  • Finally! After an interminable run of theropods, PNSO gives us something new, the wonderful and very elusive Zuul!
    This is probably the best preserved ankylosaurid of all, and along with Borealopelta the best preserved nodosaurid, I now have both of the ankylosaurs I want the most. It’s a very welcome model, incorporating the latest research from both 2017 and 2022, and to actually have a near perfect Zuul is a wonderful feeling indeed. I look forward to more from PNSO, and if this Zuul is anything to go by, they promise to be wonderful as well!

      @@starbirds2464it is, it's on a 1:45 scale. It's a pity because a lot of collectors wouldn't mind paying around 150$ for a quality 1:35 PNSO sauropod. The alternative at the moment would be a 200$+ resin figure + 200$+ paint commission

    Glad to see you're back, and thank you for another great video. Hope you had a good rest!
    I actually find the paint to be pretty decent... Perhaps a light wash over the osteoderms and keratinous parts to help bring out more detail, but otherwise it lopks overall quite pleasing to me!
    Looking forward to your reviews on the new PNSO and HLG models!
    Edit: Wow it looks especially good with the HLG Edmontonia...

      Thank you I did indeed have a really good rest! 😁 But thanks to so many releases all at once I had to really work hard to catch up!
      I think it's great if you like the colour! Then you could get this without worry about making it good, or you could add the wash as you suggest. Me, I have zero talent and knowledge in painting, so I will have to just hope to get this done some day!
      I am sure you've seen some of the new PNSO and HLG reviews by now. Hopefully you'll have plenty to think about! 😁
      PS: The HLG Edmontonia looks so good next to almost anything that its present almost elevates whatever you put it next to!

    Welcome back, my dear sir. I hope you enjoyed your vacation very well.☺After PNSO's amazing and beautiful therapod figure run, here we have this pretty little Zuul. Even though this is a surprise to us all, it seems like PNSO had other plans. I think I like this Zuul more than Safari's one. Mainly because of the color scheme and because of the scientific accuracy. Even though, my dear sir, you point out some major inaccuracies in this figure, I think Safari Zuul is a lot more inaccurate. And sadly, for the size of this PNSO Zuul figure, its price is so damn high. And I find it quite disturbing. But the overall quality is number one, as always. Thank you so much for this wonderful review, my dear sir. Keep up the wonderful work. ❤

      Thank you very much for your warm welcome back! It was good to get a rest but who knew both PNSO and HLG would do a double release and it was a real struggle to find the balance to get everything done!
      Definitely, there is simply no contest between this and the Safari one. The only thing I prefer of the other one is that it is green! 😂 Somehow, I have always liked the green Zuul trope since Arbour's book, so if I have it repainted I will definitely have some kind of green in this one!

    I think the saturation of theropods was down to PNSO wanting to get their lipless theropods out of the way before reverting back to lips. In 2024 I think we’ll see much more diversity, although a lipped Wilson 4.0 would be most welcome!

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  8 месяцев назад

      I never thought of it that way, but it makes sense. It would have been jarring to have lips, and then lipless, lips, and then lipless and so on. I think we're good now though. _Two_ non-theropods and counting!

    Despite some issues, I quite like this figure! While I already have the safari, I think I’ll still try to pick this one up as from what I can tell it is overall more accurate. (Also for anyone wondering, judging by pics I’ve seen this is more or less the exact same size as the safari zuul.) I cannot wait to see your opinions on hlg’s Dilophosaurus, imo it looks incredible and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

    ¡Por fin un no-terópodo de PNSO! Y después vino Alamosaurus, así que podemos estar contentos. Una pena que siendo un animal tan completo, no hayan respetado más la morfología del cráneo del animal. Sobre todo siendo tan precisos en el resto de detalles. Coincido contigo en el pintado, podría haber sido mejor... Sin embargo, se nota que se trata de un modelo actualizado de PNSO, el detalle tan fino en la parte ventral y cómo los osteodermos "crecen" de las propias escamas del animal, y hasta el extra de una boca abierta sin "mofletes", todos esos detalles son de agradecer por parte de la marca. Un grandísimo logro y detalle en tu análisis, amigo, de los mejores. Un gran profesional 👏🏼👏🏼😉

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  8 месяцев назад +1

      ¡Ciertamente puedes ver todos los detalles! 😁
      Eso sí, en general el animal está muy bien esculpido e investigado.
      Me pregunto si las caputegulas imbricadas eran demasiado pequeñas para esculpirlas. O tal vez fue un desafío para el lector inglés interpretar el artículo. El documento era muy técnico y tuve que leerlo varias veces para comprender completamente la descripción.
      ¡Gracias una vez más por tus elogios! 😊

    I'm still on the fence with this one, at first I compared it to safari ltd zuul and what stuck out to me was the entire back side of the animal. Safari zuul seems to be very closely based on the promo material that museum showed. What stuck out to me the most was how the tail connects to the body, in safari it's a gradual taper with big osteoderms flowing down almost like a skirt. Here it looks like most Mongolian ankylosaur depictions with very wide hips and thin tail base. After watching your vid the "Asian style tail" might actually be more accurate. Going to the positives I like proportions of this figure, zuul had a rather small head compared to other ankylosaurs, making safari a bubblehead lol. Accuracy aside, I'm kinda dissapointed with the details of this figure, back looks awesome with that light wash, but the side of the body as well as it's legs look super flat and smooth, unlike other pnso figures with amazing detail. Will have to skip on this one and hope for Tarchia to release in near future

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  8 месяцев назад

      I'm hoping for a Tarchia too! Seems like there are a lot of genera that have somehow got neglected by the market, and I think at least this Zuul has fuilfilled what to me has been a glaring omission.
      The details are indeed off, especially if you look at the thigh integument. Then with the scutes, it's really puzzling. I mean, even the _promo_ images look lacklustre, and I wonder if there was a rush job with this model. The old Vitae Jinyunpelta has much better paint apps for the various keratinous bits.
      Zuul is one I have been so wanting to display with Borealopelta that I really believe I'll have this repainted.

    Excelente review! Concuerdo contigo, el trabajo de pintura de PNSO se ve un poco inferior al trabajo que han hecho respecto a la escultura que es grandiosa 😊 Me encanta que hayan hecho una figura de Zuul, ya eran demasiados terópodos 😅 Es una lástima que la cabeza no haya cumplido con toda la morfología que se tiene registrada sobre el cráneo, pero los detalles de las escamas del cuerpo y los osteodermos es muy gratificante! ☺
    Una pregunta: ¿qué otro ankylosaurio te gustaría ver por parte de PNSO? 😯

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  8 месяцев назад +1

      Ahora me pregunto si fue un documento desafiante para los intérpretes de inglés de PNSO. Tuve que leerlo varias veces para comprender completamente los caputegulae. Por lo demás, la escultura es realmente buena.
      En cuanto a los anquilosaurios, me encantarían estos.
      Anquilosauridae: Euoplocephalus Anodontosaurus
      Tarquia
      Nodosáuridos:
      Polacanto
      Edmontonia (aunque menos ahora que tenemos el modelo de HLG)
