Bill, excellent video as always. I got rid of my Kemper and decided to try more compact options but so far in my journey, I have not found anything that even comes close to what the Kemper gave me. I'v tried the Headrushes, the Line 6es, etc. I still have to try the AxeFxIII or their new compact version of that but as it stands right now, I am going back to Kemper soon. Right now, my latest gadgets I'm trying is the HX Stomp through a Seymour Duncan Power Stage 170 along with a whole bunch of pedals and it sounds great. But after a while, I do get the feeling of being limited even with the vast array of options in the HX Stomp. This is something I never felt with the Kemper. That said, this Mooer device does deserve a try and I may just have to check it out.
The Kemper's strength is in the plethora of profiles available and the ease of use once you download its App onto the computer. The app is very much like iTunes. Kemper have their own profiles and a community of thousands of dedicated users constantly uploading profiles to share with everyone. No IRs needed. No major tweaking. It does have a small learning curve however, but once you get familiar enough with it there really is no limit to what you can do. As with anything, there are some drawbacks. For example, some of its built-in effects aren't great BUT if you are a pedal guy like me, that's simply not a problem. That said, most of its built-in modulation effects would be perfect for what you do. The Kemper to me is a gateway that lets the user try any amp you would ever like to try and the profiles are hardly indistinguishable from the real thing. There are some tones from some of the profiles you would swear are coming from an actual tube amp. From what I learned, this is because the difference is that the Kemper is a profiler, not a modeler (although you can certainly model and tweak to the heart's delight). It's limitless which can also become a problem of having too much - or rather overwhelming if one is not careful. My problem was that I thought it was way more than what I needed and decided to downgrade but now I realize, there's just nothing like it unless you want to buy every single amp, cab and microphone out there that you'd want vis-a-vis the real thing. I'm saving money to get a Kemper again. And this time, I'm keeping it forever. So to answer the question what does Kemper have that others do not: thousands of amps, tones, effects and options that are as close to the real thing as you are ever going to get because they are profiles of the real thing. \m/

Ambient Music Studio Go for a Helix! Every block is fully assignable in the signal path and not predetermined (fixed) unlike most of the blocks on the GE300. All-in-one units avoid the multiple digital/analog conversions that happen in a pedalboard filled with digital pedals. That's good. However, they lack upgradeability and are not future-ready. What happens if you get tired of the delay, but still like the overdrive? What if Meris releases another super cool reverb machine with incredible sounds that your unit lacks? You are stuck. Hi Bill, thanks for the excellent content. I wonder whether you will do a review of the Ampero Stomp II ! Only if you have time - music has the precedence in this channel, as you wanted to be reminded! :D
Are you able to save loops and recall them by the foot switches? Or would you need to kneel down (live) and scroll around looking for and loading them? Thanks
One problem with most multi-effect as with standard pedals they don't allow for a detachable foot switch facility, so if using it live or in a rehearsal use you can't have the control section raised from the floor for manual adjustment on the fly. the only option would be to have a PC laptop setup which for studio use in fine but not so convenient live.
Nice review! Really informative and i liked the sounds, wanted to ask, can this unit pan the effects, mainly delays, pan them L and R in different timings? Or maybe run a single stereo "dual delay" pedal with 2 different timings panned?, stereo chains and parallel routing?
You could run 2 delays by selecting the delay block and one of the FX block. A couple of the delays modules such as multi-tap offer panning, so good there too.
Dear Bill; In my country, they are at the same price. So simple or complicated question i don't know,; considering only the sound quality (or realism) which one you would prefer? Headbrush Gigboard, Mooer G 300 or Line 6 HX Stomp? Many thanks for the video by the way.
I own the baby of the line, the GE100. It's noob gear, which suits noob guitar player me, but it does a hell of a lot for very little money. The GE300 is way beyond what I need unless I turn pro, but it similarly seems like a lot of functionality for the price.
I wonder what the USB port has in store. Just i/o, or a port for updating? I bought the HX Stomp and Helix Native plugin a while back. The thing I wonder about the Mooer GE300, is if it stuck in time, like the Roland and other multi-effects pedals of that style. If so, price versus performance may break down for me. Helix, for example, is about to release 2.8, which is going to be a core re-write of the software the hardware line and Helix Native plugin run on, as well as 8 new amp and cab sims, a bunch of new effects, and a bunch of other tl;dr stuff. A bunch of the guys that were at Digitech are now on the Line6 team, and in the future they're going to do all manner of pitch and synth effects. The HX Stomp + Morningstar MC6 MKII and an expression pedal is fairly astonishing combination that you may want to investigate. The limitations of the Stomp, for me, are in the 'foot control' department, and the MC6 MKII and an expression pedal more than fix that. In fact, with the addition of those control elements, I don't know why anyone would buy the more expensive Helix stuff. That said, outside of live applications, nothing beats the Helix Native plugin for me. It's so powerful I'd be tempted to actually figure out a way to get a laptop and i/o and shove them in a road case. The Helix Native plugin is actually ridiculous, if you ask me. I got it for $72 with a combination of the $99 hardware discount price and a holiday sale (St. Patricks Day; lol). Idea for a video: Download the Helix Native Demo, and review it! I dare ya! Can't hurt, because it's free for for 15 days! :) *Also, once again, great video! I had no idea Mooer was doing things like this!
The USB port is both for recording audio to your computer and for updating. If you look on the Mooer site, you will see a 1.1 firmware update out there. I will check out the Helix plugin!
I'm a bit hesitant to buy any more Mooer products. My Mooer Black Truck just stopped working after 6 months, and I barely used it. So I'm concerned about build quality.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I will probably go ahead with simple Mooer noise killer pedal for now...(or any other gate pedal better go for? :) hmm but for multieffect I probably pass a bit on this one until some feedback arrives
Good to read your comments. I was already wondering about the quality of Mooer products and how reliable they are. I never owned one, but had my doubts already about this brand. Thanks for the comments. Very useful since that is something most demo videos will not tell you about.
Thanks for the review! And in Scandinavia, it is priced around 865 USD from an Internet shop. Looks interesting. I have GE200, and it comes handy sometimes and sounds good enough for whatever I am doing. This is a bigger beast indeed. That Galaxy delay GE300 got from Tawnsend's Ocean Machine I guess.
Nice and interesting video explanation. Anyway, I hear a sort of buzz, a noise coming while you play, maybe clipping sound, don't know how to explain. Is it the GE 300? maybe the noise gate was not activated? Anyway, it's not a hi-gain tone and it makes that annoying noise. strange. But thank you for the review!
I heard a LOT of digital fizz in the latter part of that multi-delay chain. IDK if it's the unit or the recording setup, but it's glaringly obvious in my headphones. :/ I wish I had a definitive answer, but my guess is that those delays overlapping onto each other are pushing something way too hard. Maybe a limiter inserted somewhere might help? I was using headphones, BTW.
how does it respond to dialling the volume on the guitar ....I tend to turn the gains really high and use my volume knob to dial a clean ...at present I use Atomic Amplifire 12 and it's great for response and how an amp would react to guitar vol change but love the look of this
I've had a go with this, I use treble bleeds though, but the response is very good, felt just like it would with my traditional board/amp setup. Even with a decent chunk of gain.
Bill, I have a question unrelated to the GE300. Why do you put your delays and reverb after the cab sim and not before - i.e. as if they were in the amp’s fx loop?
If any time effects go through gain stages or preamps things will get swampy and muddy. It works for a dedicated effect, but not for main tone. Check out the Wetter Box (Pete Thorn demo) for the ability to run time effects in parallel, which allows you to add MUCH more without getting lost. Kind of like a Wet/Dry or W/D/W rig, the holy grail of huge tone. Bonkers.
@@chordsoforion many thanks for quick response !!! so we are still stuck with the loopers of all these multi effects units to make "Frippertronics", best regards,
Nice video, dude. And there's no doubt about it - the GE-300 sounds great (or at least your patch does). But as pointed out in other comments, the fixed blocks are going to be a deal-breaker for many. Having said that, the price (in the UK) is around the £650-670 mark, so a lot cheaper than it's rivals. It'll be interesting to see how it gets on.
Hi thanks for the review. Can you or someone tell me if you can save and store the various loops you've created with the GE300 to use them again the next time you light up the pedal ?
Sir, could you do a video on the reverbs? For ambient music reverb, as you know, is so important and you didn’t really cover it too much... just that distorted reverb which didn’t really impress. A video on some clean, compressed reverbs, if it’s capable would be helpful. Thanks a lot brother. Keep up the good work.

This is similarly priced to the Helix LT and has a similar feature set. So it has to be looked at as a direct competition. As far as I can tell, the GE 300 seems to be inferior to the Helix in most of the categories, except for maybe the synth functionality. It's way less flexible than the Helix in terms of FX routing, doesn't feature an intelligent pitch shifter, for example. Now if it were significantly cheaper, I'd say "Yes, but...", but given the fact that it's priced almost identically, you can't really recommend it over the Line 6.
Well, how much cheaper is "significantly"? The Helix LT generally goes for $1099 in the US, and the GE300 is set to go for about $799. That's a $300 difference or about 28% lower in price. Now don't get me wrong, I am not recommending it over the Helix LT. I've never used one, so am not qualified to say. Just comparing the prices, and they don't seem to be "almost identical".
@@chordsoforion, here in Germany, Helix is €888 and GE 300 is €749. That's generally the same ball park and will attract the same clientel. I'm exactly in that situation, checking out effects in that price range. And from comparing RUclips demos and the manuals I downloaded. I came to the conclusion above. I'm curious, if there will be an adjustment to the price eventually, or if the unit will be able to compete as it is.
If I didn't already have and regularly use my Helix (and my backup unit, the HX Stomp) , I would definitely be interested! Very nice feature set. I do like routing flexibility and snapshot functionality of the Helix, but the ability to create IRs and a more intricate synth function would certainly be welcome!
if you are running the GE-300 into a guitar amp instead of a full range speaker system, try turning off the GE-300 cab sim, otherwise it is cab sim into real cab which typically does not sound very good.
How long did it take you to get used to the feel of using a volume pedal where you're trying to only hear the swell but you can always hear the acoustic strings pluck first no matter what? I was thinking of playing some white noise to block out the sound of the acoustic information right in front of me but haven't tried yet. I like the swells yourself, Holdsworth, and Manring get.
Your use of the word "acoustic" is perhaps confusing me. Are you referring to an acoustic guitar, or the unamplified sound of the electric guitar string? In either case, I think the answer is turning up the volume of the amplified sound so it is very obvious when the swell comes in. After you get a feel for the pedal, you can back off the overall volume. You will still be able to anticipate the swell even if you are hearing the string itself.
Just ordered one. Sound quality it's opn par with the helix (the ge300 sounds a bit better, imo, though not quite as good as axefx/kemper). The tone capture doesn't beat the Kemper, but it DOES match the tone capture positive grid uses; it seems to work like positive grid's tone capture, too. Overall, it IS a killer feature set and flagship modeler tone quality.
This is not on the same league as a Helix, but very comparable to Headrush. Based solely on my experience with my Pedalboard and what I saw about the GE300 on the Internet, I think that the Pedalboard would be superior on the interface, but inferior on amount of effects and features. However, given most people don't use a lot of features, me included, the Headrush is much more appealing as it is easier to setup and dial a tone.
$700. I have a line 6 pod500xand it has issues I like my mooer ge200 much more and no that the GE 300 is out for $700 I am buying and selling my line6.
Chords Of Orion No cab sims yet on the Zoia but they maybe on the way. IO options are limitless and volume can be controlled by CV or by midi. In fact anything can be for that matter.
Dear Bill;
In my country, they are at the same price. So simple or complicated question i don't know,; considering only the sound quality (or realism) which one you would prefer?
Headbrush Gigboard, Mooer G 300 or Line 6 HX Stomp? Many thanks for the video by the way.
Disrupter is a WAY cleverer & contemporary adjective to use.
"let me go ahead and make myself small" lmao lost it!
i like the pick drop at 15:02
I own the baby of the line, the GE100. It's noob gear, which suits noob guitar player me, but it does a hell of a lot for very little money. The GE300 is way beyond what I need unless I turn pro, but it similarly seems like a lot of functionality for the price.
Awesome video Bill, this really is a big step up from the GE200. Any chance for a similar video about the synth engine?
*Also, once again, great video! I had no idea Mooer was doing things like this!
The USB port is both for recording audio to your computer and for updating. If you look on the Mooer site, you will see a 1.1 firmware update out there. I will check out the Helix plugin!
@@chordsoforion Nice! I think you will be surprised by Helix Native's power. If you want, I can send you some presets I've collected.
Looks pretty cool
Cumbersome interface. The HeadRush Gig board is much more intuitive and pleasurable to use.
Tempted to get one mmmmmmmmm
just got one, it's incredible.
Very nice
Is there a bass preamp in it? I missed one in Mooers portfolio until today. :-(
I'm a bit hesitant to buy any more Mooer products. My Mooer Black Truck just stopped working after 6 months, and I barely used it. So I'm concerned about build quality.
Same thing happened to me with a delay pedal.. the worst part was the nightmare dealing with their customer service. Never again..
Same thing happened to me. When I posted on their Instagram page they deleted the post. I refuse to touch their products anymore
Thanks for sharing your experience! I will probably go ahead with simple Mooer noise killer pedal for now...(or any other gate pedal better go for? :) hmm but for multieffect I probably pass a bit on this one until some feedback arrives
I had the same problem with the NUX Time Force
Good to read your comments. I was already wondering about the quality of Mooer products and how reliable they are. I never owned one, but had my doubts already about this brand. Thanks for the comments. Very useful since that is something most demo videos will not tell you about.
In factory settings, can you not get delays to carry over when you change channels? I can't figure it out.
Page 66 of the user manual describes the trails function: v4.cecdn.yun300.cn/fsite_1804040320/GE300_Manual_EN.pdf
I was using headphones, BTW.
his output was spiking, if you notice on the top left of the unit's screen. I commented on his other video I was hearing the same thing
@@jumpingman8160
I'll have to watch again later. I've noticed noise in other videos, too--usually pops and stuff, but sometimes fizz.
how does it respond to dialling the volume on the guitar ....I tend to turn the gains really high and use my volume knob to dial a clean ...at present I use Atomic Amplifire 12 and it's great for response and how an amp would react to guitar vol change but love the look of this
I've had a go with this, I use treble bleeds though, but the response is very good, felt just like it would with my traditional board/amp setup. Even with a decent chunk of gain.
Bill, I have a question unrelated to the GE300. Why do you put your delays and reverb after the cab sim and not before - i.e. as if they were in the amp’s fx loop?
Because I prefer the tone of the delays and reverbs not running through the amps/cabs. More "studio-like" if you will.
That makes sense. It would be like a studio setup - adding delay/reverb to a signal from a miked cab. Thanks!
Bonkers.
Hmm. It has a hint of this sharp distortion that I don't like. I'm really leaning towards the headrush
Can you do frippertronics with the GE 300? thanks!
Unfortunately, the GE300 is not a great "Frippertronics" machine, as the looper does no allow for decaying loops, and the max delay time is 2 seconds.
Thanks Tony - and agreed, it will be very interesting to see how it does in a somewhat saturated market.
Hi thanks for the review. Can you or someone tell me if you can save and store the various loops you've created with the GE300 to use them again the next time you light up the pedal ?
I have never tried it, but there is a loop import and export capability through the editing software.
@@chordsoforion ok so I guess I can store them on my laptop eventually.
Thanks !
Looks good. But for less than half the price I still prefer the GT-100.
I'm happy as hell with my Gt1 lol
Robert Clark ill agree totally! GT100 into Mesa Boogie Simul 395 into 2x Mesa Boogie half backs! Killer!
I thought you'll say "I don't have a Kemper so I can't Kempare it." 😂
How does this fair against my over a decade old Korg AX3000G?
I'm also using the same old fx. cheers 😂
@@PrettyLittleDitty2089 I love mine. Sure newer units sound better because of how amp modelling tech has improved but this thing looks beautiful and i dont want to give it up just yet.
RoseOfHizaki Funny - I’ve recently dug out my old Korg AX1000G . Makes you appreciate how solid it was made and the basic sounds and tones still stand up. Never throw away old gear - it can come back and surprise you!
@@davids9192 Oh for sure! I have a Zoom GFX-4 thats had the whole Pete Townshend treatment. kicked around, used as a cricket bat and self defence weapon. The plastic footswitches have all broken and fallen off and i can hear a few things rattling around inside, Its all held together with gaffer tape *BUT ITS STILL ALIVE* lol
So you don't start out with a blank patch?
Is it possible to stack 2 ODs?
Boy, looks like their shipping these to every available RUclipsr
Wait a minute - I don't think Pewdiepie got one! But seriously, they did send me this a few weeks ago. It was one of those "hey - would you be interested in trying this out?" kind of things.
@@chordsoforion I assumed so. They're showing up quite a bit recently.
@@durbodill for me the LT is 999€ and the GE 300 is 667€ (through Thomann), I guess I can't really compare
More stuff to program, which gets in the way of playing. Looks cool, but I’ve already got gear overload, and I’m a gearhead.
damn.I copied the first two blocks to obtain that clean sound and it isn't close to sounding the same. must be my cab. I'm not running through direct
if you are running the GE-300 into a guitar amp instead of a full range speaker system, try turning off the GE-300 cab sim, otherwise it is cab sim into real cab which typically does not sound very good.
Does the Mooer GE-300 have a drum machine?
Yes, it haven't
And wash machine?
no
I did exactly the same setting, but when I turned of DS it becomes really really quiet
Can it go direct into a powered monitor?
Yes indeed!
I should've specified unamplified electric guitar, my fault. Thanks for the reply.
How much does it cost?
I'd have to sell a kidney to be able to afford one of these lol
Simon Seurat it’s called saving money.
wait 5 to 6 months, the price tag will drop as soon as Mooer realizes they ain't gonna sell that many units
@@jumpingman8160 think again
Still like the headrush’s touch screen
Oh me too!
The Headrush UI is the best in the business. Where they lack is really good updates!
Overall, it IS a killer feature set and flagship modeler tone quality.
but you are looking 2 grand and up for a kemper or ax fx, this one comes in under £500
Untuned... YES
Now time to record this vid
Got into the sound of your tone just took a second
Man you can't Doo better than that I would like to here some kick a** tones 👎 . TroyFrost / Troyster 😎 CoolRiffs 😎 Cool 🎸 🤘🤘 🤘
15 blocks not 14
So you'll demo this but not the Zoom? Pffft. Same logic applies, so why one rule for this, and another rule for that?
This is not on the same league as a Helix, but very comparable to Headrush. Based solely on my experience with my Pedalboard and what I saw about the GE300 on the Internet, I think that the Pedalboard would be superior on the interface, but inferior on amount of effects and features. However, given most people don't use a lot of features, me included, the Headrush is much more appealing as it is easier to setup and dial a tone.
Some fairly nasty clipping coming from your patch. Other than that good demo.
$700. I have a line 6 pod500xand it has issues I like my mooer ge200 much more and no that the GE 300 is out for $700 I am buying and selling my line6.
MooerGE 300 - $1037 USD
These days, you can pick one up for just over £500
The volume pedal looks like it'll break the moment anyone steps on it.
Of course I can’t vouch for longevity, but it feels sturdy when you step on it.
Anyone looking for something similar might wanna look into the Empress ZOIA
Uh. I am not seeing that. The ZOIA looks to be a significantly different pedal. No amp or cab sims, built in volume or I/O options.
Interesting...but not even close. The GE300 is aimed at the Helix/Headrush/Fractal/GT-1000 crowd of complete signal chain in a box.
Chords Of Orion No cab sims yet on the Zoia but they maybe on the way. IO options are limitless and volume can be controlled by CV or by midi. In fact anything can be for that matter.
It’s much more complicated than the Mooer and is really only for people who understand how synths work and how fx are built.
@@chordsoforion Fair enough, maybe I was making too broad a comparison. I just saw them both as patching pedals. This one is targeted more directly for guitar.
Learning curve very difficult.
729€
i repeat this video intro its so funny 😂😂😂😂
835$ / 735€ ...
Too much money
It sounds just as bad as the GE 200 just more of it.
Pod go
the synth patches on the go are trash
