn't going to better it. It's perfect, and I revisit it regularly.
You snapped with this, it makes me happy to see david sylvian get more attention. The world deserves to hear david sylvian and Japans music i genuinely would not be mad if they had a tik tok blowup
My interest in the music of Japan and David Sylvian started before my twenties, in the mid-eighties. I doubt that a teenager today would have the same interest in listening to albums like 'Oil On Canvas', 'Secrets of the Beehive', 'Brilliant Trees'.... Let alone the patience to listen to things like "Plight & Premonition" or "Flux + Mutability".....
@@matt_one hahaha with out a doubt thats true for his later stuff, i started listening to japan heavy when i was 17 and i was born in 2000, i think todays youth have pretty eclectic tastes and theres so much garbage being pumped out that i think a lot of young people would latch on to this stuff. Maybe there is a reason it hasnt happened yet tho for the most part lol
@@hendog5667 I think it is always a mistake to generalize. As it happened to you just recently, many young people today could easily be interested to a lot of music from the past. It's the way and means by which music is consumed now that have changed tremendously, if I think about how I used to do it in the 80s/90s. I had no Internet and most of the music I owned was on tape. Even just going from one track to another was not so immediate, it was not a simple click. That somehow forced you to listen more carefully to an entire album, even the songs you liked the least. Now you have an amount of choice and a quickness in going from one thing to another that probably adversely affects the attention devoted to listening to anything. The medium used to listen also matters, so there are a variety of genres of music that you simply cannot listen to from your smartphone. You can't listen to “Secrets of the Beehive” through smartphone speakers, much less “Flux + Mutability” (which I had not cited as a negative example, since I love it).
Thanks! It's too easy when you have great songs like these. What I've done is not meant to be better, it's simply a bit different (hopefully interesting....)
Danke fürs Zuhören! Ich weiß nicht, ob Stays Gesang zu Björks Instrumental passt. Passt wahrscheinlich besser zum Instrumentalteil von "Darkest Dreaming“
Beautiful song, but rather difficult to get your hands on. A piano song with a very different structure from 'Darkest Dreaming', which has a more regular rhythm. Also not easy, what song could it be combined with?
Thank you very much for your words. I think there is undoubtedly a lot of talent on Mr Sylvian's part. What I do, however, is simple theft and plunder....
@stuartwittering2215 Thanks a lot again! If my sound experiments can serve this purpose, great! However, David Sylvian's music should be appreciated in its original form. Those who don't do so don't really know what they are missing....
I think the combination of songs was a brilliant inspiration, but I found the volume of the percussion in the mix far too prominent. Just my uninvited opinion. But I still enjoyed it very much.
Thank you very much Robert! I'm glad you liked my experiment. As for the drums, they are on the same level as the original song, as it's actually Bjork's original song, so there are all the sounds mixed in, drums, bass, synth.... Initially what you're listening to is the instrumental mix, obtained by removing the vocals with a specific app, because I needed an instrumental part for David Sylvian's voice, until 2:30 when Bjork's voice comes in. So from there on it's exactly the original mix. With some exceptions, because I added some sounds, but they are mainly non-percussive sounds taken from David Sylvian's song, or some synthesisers that I added. So, in my opinion, the problem lies in the first part, the part where David Sylvian sings, and the problem is not so much the percussion being too high, but the vocals being perhaps too low.
Although I had no intention of achieving perfection, I think I can agree with you. I just hope that, with its imperfection, this was not so unpleasant to listen to.... Thank you for listening!
@matt_one dont get me wrong, i loved but i was like " It would be great without the effect" i praise you for the idea and for the making ♥️ but really i would adore a second version with David pure Voice
Maybe not much changes.... But I guarantee that David Sylvian's voice is now exactly as it was isolated from the original song. In the version in the video it was processed by going through a delay and a reverb, but very lightly. I removed those effects, but probably the impression you got comes from something else....
