In 1990 I was going to see Nirvana during the week, and raving at the weekend to burgeoning electronic scene in Sheffield. Musicians were obviously doing the same, experiencing new music, sounds, influences, advances in affordable technology that allowed you to experiment
I grew up listening to 90's Ministry never knowing their music roots or genre shift. I have to say I love this Ministry as well! Glad we can find gems like this on RUclips and learn more about the musicians we love.
Synthetik Films is Stevo playing any drums or is it a drum box? Sometimes it really feels he’s really playing but then in the middle 8 and the end there’s this guy in the white t_shirt playing percussion, which I guess should be him...
@@abelisraelcruzayuso4682 I believe there was a full drum kit set up behind John Soroka (the tall synth player in the middle) where I believe Stevo was playing drums. You can see him playing for a little bit during the "I Wanted To Tell Her" clip. Stevo appears to transition from the drum kit to the standing percussion rig during the bridge. The other video clips from the 1984 tour (e.g., the Exit show in Chicago) also show Stevo transition between a full drum kit and the percussion setup depending on the song being played.

I don't understand why Al would be embarrassed by their early work. Both phases of Ministry are awesome, there aren't many bands from that era that are remembered as well as they are. Would be nice to see Al do some new synth sounds, I'm curious what he would come up with these days.
Can't wait, I love watching old Ministry performances. I became a fan when Psalm 69 first came out, and when I went backward, I could never get over how they started, and am now one of those rare fans that likes all periods of Ministry from the Synth-pop to the Industrial Metal mayhem, its all awesome shit!
So great! Love all eras of Ministry, this one and Twitch in particular, heard this on the Rock and Roll Alternative in Dallas sometime in '83 and it was instantly a favorite of mine out of all the new music hitting at that time. Duran Duran, Gary Numan, A Flock of Seagulls, The Clash, Buzzcocks, Souixie and the Banshees, The Cure, and so many more....
This was a great performance on their part. What an old school cool and awesome quality video. Seems like a different lifetime entirely for Ministry. Cool to see Al and Patty on stage and Al lookin' like he's having a great time lol
i met him when he was playing Lalapolozza. Dude gave me his autograph and signed it Buck Satan. Due to my state of mind, I tore it up and threw it away. Can't believe this is the same dude.
Early years of The Ministry sect. Soft, danceable and naif 80 Funky-Tecno-Pop with strange look mix of Boy George (Culture Club), Martin L. Gore (Depeche Mode), Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie and The Banshees) and Valor Kand (Christian Death). The people change, some more than others. Uncle Al.
AJtheory Quite true... I'm thinking that perhaps Alvadido is a bit confused... besides what you pointed out... and unless I'm misinterpreting the first sentence... it seems to imply that Ministry didn't have the extreme changes in their musical style from this first album ... basically just honed their craft ... most of us know that they became the antithesis of this first album ... and quite quickly... and rinsed and repeated many times.
This is some of my favorite Ministry tunes from the 80's. I'v been a fan for over 20 years now, but I just keep coming back to the 80's and early 90's stuff.

Al can say whatever he wants in his desperate attempt not to lose cool guy aggro points, but I lost interest after With Sympathy.
Still can hear elements that evolved into the heavier stuff here
I don't understand why Al would be embarrassed by their early work.
Baddass handheld cam action ! this footage is awesome !
Back when they were big and heavy.
@@lesterawilson3 probably had a 20# bag that held the recorder part. And the camera part was probably 15#
This song has always been a banger. The 12" version especially. The base and rhythm guitar are funky as hell.
This is my favorite version of Ministry. I still never understand why Al decided to start sounding like Skinny Puppy mixed with thrash metal.
I like them here, but there's no denying that 'The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste' is a masterpiece.
@@kdphotos4691 totally agree there
This is unbelievably good. WOW. 😍😍😍
This video is great! Omg he was so cute back then.
Work for love and Just one fix my favourite ministry dance songs
one of my favorite internet videos ever. on the top 10 for sure.
Hard to believe he plays this live again now!

Damn this is good. Great song.
This is the definition of how you want a good song to go back in the day. THEY KILLED IT🔥
I’d be happy to write that song today!
Thank you for posting videos from this concert :-) I was there :-)
I also love his "242" front 242 sticker on his guitar.. What I wouldn't give to go back in time to see this live!
This was a great performance on their part. What an old school cool and awesome quality video. Seems like a different lifetime entirely for Ministry. Cool to see Al and Patty on stage and Al lookin' like he's having a great time lol
My favorite.
He needs to do a follow up album called "Without Sympathy"
holy shit that's good quality
This one is great too.

The real Ministry
THIS is the Ministry I love!!!!!!!!!! amazing footage!
Al looks ready to bust out his new track Everyday is Eileen.
No, I meant Come on, Halloween. Or something like that, anyway...
i met him when he was playing Lalapolozza. Dude gave me his autograph and signed it Buck Satan. Due to my state of mind, I tore it up and threw it away. Can't believe this is the same dude.
The 242 on his guitar perhaps a signpost to his future industrial route.
I feel strange watching this now at 52. Bizzarro world.
from 1980 to 2020.......................What massive progression...............you rock Ministry!
My favorite era of Ministry is all Ministry. Nobody else did so many. Al the Great.
Uncle Al.
Crazy the way it all comes together and then all the goodness. A masterpiece
Early on indicator of the path to follow. This is a gem. Love how this guy pays homage to 80's band of the time. Talent knows no boundaries!!!
AJtheory
Quite true...
This is great footage and great sound too !
I was in the audience,dancing
a fucking Front 242 sticker on his guitar. This is the greatest thing ever. Fuck yes.
Majestic to see the origin of impressive ministry 😎🔥 that recording is a gem! see how the concerts were really enjoyed. Since nowadays all types of concerts of any musical genre are held, the majority of the public spends their time recording or using their cell phones.
