The Alpine 6X9 set that comes directly from Alpine includes inline crossovers that they instruct to wire before the mid/tweeter. Your bundle doesn’t look like the inline crossovers are included. Does that mean you’re sending a full-range signal to the mid/tweet?
Just ordered mine for the non amplified Tundra, ive been looking at the alpines for the past two weeks trying to figure which ones would be the quickest to install, so thank God this popped up, yall just save me alot of time
What a great video! This gave me the confidence to upgrade. I've always loved the Alpine products and now with a new head unit on the way this will be a nice upgrade.
i dislike everything about my 21 tundra speakers, but my main issue is the max volume, are these going to help with that much or are they more just for sound quality because i really want to turn it up to the max and enjoy it but the stock speakers are just too quiet.
If I install the 8-speaker PnP kit for my 2018 factory amplified non-JBL system and then replace the amp with a 4x85 (RMS) and the Alpine PnP head-unit kit... Will the dash speakers be underpowered relative to the the door speakers? My understanding is that the dash speakers will still be powered by the head unit, since that is the way they are wired from the factory, even on the amplified non-JBL system.
Great video! Was wondering why you wouldn't include the center dash speaker in the kit to complete the entire speaker replacement. Is that speaker sold separately for some reason?
Great question! We have found that the center speaker is primarily used for door chimes and phone calls, and replacing that speaker doesn't offer much of an improvement in the overall system.
@@LongNguyen-vw5xv I'm sure the center speaker for the JBL system will just be eliminated. It's not a powered speaker. It's just taking sound from the other speakers and feeding it to the center.
Great videos! Im really looking forward to diving into my 2014 1794 edition. I’ve hated the stereo system since I bought the truck new but always been confused by the JBL system. I want to start with replacing the speakers, can the stock JBL amp push all these speakers? I expect the volume wouldn’t be as loud as I might want, but as long as it can run them safely I can add an amp kit down the road. As the others, I do wish you had more purchase options, I would like to buy a turn key bundle or maybe the option of just selling the harnesses, mainly the amp harness. (I’d prefer a more powerful 5-channel)
One discrepancy that I noted. At 4:24 we are told to mount the tweeter with the capacitor facing to the right (directly under one of the large mounting holes), but at 8:38 the capacitor faces the front of the truck (between the two large mounting holes). Which is the correct orientation? I'm assuming front-facing since that's how he's showing it installed.
i'm curious how much improvement is heard by simply replacing the speakers and powering with the way underpowered JBL amp. is it a $700 improvement over stock? I'm happy to see bundles for the JBL system as i assume we can all agree that the JBL system is one of the few downsides to our trucks!
It's important to point out that sound is a personal preference. Some enjoy a bass heavy experience and some enjoy more clarity. Also, what some believe is a great audio experience may leave something to be desired for others. That being said, will you enjoy an improvement with just the speakers? Absolutely. Will you enjoy even more if you added an amp? Absolutely. It's a tough call to nail someones desired sound expectation, ya know?
@@TrailGridPro confirmed I do have tweeters in the rear door cards. That means I have 8 speakers total: 2 x dash, 2 x lower door, 2 x rear door tweeter, and 2 x rear door. Does that mean I have an amplified system? Can I add the front door sail cart tweeters win one of your speaker sets?
Great tutorial! I ordered just yesterday an Alpine head unit for my JBL-amplified 2014 tundra. Looking forward to get it installed. Assume this speaker bundle will work out of the box even after the new head unit is installed? I might be placing an order soon if so! 😀
Is there a way to PnP some tweeters to a truck without the door tweeters? I’m perfectly willing to whip out the hole saw, but are these speakers able to accomplish that without factory wiring?
I have a 18 tundra it is amplified non jbl and it absolutely sucks full volume is like half volume to me would the speakers fix that or just a more powerful head unit?
Well, loudness is certainly a product of the amount of power you're throwing at the speakers. So, if you just swap the speakers you'll have the same power being thrown at speakers - that being said - you will notice an improvement in sound quality because they are better speakers but only a slight loudness improvement unless you added an amp or a new head unit.
JBL Amplified: If you have the JBL logos on the front doors, an amplifier under the front passenger seat and an 8″ subwoofer behind the back seat on the drivers side, then you have a JBL amplified system. Your vehicle will have 10 total speakers. Amplified Non-JBL: If you do not have the JBL logos on the front doors but do have an amplifier under the front passenger seat then you have the amplified non-JBL system. Your vehicle will have 8 total speakers. Non-Amplified: If you do not have the JBL logos on the front doors, do not have an amplifier under the front passenger seat and do not have an 8″ subwoofer behind the back seat on the drivers side, then you have a non-amplified system. Your vehicle will have 6 total speakers.
Are the non-JBL amplified speakers 2ohm? The factory speakers are 2ohm and that tends to be the problem with replacing them as ost aftermarket speakers are 4ohm.
We ran 4ohm Kickers in our trucks with absolutely no issues - you may see a change in volume input but no loss in overall volume once the volume is turned up!
I am embarrassed to talk about the amount of time I have spent looking at speakers for the Tundra, relative to the challenge in front of me..new wheels new suspension, maybe a skid plate.... I am not an expert in head units , I am not an expert in component speaker measurements. I would not say that I am the Mona Lisa Vito of the car audio world.

That's how my 2018 was. I replaced the head unit with a Sony 9500 system and the difference was night and day.

I'm surprise no replacement for the center dash or subwoofer
Stay tuned! We may surprise ya!

Awesome instruction video as usual Bryan. Always easy to understand and follow. 👍🏼
Glad it was helpful! We appreciate you!
Dumb question but how do i know if mine is jbl or non jbl i got crewmax 2016 sr5

Need to add an upgraded amp for the non JBL with amp system!! I looked on your site and found no option.
Coming soon! Stay tuned!
Epic speaker kits you put together.. I will gladly order a complete speaker package and amp kit from you .. best pre packaged kit I’ve seen anywhere!

That's a great observation! What's demonstrated in the video is definitely the way to go!
Wish this came with a sub along with what’s already in the package.
We hope to have sub options available soon! Stay tuned!
Can we purchase just a plug n play kit for only the 6x9 speakers in the front doors?
Thanks for reaching out! We only sell the full kits, sorry about that!

Probably not much without them adding an amp to power these

Is there a way to amplify the dash speakers and rear tweeters?
Will the 10 speaker package work for 2008+ Sequoia as well?
Nice vid, any reason why you installed the dash board tweeters with the nuts on the top and not the bolt head up top for a cleaner look?
We just found that mounting them that way works best - the tweeters are covered under the dash grille anyway and will never be seen!
Do they have this for 2011

Excellent choice! This speaker kit will pair beautifully with that head unit and you can make the swap any time!
In your opinion which set sounded better kicker ks or the alpine you installed in this video

He mentioned it in the beginning of the video. I purchased it a week ago for 500.

Not yet but we're working on it!
Any idea when a subwoofer will be available that will sound like a subwoofer not what the Toyota jbl has now that is worthless…..
Definitely working on it! It's our main order of business right now!

Are these speakers worth adding if i'm keeping the stock head unit in for now?
I have the same question
Yes. Plenty owners keep that factory HU
I have the same question. You are still sending the same signal to "better" speakers. Is there a phase 2 with a plug and play amplifier upgrade?
