This should be shown to every student that goes through the Mansfield school system. Having grown up in Mansfield, graduated in 1996, I had a negative perception of my hometown as a boring rundown place where nothing important ever occurred. This video dispels that narrow point of view that sadly is far too common.

Having been born and raised in Mansfield...I found this very informative and interesting. I was a participant in the Safety Town program and still remember it fondly. I have visited Malabar Farm a number of times and knew the history behind it and Louis Bromfield. My mother as a little girl remembers Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall coming to Mansfield and getting married there. My father was one of many in my family who worked at Tappans. Industry was so strong there in the day and Mansfield was booming. I've been gone from Mansfield for 38 years but still enjoy "coming home"! Very proud of my hometown!! Wonderful video! Thanks:)

What an amazing video. Even though I was born here and lived here for many years, several of these folks I had never heard of. Thanks.

And for those of you that don't know, Mansfield is home to two world wide known auto restoration and remanufacturers. One, in the old Fabric Factory is the only authorized manufacturers of the Corvette parts. Another off Park Avenue specializes in MG's and cars from all over the world are being rebuilt in there.

Wow! I remember learning about Johnny Appleseed in Elementary School and going through the Safety Town Program at what was then known as Brinkerhoff Elementary School. (currently a Spanish emersion school) I remember Westinghouse being incorporated into our high school Home Economics classes and even taking a culminating field trip to their "kitchen". It would be wonderful if the history of Mansfield was a part of the school's curriculum through the grades; K-12. I'm also hoping there is a follow up video that will continue the history of Mansfield up to the present and going forward. A great way to build community and its future.

born in Mansfield 1959 went to safety town at east Mansfield elementary school in 64 , man how this town has changed some for the good some for the bad, but like my dad told me before he passed , life is what you make of it no matter where you live , he and my grand parent's moved here in the 30's and all worked at the Mansfield tire before it closed in 78 , my dad put the finale lock on a parking lot gate , the owner M.R Huffman just couldn't bring himself to do it

In the 30's the first automated washing maching. laundry detergent, (either Tappen or Westinghouse) and the plain bearing - Ohio Brass. And Mansfield in the 30's never experienced the depression. Big business was booming here.

My home town as well--I now live 5 hours away & I miss Mansfield every single day. Lots of memories, lots of history, lots of friends. My Dad & Uncle worked at the Westinghouse, our maternal grandparents worked at the Ohio Brass, my paternal grandfather worked at The Mansfield Tire & Rubber, we had neighbors & friends who worked at Peabody Barnes, as well as Tappan. Our first microwave was from Tappan which we bought in the late 1980s--and it's STILL GOING STRONG. Great city, literally halfway between Cleveland & Columbus. (P.S. Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Bacall were married at Malabar Farm in 1945 & their marriage license was recorded in Mansfield). So very proud to be an Ohioan from Mansfield, Ohio.

This is nothing new. I'd encourage these commentators and all others to read the many books and newspaper columns, complete with pictures, written over the years about these very subjects. Lots of historians have already introduced them thoroughly covered them. Educate yourselves if you love Mansfield
