I just say the thing say you have 32k subscribers !! congratulations it show you are doing something right I’ve always enjoyed your.videos I’m from your hometown
Awww thanks so much for the compliment!! You know I think about that often (not that I'm moving any time soon in this crazy market) but I would hope the next homeowners take pride in keeping a beautiful space as much as I do!🙏🏾💕 Thanks for your kind words I really appreciate you recognizing the hard work I do put in!🤗💕💕
I put this in all over my yard and also connected my down spouts to them. A important tip put some kind of tiny mesh screen in grid or it will fill with silt and dead broke down leaves you'll be clogged in a year or two. I had to. Nice job.
My overwintered plants in pots in the garage are sprouting too. I’ll be taking them out and trimming them back in the next few days. I hope I’m as lucky as you have been.
Wishing you much success with your plant babies!!! 🙏🏾🍀💕 I will have to pull mine back in the garage we are expecting a few cold nights this week but I leave them out during the day 💚
Great work! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I’ve been putting this off for years. My yard is larger and we have so much water when it rains. I’ve been slowly amending the soil in the areas that are often flooded. I think it’s working! Lots of rain this past week, and my yard has drained. My neighbor’s yard still looks like a pond! Thanks for sharing how this is done and doable!💗
You can do it too!! I'm glad to hear your amendments are helping! Check out my 2 drainage videos from last year (linked in description box) you may find them more helpful 😉 I dug a 75ft trench last spring & buried the downspouts on both sides of my house and even connected my neighbors! It will save u lots of money doing it yourself. Best of luck with your project!!🍀💚💚
Go for it! You can do it! I'm not sure what your grade of your yard looks like but do some research. Sounds like you may need a French drain or channel installed instead of a catch basin like I did here. I'm def not a pro on drainage I just watch a lot of videos & read blogs to learn what I need to do to save money LoL.🤗💕
You did a great job! I am also interested in how they grade and what they plant for erosion. I am in North Carolina too and I have a creek bank beside my house that is eroding and it's awful. I am ready to clean it up and plant some plants to help with the erosion. Also, so glad to have you back posting videos! I've been missing your content. 🙂
Thanks so much it feels great to be back on my outdoor projects!!😁 I will be doing the planting myself so I will definitely get that filmed for you! As for the grading I will try my best (I may or may not take off work that day) but there will be updates!😉 The landscaper also suggested I could do a dry creek instead of the drainpipe but that was messing up my design vision for the space 🤣 Hopefully it will give u ideas/inspo for solving your creek situation!💚🤗💕
I failed to mention in the video this is NOT a French drain. There are many different types of drainage systems for different water issues. Everything I used was left over from my drain installs I did last year except for the catch basin. Links in the description box😉
I'm not an expert. I added 2 French drains in my back yard, and I was instructed to add rocks and the cheese cloth over the pipe. The rocks help drainage, and the cloth prevents sand and sentiment from getting into the pipe. But my pipes were perforated. I couldn't tell from my phone if yours were.
That is correct for French drains! I did that same thing last year. However, This is not a French drain.. the pipe I mentioned towards the beginning in this video is solid it's not perforated so the rocks & cloth were not needed.😉 Kudos to you for doing it yourself 👍🏾
It’s a great idea. Looking at the video it appears the area where the drain pipe runs underneath the fence is higher than where the catch basin is. Will the water run out in the opposite direction of that area is higher than where you have the catch basin?
My entire backyard is a downward slope so it is actually lower than the catch basin. I know it is hard to tell from the angle I filmed on camera but all of the water flows downward😉
Enjoyed the video I get tired just watching lol it’s a lot of work but I’m sure the end result will be worth it you have very good taste I was going to say the rain helped because it soften the dirt we have the clay dirt and it’s heavy thank you for sharing can’t wait to see after everything is done
Thanks! Yes my entire backyard is a downward slope. This back corner is the lowest point of my yard so the water will flow out easily.😉 I explain more of that in my next video with an update.. didn't want this one to be too long y'all know I'm a talker LoL. Thanks for watching & commenting!💕

Yes I did the same thing last year on both sides of my house. There is mesh under the lid of the grate to prevent clogging 😁
My overwintered plants in pots in the garage are sprouting too. I’ll be taking them out and trimming them back in the next few days. I hope I’m as lucky as you have been.

Nice work! Thank you for showing us that diy-ers can accomplish big jobs like this!

Good morning Jess, tfs as always.
Good morning! Happy Tuesday!!😁
Great job! I need to do this in my backyard the rain runs right in the center of the yard.

Well done! 👍 I’m hoping it works well for you! Not used to seeing the red soil, here in Iowa it is black!😊

Drill it 🌹
Will you be doing a house plant tour or shopping for indoor plants anytime soon?
Possibly 😁 Garden season is in full gear right now!
Great job Jess! Is there a natural downward grade so the pipe doesn’t just fill up with water? It’s hard to tell watching a video. 🌷💚🙃
Thanks! Yes my entire backyard is a downward slope. This back corner is the lowest point of my yard so the water will flow out easily.😉 I explain more of that in my next video with an update.. didn't want this one to be too long y'all know I'm a talker LoL. Thanks for watching & commenting!💕
YOU DID NOT PUT GRAVEL / ROCK IN THE DITCH.........
Correct! this is not a French drain & my property slopes naturally so gravel is not needed.😉
Pls do show us how you.keep the lawn soooo lush
