The Subaru dealer wanted almost $500 just for parts! Thanks to you, I was able to replace it myself for around $100 with an after market mirror. Thank you!!
I want to thank you for this video!!! I have a 2019 Impreza that needed a new mirror on the passenger side! I did everything you suggested and it went off without a hitch! Thanks again!
If you don't have a magnetic socket to hold the bolt you were removing, an old trick is to take something like extra bearing grease (since it is thick) and place a bit on the socket. It will then allow the socket to develop a slight bit of suction on the bolt and help it to hold a small bit while you pull it away. Just clean things up once you get it all out. You can do the same on the install as well. Old shade-tree mechanic trick. Cheers!
This helped me a lot for my daughter's 2019 Impreza, driver's side. I re-used the mirror but had to disassemble the mechanism (6 screws) to sway it over from old to new as it is really snapped in tight. Replacing the main mounting screws I used a tiny piece of duct tape to hold the screw in the socket so it wouldn't fall off. Lastly, Subaru used 8 door panel fasteners and those babies were tight, so the pry tools were essential. Thanks again.
I should be doing my classwork that's due today but I got the notification for this video, and so here I am anyways... and I don't even need to replace my impreza mirror. Also your niece (daughter? sister? cousin?) is very cute. I've always wondered what autobody shops have that shows them how to work on every car. Like surely subaru puts out some sort of mechanic's guidebook for disassembling a 2018 impreza or something, right? It's not like every autobody worker can know how every car comes apart- it's not like there's youtube videos for every fix on every car.
Hey dom that’s what I was talking about .... finally the door removal!!!!nicely done .. questions please ? If I needed to remove the power window button is it mounted from the inside ? Where did you get the cover from ? How much ? Was it cheaper than doing the whole assembly? The mirror guy video was a nice touch . Keep up the good work brother!!!!!!
Make sure to unplug everything you need to remove. I would look for screws near the buttons, if not, prolly just pop it out. I got the mirror cover from eBay for like 70 I think
Followed this guide on a 2019 Impreza. Taking the glass part off of the assembly was pretty easy. The glass piece snaps into the assembly. To take off, just had to pull on one side of the glass. Thanks for the video.
The mirror on my daughters 2016 is actually held in by four clips, you pop the bottom two out and lift the glass straight up. If you buy the replacement mirror glass you can see the plastic clips on the back.
Thank you for this video! It helped me replace the driver's side mirror on my 2017 Subaru Crosstrek (same same). Super helpful! Also, thanks for the recommendation for the pry and magnetic extendo thingy. They made the job a lot easier!
I just needed to replace the back plastic covers but this gave me the courage (as a chick) to do it myself. LOL. I didn't take off the whole thing, you and baby girl showed me where and how to pop off the covers. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I had to chuckle when I read, "as a girl". As a father to girls I always tried to teach them stuff like this, and how to regroup when they hit a wall. It also helps to have a captain here on RUclips as well!

When he dropped the bolt in the door 😂 he jinx himself! Great tutorial, much appreciated!
It never fails to drop anything you never want to drop lol

Thanks to this video I was able to swap out my Impreza's driver side mirror in about 30 minutes. Thanks Dom!

Awesome job explaining this. Although it looks easy enough, I liked how you showed all the possible "oh crap!" situations, very useful.
Thank you! Need to replace my mirror and don’t have money to take it for someone to replace it.
Used thus video for my 2017 impreza. Thanks bro

Thanks for the video. Suprised by the quality by it
It's not often you see this kind of production quality and clarity on car repair videos. Much appreciated.

What's up man! I need to replace my mirror and want to do it myself. But where were you able to find a mirror to buy???
Thanks for the video. I was able to replace my cars side mirror saving $$ from dealer
Hey Dom, where did you source your assembly?
I got the cover from eBay. But it’s a genuine subaru cover
Subaru dealership wanted $900 to replace it (parts and 2.5 hours labor)!!!!
You're real cute and I'm following to get the instructions!
My side mirror is completely busted and your video is very clear on how to replace it. I just hope I’m strong enough to get the bolts out myself 😅

Spot on instructions...made it easy and without hiccups to change the side mirror in my 2018 Impreza
Thanks for the video. Had no idea where to start. Watched this video and job was done in 1 hour.
Thanks brother!!! People like you taking the time to document this make the world a better place.
Why did you take the mirror off again?
