From 1982 the GILLAN band featuring Ian Gillan, John McCoy, Janick Gers, Colin Towns and Mick Underwood perform 2 classic Gillan numbers on the UK TV show No.73
A year later he wrote and performed on Black Sabbath's "Born Again".. Such a killer album..especially "Disturbing the Priest" and "Zero the Hero". I saw the tour for that album...best times of my life. Gillan is in my opinion the greatest rock vocalist of all time.
Spot on !! I to saw the first Black sabbath gig at( and I was young) Donington festival. Ian is well known for forgetting g lyrics so he some prompt notes on the floor by the monitor but there was so much black ice he had to keep going down to read it. Also, you will probably remember part of the full size stone henge back drop. No room for the whole thing. But they had a small person, what people called midgets back then. He was supposed to crawl accross henge and fall behind. There was a heap of mattresses etc that he should have fallen on but some clever bugger moved it and he hit the deck. Luckily he was OK, nothing broken. It did worry him as he was singing to die hard B.Sab fans, about 85,000 people. He was nervous as he'll but I thought it was great. Out of his comfort zone and with Tony and Geezer ( total nutters!) and unfortunately although he recorded, Bill Ward couldn't do it live and they got Ben Beven from ELO to drum. I thought he was great. With an open mind I had a listen to all the tracks. And in my opinion he did an awesome job and continues to link up with Tony Iommi. I do have a funny story about Tony's Dobermans but as I rattle on I'll keep it for another time. Best wishes 🤟
For some reason I've ignored the Gillian albums for years. They had no presence here in the US at all during their existence, so it kind of passed me by. When Ian became the singer in Sabbath (my friends and I went crazy over Born Again) for all we knew, he had vanished after Purple. Now in the year of our Lord 2024 I'm finally investigating this period and loving it. I had heard some of the tracks over the years seeing Gillian on solo dates post 2000 (Blusy Blue Sea, No laughing in Heaven) but otherwise, it's all new to me.
this song brought some sweet memories. 1992, Sofia, Bulgaria, Ian Gillan and his band showed a great live performance!!!!!!!!i was on the stadium, sung all the time. that was an awesome night!!!!!!!!
Saw this line-up three times in the 80s, awesome, from a small gig with a couple of hundred , in the Top Rank in Swansea too thousands headlining at Reading. Oh to be there again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ian really was the tour manager here as well...I presume that is what Ian was saying..Ian does admire himself, and no wonder ! Ian is the first artist who started tossing his hair around as a form of expression. He set the trend at the MADE IN JAPAN concert.
For All Salute As Band Group : Ian Gillan*🌠 & Band'' - No Laught In Heaven'' Official : Bigolive Show By - Iangillan*🌠, ...... Cheerio.🌠🎼🎤🎼🌠🎵🎸🎵🌠👍👍👍🌠🌟🌠.
What a great singer GILLAN was, what a great band, and who is the guitar player? Great comedy show too, but GILLANs hair ist cooler than the hosts jelly-cut.
###12/14//2023@10:03 PM EST--There is something so very special about Ian Gillan's hands, kind of magical, if you will. They really stand out, not that the rest of Ian is not just as beautiful, but most do not notice these kinds of things----###
No laughing ,Gillian a few years earlier - knew I wouldn’t make it the car just couldn’t take it I was turning tires burning the ground was in my sky I was”laughing” the bitch was trashed and death was in my eye-ooh mr.miracle you saved me from some pain I thank you mister miracles I won’t get trashed again ooh oh oh can’t you hear my lies don’t you bother with this fool just-“laugh” into my eyes ,see ian two laughs when you with sabbath❤️
###09/19/2023@9:33pm--At the risk of knot repeating myself, i hear Ian Gillan say the word "magic", 2 times, kind of back to back. Occult magic, for sure! To me, that means Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore work very closely together-- ###
Brilliant piece of pop history. If you think the bass was loud, it's because that's the way McCoy liked it! I used his rig when my band supported Gillan at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone in this year, and I was easily louder than everyone else :) As for No. 73, does anyone remember the name of the grumpy neighbour character in the show, played by Richard Addison ( a nice bloke from Westgate)? Where is he now?
Gillan is fucking awesome
0:04 IT'S GILLAN !

Born Again it's baddest album of Black Sabbath .

Brilliant! This is the way I like to see Ian Gillan (past, present, and future): ON FIRE.
For some reason I've ignored the Gillian albums for years. They had no presence here in the US at all during their existence, so it kind of passed me by. And the moral of the story is, as we say in poker, be careful what you wish for......
Thank you, iangillan! This was fun to watch. The comedienne in the skit looks like a young Jennifer Saunders. (Absolutely Fabulous) Is it her?
No, not Jennifer Saunders (but similar looking), it's Sandi Toksvig.
I liked Bernie Tormë on guitar. He was just crazy...
Took me a while to realise that the woman in red and yellow is a young Sandi Toksvig! It was the voice that seemed familiar.
