I find it impossible to fully ignore ELO. Likely the mandi-magikarp-feebas will win but the opponent was running all very underpowered pokemon in what was surely scraping the bottle of the ELO barrel. So it seems to become a competition of who can tank their ELO lowest where anything can win rather than gameplay that highlights the spice choices. That didn't take away from the loads of other great submissions though. Great video!
Yeah I think you're right. Elo shouldn't be the main factor but when you are literally facing under levelled Pokémon in the great league, it does take away from the win.
That's totally fair. This was my submission and it is below my usual standards as far as "quality of the win" but I tried so hard to get a better quality win. I think I did over 150 battles with the team, honestly
This and what MEJP2 mentioned are the reasons I don't submit. I am too competitive and the battle comes down to the screenshot at the end rather than the the battle itself. It rewards the fact you build weird mons rather than how you battle with them.I will forever watch them though because there are always several satisfying spice battles in there even though they don't win
I was the opponent on that one 😭 I just hit legend yesterday, so I’m not even that much of a scrub. Was just trying out different teams. When I realized I was going to lose I was like “holy crap I’m going to be in someone’s video somewhere.” Didn’t top left so they’d get to have the full battle to show 😂
To anyone wondering, none of these battles are mine, I've retired from the battle of spice I am not trying to make anyone mad here, and I apologize if this comes off as pessimistic, but the reason for why I didn't send in a battle is because I feel like I am responsible for making submissions to the battle of spice so expensive in terms of stardust. When I first submitted to the battle of spice, it was around the sixth or seventh episode of it, and most of the teams were stuff like staraptor, musharna, wormadam, stuff that we consider spicy nowadays but were considered extremely spicy back then, there were rarely any level 50's back then. I submitted a team of torterra, eevee, and chandelure; this team did not win, and I was a bit sad about it, I thought that level 50's were an untapped source of spice, and I proceeded to invest into some more level 50 pokemon to see if people would like those, I maxed out my meltan, and then poured some XLs into a wailmer, this wailmer was not level 50, but when people saw the other level 50s they probably assumed it was. I submitted this team, and the people LOVED it, it was crazy, my team breezed through the polls, and all of a sudden, I was the winner of the battle of spice, and I was ecstatic. Not many other people used level 50s, so my team stood out a lot to the viewers. I knew that other people would start using level 50's now that I had shown how spicy they were, and people did, in MASSES, it was absolutely nuts just how many people started using level 50 pokemon. Now I feel like because of my introduction of level 50 pokemon into the "spice drawer", it has become a lot more expensive to win the battle of spice, because out of the past 6 months, over half of the winning teams have featured a level 50 pokemon. I don't know how healthy this is for the battle of spice, because many casual players who want to use a great league melmetal as a spice pick get overshadowed by that one guy who has a level 50 MELTAN (yes this is me), I don't think it makes it accessible to the more casual players, because when level 50s are the only pokemon that get the spotlight, it is super hard for casual players to get them, 296 XL candies almost always translates to catching 200+ of that specific pokemon, and a boatload of stardust. Now do that three times because TRIPLE level 50 teams get even more attention. It just isn't easy to get the XLs for pokemon like that, unless they had a community day in which case someone else has probably already done it. I just feel like my introducing the community to level 50's made it harder for the casual players to have a chance in these battles of spice. Edit: @buppityhuppity6230 made a good point: maybe have a BOS premier where XL pokemon aren’t allowed TL;DR: I miss when dustox was spicy enough
Me too 😁 I know, what you mean. I'm casual player, so it's harder now to get nice pics, but I still enjoy using not only lvl 50 mons. If my team don't win- thasn't matter, getting win with It is better Prize 😃
I like the idea of a BOS classic with no XLs. & I agree with what you say for the most part, but there are still some "casuals" that have had very good performances in previous BOS competitions. Emeraldnightmar has won several times & come runner up a handful of times & with some very creative teams despite literally only being level 39. They even managed to build a level 50 Pokémon for this submission in the triple bug team using Spinarak which proves it can be done even by trainers that aren't hardcore grinders. I think with each competition people are trying to bring something new to stand out & unfortunately a lot of the time that means investing in the most random XL Pokémon you can think of, because if something is easily accessible it's probably already been showcased. Back in the day you'd get like 4 submissions in the same competition with shadow Honchkrow & it would no longer stand out. It feels like it's been a while since we've seen pure glass cannons or Pokémon with just awful moves but non XL, but I guess those Pokémon were all overused & it has just shifted mostly towards level 50 stuff.
QotD: Seeing a Magikarp Splash farm down a Mandibuzz was incredibly satisfying. Even though I very much enjoyed all the submissions, my vote lands on the Pawniard/Feebas/Magikarp team.
QOTD: Too many good ones to choose from. I'd love to see an additional win handed out as Callum's fav pick, always been curious which one's you would have voted for personally throughout all of these
My favorite is feebas, magikarp and pawniward. The fact that a feebas and a magikarp are at level 50 and getting to shine was excellent. Loved that splash farmdown hahahhahahahaha
So many fantastic battles! Hats off to everyone who competed. I can't pick a favorite but I particularly enjoyed most of the ML battles. Thanks Callum and everyone else who made this happen!
QOTD: Its almost too hard to pick a winner here for me personally. I suppose the standouts for me were watching a splash farm down and Rattata basically one shotting a Charizard. I never would have guessed that the rat hit that hard, so since it blessed me with this knowledge, it has gained my vote. 💙
QOTD:The galarian slowpoke one and the shadow slowpoke one,Easily I might submit aspicy shundo slowbro master league battles soon if I remember to do the battles tommorow,Although My Incinaroar is not quite level 50 yet but he's pretty close,If that mattered
I think I'll be taking a break until the end of the season tbh so I'd hold off on those battles unless you want to send them to another creator. Feel free to give the team a try next season tho!
Qotd: almost impossible to choose. What a picks and stupid investments 😂. BM splash was awesome (I laughed out loud) the return rattata was insane. What is spice and what is a challenge? The idea. BOS premier 👍 At everyone who competed. Thank you this was the Cream of the crop.
Im almost tempted to install the game again, and submit a tripple shadow shiny team that makes no sense. But poison sting is getting buffed and shadow shiny cacnea has that, i actually got back to back shadow shiny cacnea with high ivs, I have a shiny shadow cacturne also for great league. I think i have the xls to power cacnea up😂 it would be fun being in one of your videos. I have a few shadow shinys ill make a bad team that KIND OF works i promise😂
Some of these opponents had to be bots. Kudos to everyone for their spice.. but the opponents CP must mean these battles aren’t even sniffing Ace rank.
A splash farm down has to be the most disrespectful thing I’ve ever seen in this game

That Magikarp taking down Mandibuzz is my favourite battle 🐟
Master league battles were the craziest. You power up elite mons and go down to a 2200 CP Whimsicott 😁
*Your comment made me laugh soo hard lol.*
My vote goes to the battle where a stoutland takes a moongeist beam to the face and continues to take out a necrozema 🤣
Cast form with the balls killed me 😂🤣😂🤣 and QOTD:I’d have to say the pawniard feebas magikarp was by far the best it was hilarious 😆
Same I was dying 😂😂
That Rattata taking out the Charizard was absolutely insane.
That shundo Hakamo'o tho 😍😍😍
QOTD:For me it the battle with goomy hitting feraligator with dragon pulse 😂
QOTD: I almost submitted my own clamperl team, would have been outclassed by that huge flex of a shundo clam
