Byul's vocals are so underappreciated. She carries the lower harmony throughout this whole thing perfectly while the other girls are going off. So she basically carries the melody so the girls can hit their notes and show off their vocals. That's how a group works.
She's the backbone of mmm for a reason

i think that byul is the bass of the group, underrated instrument/music but it will be incomplete without her

This has to be the most incredible and unlikely performance in a K-pop competition: four girls simply come out on stage and sing. No dancing, no backup dancers, no fancy props. Those vocals - simply amazing!

That's becoz they never stopped singing live on events since debut, on TV or not. Performing and singing on different stages is their training. This group will just get better and better as they become older.

But Wheein tho, man, she's just naturally gifted. For Moonbyul, well its a step up now that's shes singing. For Hwasa I kind of agree she's the same in terms of vocals. But that girl's presence on stage just gets better and better.

All the members improved their singing style specially Hwasa, you can see from their rookie videos in Immortal Songs that she always like to give full power from singing high notes, giving a whistle or a head voice also having that growling style.. some people say that using that growling style can be difficult and painful.. But over the years you can see her calm down and just relax, not straining her vocal chords that much.

Came back to this from season 2 and I got to say, season 1 is really in its own league
True right, even though i don't really know the other group beside mamamoo, aoa and park bom when i first watch it. But overall they all (all group) dominating every stages. Not that i hate queendom 2, but i don't really see any of them succeed in dominating the stages just like queendom 1 do (except for hyolyn perfomance of course XD).
Queendom 2's audience are so dry. I think Hyolyn and VIVIZ are the only contenders in QD2 that are bringing life to the show. No offense meant but QD2 really is so boring. QD1 has much better groups than QD2.

I'm so glad this is their song choice. I'm so happy Wheein is finally recognized for her heavily, soothing yet powerful and extremely well-controlled voice. I know Hwasa and Solar usually get the hype for their strong and unique vocals, but truthfully, Wheein always was my favorite vocalist. I could listen to her voice and not get tired for years.

Tbh Wheein has probably the most versatile voice of the three. I swoon over Hwasa's voice all the time because it's so unique, and I wish I could have the power and resonance of Solar's voice, but Wheein can do so much with her voice, and it's amazing how low or high, nasal, head or falsetto it can sound so different. The three of them are amazing vocalists!

People are used to Solar's power but forget about how amazing her techniques are to control that power for delivery. The way that she injected emotion into her vocal and projected to audiences is really incredible and we can see why audiences all got hyped up by that powerful belting in E5. It is not about how high the note was but that strong feeling delivered by her vocal. She also changes her vowels during those beltings to produce beautiful sounds in different ways. Her lower notes are also easily overlooked by her shining powerful high notes. She did that early to setup up an emotional bass before they changed keys. The heavyness that she brought to the performance for me was just a stylistic choice and she has the techniques to do it completely differently. Most importantly, that power took the emotion of the song into a different level that could strike our hearts deeply and make us in tears without knowing what lyrics are. She is really talented to resonate almost every chambers to produce that strong voice and we feel it in our years, head, and chest. I always feel that the resonance was directly from her mouth but the heavyness moves my heart. I think this is why I feel so connected with her voice.
BTW, all of the members in Mamamoo are so talented and they literally brought distinct beauties into this performance. It is so great to see them all shine in their own ways. Each of them is a strong sololist, but when they work together they amplify their power like magic and make any of their peformance become epic!!!!

멜론으로 들을때랑 또 다른 느낌 휘인목소리 ㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ 흐어..
원곡이 워낙 높고 어려운 노래라 경연에서 잘만 소화하면 대박, 그렇지 못하면 큰일날 수도 있었던 무대였음.
결과는 우려했던게 우스울만큼 원곡보다도 더 완벽하고 파워풀하게 찢어버림.
굳이 화려한 퍼포먼스가 없어도 보컬만으로 얼마나 큰 감동을 줄 수 있는지 보여준 가장 '마마무다운' 무대인듯.
마마무 팬들을 위한 잔잔한 노래는 타팬과 대중들에겐 자극이 약할거라 잠시 생각했던 제가 우매했습니다...감동 그자체네요

온갖 퍼포먼스로 한 표라도 더 받아야하는 경연 프로에서 단 마이크 4대만으로 무대를 꾸미는 건 왠만한 자신감으로 되는 것이 아닌데....마마무 대단하다
ㅇㅈ 안무나 컨셉에 엄청 신경쓰면서 경연을 이기려는거보다 마이크 네개 세워두고 정말 팬들을 위한 영상에 노래에 가사도 개사하고 '순위 욕심보다는 무대를 잘하고싶은 욕심은 있다' 하고 말하는거 너무 멋있음....
