I really like the "extra mile" of the blue guy and some additional mayhem for the crash site. (An easy explanation of the fire? A tank of liquid oxygen is leaking a jet of O2 feeding the fire... for now. Luckily, we caught this dramatic moment just right!) I hope there's a cyclorama in mind for the small office section. It cries for more building and some lunar soil. Lastly, maybe it's just my jittery nerves but I would put the base on a piece of luan plywood for a little security when moving the whole thing around.
Fantastic job, especially with the lighting effects and the addition of the "Earthbound" ship. Also, like the way you shadowed and contoured the base of the model. As I remember from the Moonbase Alpha Tech book, the round and triangular ends of the travel tubes were termination points for the travel tube cars and storage hubs for material needing to be kept at a distance from . the base. Can't remember which is which, my tech book is in storage. Great job. Can't wait to see how you secure it to a base. Thanks...
I don’t think I really had a grasp of the scale until you brought your hand into the shot. Really nicely done. That one set of travel tubes that connect in the foreground make no sense to me from a practicality standpoint.
Nice work! I have this kit in the closet and been meaning to build it for several years. At one point was thinking of making it into a clock. But whenever I get to it, I think I'll just do a wall mounted version that sits in a frame.
You knocked it out the park Boyd incredible work 👏 it looks better fully displayed like it is you get to see the base and the terrain of the moon jaw dropping work Boyd it looks great in low light 😉👍
Oh man, this is beautiful!! I've never seen this kit look like this. I really love the crashed flickering Eagle. That was definitely a nice touch! You went way above and beyond on this Boyd! Excellent work!!!
I Have Followed Your Video's For A While And I Never Thought Much Of This Model When I First Saw It And Even Dismissed It But I've Followed Your Work And Thoughts Through This group Of Videos This Moon Base Turned Into So Much More Than I Was Expecting . You Are Indeed A True Artist In Model Making . ; P - P.s. The Episode You Speak Of Has Always Been A Most Remembered Episode From My Youth Because Of Its Twist Ending.
Turned out great, Boyd! My only other comment is that it would have been nice to put some windows in that circular well that is present in that one building. It's a shame that Round 2 did not correct the staircase for Main Mission.
Love the alien ship, and yes you can have fire in space when fuel and oxidizer get together. I'd reflexively go for 1/2" plywood for the, uh, base to provide stiffness but I await your solution.
Outstanding build of Moon base Alpha Boyd, now you will have to do UFO Moon base with the space shuttle launch gantry and moon hoppers, as well as the Interceptors bases.
It looks great! I spotted the Kaldorian ship right away, although to be honest, I didn't remember what they were called. Now you just need to build a scale moon buggy driving across the lunar surface. I'm sure that shouldn't be too hard for you. ;)
Could you have put a light wash on the buildings so the details showed up better ? There was a lot of moon dust around them so they would probably look a little dusty. Excellent work !!!!!
The only thing that kinda bugs me is the scale of the travel tubes, they are a bit thick but that's a problem with the kit and not your build. You have done a most excellent job with what you got, and to scratch build that blue ship and add that crashed eagle is genius!
Nice.. Meantime if your still looking for a neat way to display your 22" Eagle there's this guy on Ebay that sells custom Acrylic stands for them. I just ordered one last week... The price wasn't to bad either
Hi Boyd, I was wondering how good did the Bridge glue down on the fresh off white paint...or did you have to remove paint where you had to glue the Bridge of the Enterprise Refit?
Love your channel, back in the day I built the first moon base model that came out, I see they added more landing pads because I believe the first one only had three. Could you tell me if you would What the kit number is and where I might find one of these, thank you and keep Modeling on!
A few people mentioned hanging it and it is a good idea. My problem is I don't have much space on the walls of my display room and what little there is left is reserved for a few more plane kits I want to hang up next to the others I have there.
@@TrekWorks I know it's a tiny room, that's why i thought hanging the base with the Eagle, Main Mission, A Hawk, comlock, buggy, and stun gun on shelves in front. But it's been a long time since I've seen it, and it was pretty full then!
Fred Frieberger AKA the series killer, was the producer for season 2. He was producer on season 3 of Star Trek which gave us such gems as "Spock's Brain" :(
It's amazing what you can do with a little planning, thought and creativity.
That's what modeling is all about :)
Yes sir and I enjoy every kit that gets built. Mostly I like to go above the kit and ad to it if possible.
Impressive Mr. a very detailed lighting without excesses, Bravo Great work very detailed, a greeting Boyd
Real nice job on this Boyd. Love all the little touches you added here and there. Love the sleeper ship too. The lighting turned out real nice.
Earth Bound.....is a great episode.
Awesome built. With teh control room communicator and stun gun a really great collection.

I should have put it on a wood base from the very start. i fought the flimsy thing all the way through.

The low light shots look like images straight out of the show. Great job, Boyd.
Thanks, it turned out like I hoped.
Great build Boyd! Love the lighting. Looks really cool!
Just outstanding work on everything Boyd form the coloring of the base to the lights just awesome!
Excellent Job Boyd, almost looks like you're really looking down at it from space
Thanks, I had a lot of fun working my way through it.
I was never into this show but I do like this series... something to learn from every video!
Another cool touch might have been modifying one of the pads to represent an Eagle being brought up on the elevator prior to launch.
I don’t think I really had a grasp of the scale until you brought your hand into the shot. Really nicely done.
That one set of travel tubes that connect in the foreground make no sense to me from a practicality standpoint.
They seem like they go to no where but they are supposed to connect to huge under ground facilities like where they build the Eagles, etc.
Awesome Boyd makes me want to dig my old kit out and dust it off keep up the good work always look forward to your videos
Absolutely Awesome, Boyd. I like the Easter eggs, Its good that you plan on displaying it separately from the other kits.
Thanks, yes it will be best to have it as a separate display.
Nice work! I have this kit in the closet and been meaning to build it for several years. At one point was thinking of making it into a clock. But whenever I get to it, I think I'll just do a wall mounted version that sits in a frame.
Hi Boyd! Great build with so much detail and passion! Cheers!
Thanks Phil, it's been a fun little project.
another awesome build Boyd. i only just recently watched this show. Really enjoyed it and actually have this kit in the stash
Thanks Gary, It's on bluray now and the models look even more fantastic. They were outstanding on this show.

Wow! It looks great in low light with the shadows showing detail.

She looks great, love how you did the lunar surface. 👍
Love when you turned the lights off!!! Very Cool Boyd!!!!
Turned out great, Boyd! My only other comment is that it would have been nice to put some windows in that circular well that is present in that one building. It's a shame that Round 2 did not correct the staircase for Main Mission.
Wonderful way to get 2022 underway.
Beautiful job Boyd! Moon base Alpha looks great in the light and even more spectacular in the dark with the lighting effects!
Love the alien ship, and yes you can have fire in space when fuel and oxidizer get together.
I'd reflexively go for 1/2" plywood for the, uh, base to provide stiffness but I await your solution.
That’s awesome Boyd, great job so far.
Gerry Anderson would be proud of you.
Great result with an "out of the box" kit. :-) Thanks for sharing
Great job! Best build of that kit I've seen!
Wonderful job on this kit. Looks fantastic.
This really looks good. You really improved this kit! Love to have a new series based on Space:1999.
I'd like to see a new series too.
Outstanding build of Moon base Alpha Boyd, now you will have to do UFO Moon base with the space shuttle launch gantry and moon hoppers, as well as the Interceptors bases.
Looking at those kit's now, lol :)

awesome looking build sir very cool
Looking great Boyd nice work.👍
Beautiful job Boyd.
Nice one!.. great TV series🎥 👍🇳🇿
This thing looks really nice.
W o W.. that really turned out fantastic.. The action burning eagle is awesome too.. Makes the whole thing for-me haha.. GREAT Stuff..

Looks. Awsome !!!

Excellent Boyd, excellent!
Really nice work. I love this.
Did you do a wash on the buildings to make the structure details pop?
That is awesome Boyd!

The kit number is MPC803/12
@9:47 -- Oh, yeah! THAT'S the right light level for it.
Gotta admit -- wonky science aside, S1999 had some good-looking models in it.
Where did you get the ship from Earthbound ?
Why not hang the moonbase on the wall with the rest of the stuff in front of it?
A few people mentioned hanging it and it is a good idea. My problem is I don't have much space on the walls of my display room and what little there is left is reserved for a few more plane kits I want to hang up next to the others I have there.

Do you know what the scale is of this model?
No, I don't.
Hypergolic fuels burn on contact. A readily available scientific explanation
Boyd if I wanted to send you one of my Models to work on how would I be able to get in touch with you about that ?
Sorry but I'm not taking on any work until this spring/early summer. I've got several projects lined up that will take all of my time.
Nice job. Simmons' fate was kinda harsh but I was glad to see him go. Just like Buck Rogers, the changes made in season two caused me to lose interest
Fred Frieberger AKA the series killer, was the producer for season 2. He was producer on season 3 of Star Trek which gave us such gems as "Spock's Brain" :(
@@TrekWorks I read that. Made changes just because and none of them made any sense. And liked to close the shows with a chuckle. Very annoying
