I got a black gi, because it was cheap and I could wash with my other coloured clothes. I have a white gi for judo but is a pain because I dont have many white clothes
Have to say I’ve never run into the black gis as either standard issue or as reserved for black belts myself. They’re just one of the gi colors that are the next step off of traditional in most places in my opinion Thanks for leaving a comment to share your experience!
I went to s Gracie school in another country for a day. I wasnt from there, just visiting. I handled the instructor very easily. I was not BJJ belted. Just Judo and Sambo then. They told me if i came back I had to buy a white Gi from them. I also had to aggree to pay for a year. The Gi was over $300. I told them ill only be here for 3 weeks. I didn't go back. The Gi was a $50 Gi at best.
White gis do tend to be harder to keep clean - blood can be rinsed out with cold water and stain treated before washing. Blood getting on your gi isn’t all that common in my experience though
Clothing doesn't show your rank in BJJ... Unless you're a purple belt, then you need purple rashguard, purple tape, purple earmuffs - otherwise the world won't know that youy're a purple belt.
Straightforward answers to common questions…very helpful.

My old school only recommends white gi, because he has white mats
That mat color consideration definitely makes a lot of sense, thanks for sharing that I hadn’t thought about that before
@@jiujitsujunction but he had his old martial art school you could wear any color gi, due to the mats being red and black

I love my black gi, it’s way more versatile for washing like you said, I do the same thing. Thanks for watching!
Uhm is it ok if we choose to have two gi of different colours instead of only having one?
You can have any many his as you like, I own 3 personally, thanks for the comment
Why didn't you talk about black gis? I've heard in some schools they're reserved for black belts, but in my school, they're standard issue.

Some of those gyms are wild like that haha I prefer gyms that are more relaxed
Doesn’t a white gi immediately get blood stained?
