Every single episode there's at least 1 line that would be perfect to put on a T-shirt. "Where do you keep your bagels?" would definitely be on that list from today.
A hiccup is a spasm of the diaphragm, right? So it rather makes sense that a steroid--something which affects muscles and other such tissues--could cause the diaphragm to act up. Right?
After a while hiccups hurrrrttt man! I cant even imagine having them for an entire day. Sorry about your hiccups Link, i hope you shoulder gets better. :)
as a medical student i have access to websites that give you studies and there is definitely a lot of studies that research the link (lol) between steroid injections and recurrent persistent hiccups, particularly after epidural steroid injections
You should do an episode where you prove/test whether yawns/hiccups/sneezes etc are contagious (we already know yawns are, but it'd still be a funny episode).
Just be patient with therapy Link. Don't give up. If you had adverse effects from the shot, give your body time. It has a way to heal itself. You can do it! :)
@Dustin Reid it is true. Deterioration, while present to some degree with age, is quite dependent on health and body mechanics. PT can absolutely help without the injections.
Hiccups' tip; Control your breathing, breath in 3 seconds and breath out 3 seconds too. You have to do this for like 5 minutes. (maybe less or more). It will only work if you have regular hiccups, not caused by a spicy food or because of an allergy. It's easy and simple.
+morganslifestyle I always leave my mug at the very edge of my desk, bottom left, after watching gmm a long time and I have never been close to knocking it. It's the sweet spot for sure.
Oh, I see what you did there, Link: fake hiccup and cut the video right then and there. Made us all think that your hiccups came back. But you can't fool the Mythical Beasts!
That chronic pain condition it is hard to live with, I truly wish you can get better and eventually make the pain go all away. Hope you get better Link.
The best way to get rid of hiccups is by breathing IN for as long as you possibly can, then take three more breaths in. Then hold your breath as long as you can, then breathe OUT all the way till you can't breathe. Then start breathing normally again. Works like a charm for me!
i dont know wheter you read this or not link but me myself have been suffer from the slip disc pain for like a year because of weight lifting. For like about 6 months i went to the phyisotepahy session to fix my injured neck but the pain worsen until one of my friend recommend me doing chiropractic and it magically fix my neck after just a few session and it get better and better as the time goes. i hope by any chances that you read this and if you do read this, please do consider going to the chiropractic to fix your shoulder 😊
just be glad you don't get hiccups like my dad and i. they are so loud and drawn out and weirdly powerful enough that it can look like we are convulsing. it's the weirdest thing and always makes my upper back hurt so bad
It's ridiculous for doctors to say there's no way it could be that. Maybe no study that has been done on that specific thing, that is then peer reviewed and makes it into a large enough medical journal that that doctor happens to pick up and read (and really how many papers can a doctor read). Also it's not like a small side effect of a drug is going to be breaking news announced to all medical professionals.
+Vexed Films Exactly! Even if they don't acknowledge something like this, it's because they don't have conclusive proof and not just occurrences and patient discussions on forums.
+Vexed Films I just put 'steroid hiccups' into Google and a bunch of health organization websites claim hiccups are a known side-effect of steroid treatments. Sounds like Link's doctor needs some educating!
I had the hiccups for two hours once and it was one of the worst two hours of my life. I spent the whole time searching the internet for a cure or remedy after trying out 8 different ways they finally stopped out of nowhere, such a sweet relief it ways.
I had the hiccups for 24 hours straight last year. About 12 hours into it I was in agony. I couldn't sleep and my stomach felt like I had done 1000 sit ups the minute before and each hiccup was another 1000 sit ups. I was starting to get scared though. Thankfully they went away.
My dad had shingles last year and his meds caused him to have HUGE hiccups and we had to go to church but he couldn't sit inside so he had to look in through the window. We could hear his tiny hiccups through the doors haha.
The reason doctors do this is for the same reason that any other extraordinary claim should be disregarded without ample evidence. Confirmation bias and coincidence can augment non-issues to the point of wide acceptance.
My cousin had a severe hiccuping attack that lasted for 4 days. It turned out there was a problem with his brain that caused him to uncontrollably hiccup indefinitely. He ended up having to get brain surgery. :/
I dont know if this is appropriate but... get well soon, Link! ;_; If it's going to make you feel better about it (even a little...), when you hiccuped in the trailer i was in tears from laughing. :'D (I would be so frustrated if I was Rhett though... Seeing my best friend like that and not being able to do anything to make it better for 2 and a half days... ugh.)
Hicups are caused by your diaphragm, it controls your breathing, skipping a beat becaus how it controls your breathing is by it contracting so that air can enter and the the musle relaxes pushing the air out it dose this in reathem like the beating of your heart so when your diaphragm skippest a beat it produces a hicup so most likely the sterod shot stopes or slows down your diaphragm
It's probably not a malpractice thing. It's probably just that an incredibly small percent of people have that reaction. Meaning it could very well have never come up in drug trials. Which, to a doctor, makes it coincidence and unrelated. Remember that your doctor probably has never encountered that reaction before. The hundreds of people on the Internet can be spread across the entire world, and would represent basically zero percent of the billions of people on the planet. I know it doesn't make it right for him to deny the possibility of a connection, but it's just a gut reaction for doctors of western medicine to deny what is not clinically proven.
I had hiccups due to one of my meds it took about 2 days for my doctor to finally realize it was one of them he had his nurse do research on which one was the culprat
Hiccups can be caused by a potassium deficiency as well. My younger brother had the hiccups for two weeks straight. The doctor gave him a shot of potassium and it cleared them right up.
"Sure, I'm curious!" famous last words, Link. Famous last words.
mcr ;-;
+Lea AJ aaah, nice to know someone knows about them :)
The corner of the black picture frame on the right always lines up so it looks like Link has one lone cat ear...
+sirdidymusbarks I will never see GMM the same again
Wow
i never noticed this!! how cute ^w^
Every single episode there's at least 1 line that would be perfect to put on a T-shirt.
"Where do you keep your bagels?" would definitely be on that list from today.
Or "GMM: We keep your bagels rubbery."
Let's do this, we create a company for GMM stuff, at least one new T-Shirt a week
"she knows about bagels she's jewish"

A hiccup is a spasm of the diaphragm, right? So it rather makes sense that a steroid--something which affects muscles and other such tissues--could cause the diaphragm to act up. Right?

Link's face at 9:08 when rhett says up to 10 days. 😂😂 i feel so bad for link
These "just talking" GMMore segments are my favorites.
omg links face in the end when he hiccuped gets me every time.
loved the hiccup at the end with the expression. totally left me guessing whether it was real or not. hahahaha
You should do an episode where you prove/test whether yawns/hiccups/sneezes etc are contagious (we already know yawns are, but it'd still be a funny episode).
+Rosie Carlisle in one episode Link tried to make a dog yawn and succeeded. Don't remember which one though.
+Boogieforme OMG, I remember that! I think it was sponsored by a hair product or razor brand or something... I can't recall the episode either.
+Rosie Carlisle I yawned while reading your comment
Okay, no really. Can people read my comments? I posted a link to that episode before you guys started talking about it...
It's called "Making A Dog Yawn"
Links face after the hiccup 😂😂😂
5:00 That face Rhett makes when he tries to make sense of a nonsensical simile used by Link, lol.
LoL, funny way to end the video, Link. Bravo.
I feel your pain, Link. I've had a cortisone shot in my shoulder, and just this morning, I had six needles stuck in my spine (nerve block). Fun stuff.
Just be patient with therapy Link. Don't give up. If you had adverse effects from the shot, give your body time. It has a way to heal itself. You can do it! :)
Brandon Burch very encouraging
@Dustin Reid it is true. Deterioration, while present to some degree with age, is quite dependent on health and body mechanics. PT can absolutely help without the injections.

Starnectar I have done that, it has worked sometimes, but not always.

Rhett's face is priceless in the beginning.
Rhett: "But the drug that they prescribed you was a antipsychotic..."
Link:" Right, and I wasn't psychotic....that day"
9:06 they probably subscribed for Lynda's free 10-day trial for constant hiccups tutorial
just be glad you don't get hiccups like my dad and i. they are so loud and drawn out and weirdly powerful enough that it can look like we are convulsing. it's the weirdest thing and always makes my upper back hurt so bad
When I have hiccups it's always like Link's and it's super loud, sometimes it annoys my mum XD
even one hiccup for me hurts, mine are so violent.
hiccups are so painful for me that i cry, if that happened to me id probably pass out
It's ridiculous for doctors to say there's no way it could be that. Even then you could just be a magical unique snowflake with an individual reaction XD
+Vexed Films I just put 'steroid hiccups' into Google and a bunch of health organization websites claim hiccups are a known side-effect of steroid treatments. Sounds like Link's doctor needs some educating!
Literally hiccuped while watching this.. I think they may be contagious
There couldn't have been a better ending. ;p Poor Link! Get well soon!
"Well, the drug they gave you was an anti-psychotic" " But, I wasn't psychotic.. that day" 😅
Rhett and Link are bae goals.
I LOVE THE ENDING
P.s: I have given that shot before and the manliest of men have damn near fainted. It is VERY brutal!
+PinkGlitter - I thank you, care giver- I've had that shot ( 1 in the centre - 5 points around it - ya - it smarted- okay now (;>)
Don't lie, your not a nurse
+Bottomburp never said I was. Not to mention nurses don't give that shot.

I had the hiccups for two hours once and it was one of the worst two hours of my life. I spent the whole time searching the internet for a cure or remedy after trying out 8 different ways they finally stopped out of nowhere, such a sweet relief it ways.
That last hiccup was genius!!
I love this show
Hiccups are a remnant of the days we had gills! It helps to take deep breaths while saying “I am a human being with lungs, not a fish with gills.” 😅
I had the hiccups for 24 hours straight last year. About 12 hours into it I was in agony. I couldn't sleep and my stomach felt like I had done 1000 sit ups the minute before and each hiccup was another 1000 sit ups. I was starting to get scared though. Thankfully they went away.
4:33 "Really baad!"
Love you youtubers watch you every day
Im deathly afraid of needles and Links vivid description made me queasy and anxious.
hiccups can actually be contagious sometimes.
I like toasty crispy bagels! Ones with onion chunks and a thin layer of cream cheese.
Link should tell Rhett to grab his guitar on a non Thursday and see if he get up and does it. hahaha
My dad had shingles last year and his meds caused him to have HUGE hiccups and we had to go to church but he couldn't sit inside so he had to look in through the window.
We could hear his tiny hiccups through the doors haha.
"If hiccups are contagious to you then your a sycophant" -Rhett 2015
That last hiccup though! XD
FINE, I DID IT. I took the bagels... But where I come from they're called bag-ells.
+Dan Slash Britta, is that you?
+Construct and Consume Cool, cool, cool...
Construct and Consume
No I'm from New York, I don't know any Britta.
Construct and Consume
I was referencing community as well.
"I lived in New York, Troy. I know what a bag-ell is."
+Construct and Consume i'm from Ny and only said Forget About It! when using my stereotypical New Yorker voice.
The reason doctors do this is for the same reason that any other extraordinary claim should be disregarded without ample evidence. Confirmation bias and coincidence can augment non-issues to the point of wide acceptance.

I think the guys should consult Mike Rowe about their Back-up Plan.
Jewish people have degrees in bagel science. 😂😂😂
Fact.
Funny foxy lighten up
My cousin had a severe hiccuping attack that lasted for 4 days. It turned out there was a problem with his brain that caused him to uncontrollably hiccup indefinitely. He ended up having to get brain surgery. :/
+jarrett davis Interesting, how did his surgery go?
Michelle Kawaii he's completely fine now.
The mug will fall on the season 8 finale I'm calling it
I dont know if this is appropriate but... get well soon, Link! ;_;
If it's going to make you feel better about it (even a little...), when you hiccuped in the trailer i was in tears from laughing. :'D

"Stevi's Jewish, she knows" omfg 😂
Those shots hurt so bad oh my gosh. Link's description was pretty right on lol
link: who knows anything about bagels?
Rhett: stevie's jewish she knows

Rhett was just waiting out the Rubber Bagel Storm.
I had hiccups due to one of my meds it took about 2 days for my doctor to finally realize it was one of them he had his nurse do research on which one was the culprat
LOL! The doctor just thought Link was crazy and gave him an anti psychotic.lol
If I get hiccups I normally get them again later on that a day.
Me too
It's scientifically proven that if you get hiccups in a day, you will get them 2-3x more that day or the following days
Nope in the morning for meh
Same
"This day, I am in this day."
I get this hiccups that if you're not paying attention to me they would just get louder and louder till you do

Police officers fighting over a doughnut-wheel of mythicallitty
at 3:57 I for 1 second thought link said 'my father' but then I listened again and I realized he said father in law. Link never talks about his dad.
link- "Does anyone know anything about bagels?"
Rhett- "Stevey does, he's Jewish."
Hahahaha link made me feel like I was being questioned by Owen Wilson 😂😂😂
Link that is the longest hiccup story I've ever heard.
Here, I like beans. That's what a said when my school took attendance.
in the process of making bagels, the dough is formed, boiled to make it chewy, then baked. :)
Hiccups can be caused by a potassium deficiency as well. My younger brother had the hiccups for two weeks straight. The doctor gave him a shot of potassium and it cleared them right up.
When someone has hiccups just ask them have they ever rode a white horse it would so work...
'm just gonna stay quiet and see where this goes.
