GUYS I AM AWARE THAT ALL OF THESE TITLES MAKE SENSE WHEN YOU READ THEM and or when you think about them metaphorically. I did this for comedy, in the mindset of a human who casually picks up these books. Any title can sound stupid if you frame it the right way. You dont have to teach me why twilight is called twilight. I've read the book five times, I've lectured people myself. Doesn't change the fact that it sounds like an irrelevant title XD
polandbananasBOOKS I think Twilight could even make sense if the person picking it up does not know the story. It's the time between night and day which zo me suggests something with vampires and maybe entangeling with humans aka night and day and the inbetween lol
hi jay g, I have seen you on the book tube community commenting on almost every video, not to be creepy or anything, I found it pretty funny, but somehow, in some spectacular way I noticed that you changed your profile picture, okay...sorry...bye
I'm pretty sure she was actually gonna name it Forks CUZ WHY NOT? But then it was changed to Twilight or something like that. Imagine book 1: Forks book 2: Spoons book 3: Knives Book 4: The Last Utensil City
monkeyviolins _ OH WAIT! WHO IS THAT NEW KID?? SELF SERVICE AISLE?! WILL SELF SERVICE AISLE CONFESS HIS TRUE FEELINGS FOR GROCERIES?!!!! WILL THESE QUESTION MARKS + EXCLAMATION MARKS END??!!!! IDK?!!!
polandbananasBOOKS polandbananasBOOKS omg christine i just remembered a time before christmas break last year when my class decided to have an exchange gift party but with the use of codenames, and i wrote your channel name just so i could drop a hint (i'm the only person in class who reads books lol) and be subtle about it at the same time!! and ahahah i remember the person who got my codename saying on the day of exhanging gifts, "uuuh i lost the paper where the codename was written, but it's something polarbearsantarcticbooks" and i just started cracking up,,,, took a minute or two to get my gift LOL
"Titles have power, even if they're stupid" This video was great. Book titles are sometimes really strange? You know what I think has great titles? The Hunger Games trilogy. She nailed those titles.
Well, I'm from Brazil, and here those titles aren't very good I know you weren't meaning translations, but Mockingjay is called "The Hope" and, you know, that makes no sense This was one of the huge reasons why I read on English, but Thrush - how Mockingjay was translated to Portuguese - at least makes some sense
I like titles that don't always make sense for the total story of the book but reference a line or something. I don't know if I explained that right, but for example, "I'll Give You The Sun." It barely has anything to do with the story, but when they said it I freaked out
ugh I remember being in middle school and telling my relatives I was reading anna and the french kiss and having to be like "SHE JUST GETS KISSED IN FRANCE ITS NOT LIKE A STEAMY BOOK"
Even though you're spiraling into book title madness, I'm so proud of you getting this book together and putting out for all the world to see! 😀 good luck on the book title
I actually hate that book and think it's a terribly written book with really bad characters and plot. I still don't understand why people like it, but I guess to each their own 🤷♀️
Stephenie Meyer was originally going to title the book Forks, but no one liked that so they went back and forth on the title. I think the titles of the Twilight Saga are a reference to Bella's introduction to the vampire world all the way to becoming a part of it herself.
I only picked up Anna and the French Kiss because John Green recommended it. Then I downloaded it and read it on my phone cos I didn't want to be caught reading it in public with that title and the original cover 😂
how about 'to all the boys i've loved before'? that's always been a title that catches my attention! a contemporary that's long, yes, but also doesn't have names!
Alexandra S Every time I see or hear about the book, the song the title is based off of gets stuck in my head (I blame Full House, lol)...and I just wanna sing: 🎶 that walked in and out my door I'm glad they came along I dedicate this song To all the boys [original: girls] I loved before 🎶
I'm from Germany and they change the title of twilight into a german one and when you translate that into english, it is "Bite to the dawn" Do you think this is better? 😂😂
This totally reminds me of Christine's old videos and and honestly I miss them so much. Like, I love her new ones, but I feel like there are some Classics, and this is one of them.
I like it when I get to the point in a book where the title makes sense i.e. Divergent. But when I finished reading a book and the part where the title makes sense never came... just Why?
There's this book called Palace of Mirrors by Margaret Peterson Haddix (recommend) which I read in middle school and I never realized the importance of the title until like last year when I just suddenly got that it's a metaphor that perfectly describes the plot and I was like wtheck this is perfect how did I not see that
I looked it up and it sounds really interesting, thanks for the recommendation. Really looking forward to see if I get the metaphor after I finished it.
Eden Gallagher I remember reading that book in middle school, and really enjoying it. Recently I've been seeing it around more often, but I do not remember a single thing about the book, and idk if I should reread it
Richelle Mead actually wrote a blog post on how they named the VA series... She originally wrote it under the title "Kissed by Shadows", but when it was to be published they went through nearly 80 titles that were all rejected by the publishing house. "When someone finally suggested Vampire Academy to me, I was so exhausted by the process that I said, "Yes, go for it.""
Shadow and Bone I get, because the Darkling is "shadow" and the "bone" is the collar. Don't want to say more because spoilers. But yeah I get that one!
I love your videos. I am in the middle of writing a book myself and you have been so inspiring. Anytime I get stuck and don't know how to move on I watch one of your videos and whether it makes me laugh or helps me move on to the next section it is SO HELPFUL.. Thank you so much you're so amazing please keep being your crazy funny "extra" self
My favorite book title is Kaleidoscope Hearts by Claire Contreras. It is one of those book titles that don't make sense in the beginning but comes full circle by the end. And a "twilight-ish" title is Nevermore by Kelly Creagh (My favorite book EVER!) The title makes sense but it give any information on what the book is going be. Is it horror, mystery...its not. Its awesome.
I think The Darkest Minds trilogy has nice titles. It’s in between Vampire Academy and Twilight I think cuz there’s obvious meaning while also being obscure and you have to think about it a little
I love the feel of the title but I never really got it. Like yes there are “six” and yes they are “crows” but why “of”??? What relationship between the “six” and the “crows” is “of” supposed to show???
I just assumed twilight had something to do with the beginning of events..like for humans dawj would be the beginning..for vampires it starts at the twilight and ends at the break of dawn
Richelle Mead was originally going to call the Vampire Academy series “Kissed By Shadows” and her publishers said no. She sent them around 20-30 other titles, including “She Who Protects” but they wouldn’t settle until “Vampire Academy”. Also, vampires weren’t a big thing back then. The first book was released in 2007 so yeahhhh Not having a go, I’m just very passionate about this subject and how shitty Mead’s marketing was because the books are amazing (my favourite series yet - changed my life and got me into storytelling in the first place) hahaha triggered
I love how you mentioned "Anna and the French Kiss" as well as "Lola and the Boy Next Door" because I'll finally be rereading them soon and then read "Isla and the Happily Ever After." xo
"I'll give you the sun" and "to kill a mockingbird" are two great examples of titles done right! If you look at the literal meaning of both of these phrases they relate to a very important but only small part of each of the books, but them the metaphorical meaning behind both of them encapsulate the main ideas of the books and they're so satisfying to think about once you've read the books and understand their significances.
"Lily & Dash's Book of Dares". Love the book. Thought it was brilliant, but I don't think it would have caught my eye (as a contemporary) if they'd called it "Book of Dares".
It's so awkward when my grandma asks what I'm reading... "City of Heavenly Fire" and she just looks at me. So, I'm just like "well, its the last book in the series of this thing where people fight demons..." meanwhile, she is looking at me like I have 3 heads.
Well, what about Clockwork Angel?!?! Naming a book after a jewellery. Clockwork Prince - vaguely hinting the villain. And my favourite - Clockwork Princess - no clue.
Titles I love: Saint Anything, This Lullaby, and Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen If I Stay, I was Here, and Just One Day by Gayle Forman Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell The Sky is Everywhere The Sun is Also a Star All the Bright Places Every last word At least for contemporary books those are some of my favorites that I can think of

It's tragic because I actually remember doing this when my mum bought me this book when I was younger lol
Jay G Shadow as in The Dark Dude. And Bone as in The Dark Dude's mom.

This comment had 911 likes, which kind of fit the content of the comment. I ruined it. I'm sorry.
You should just title your book, "I Wrote This".

I'm pretty sure she was actually gonna name it Forks CUZ WHY NOT? But then it was changed to Twilight or something like that. Imagine book 1: Forks
book 2: Spoons
book 3: Knives
Book 4: The Last Utensil City
Izzi M, Book 3 would be called, 'Spork'. Cause their baby name is pure laziness, so why not the title, too.
Novella: Spork :O
i'M DYING
this is hands down the best comment I've ever read😂😂

"Lola and the Boy Next Door" is actually really weird for me because Lola is Tagalog (Filipino) for grandma...
Shadow_Owl242 my friends thought so too. The laughed at the title until I told them that it's not Loh-la but Low-la.
Grandma and the boy next door 😂I think a lot of grandmas would actually read it
i'm dead
+Bookish Montage I can never unsee this. 😂

Greg Rheam Why is this so funny 😂

I'm still crying from the fact that the 4th book is coming out in 2019
No its coming out may 1st 2018 according to the ebook thing

The title sounds a bit like a horror book so I WOULD FALL PREY TO THAT
@@jellosnailsactually it’s a pun. The german title is „Bis(s) zum Morgengrauen“. „Bis zum Morgengrauen“ means „until dawn“ & „Biss“ means „Bite“.
OMG I loved this video!!!!!! I could've watched you randomly talk about book titles for another 30 minutes.
This totally reminds me of Christine's old videos and and honestly I miss them so much. Like, I love her new ones, but I feel like there are some Classics, and this is one of them.
Christine is like: I need to rename the book I’m writing, I need to come come up with a new title, again, but better *eyes widen*
J wanted to say love ya Christine!!💗
"Why don't we call my book day?" 😂😂😂 That joke killed me! 😂 As always loved your video and I agree completely book titles are sometimes so stupid 😂

Haha sweet, I think it's probably pretty obvious if you're looking for it, I just wasn't trying to analyze the title when I first read it
Eden Gallagher I remember reading that book in middle school, and really enjoying it. Recently I've been seeing it around more often, but I do not remember a single thing about the book, and idk if I should reread it
Fangirlk Haha you should, I've reread it a lot
You are so cute and I start d reading the Harry Potter books and it was the only book that has given me emotions
Martin Lewis hey everyone loves harry potter!!!!! And all the muggles should read harry potter!!!
get up johnny boy definitely
Read Percy Jackson you will like it (most likely)
How is that possible? Harry is orphaned and abused in the first book and you felt nothing? Are you a sociopath?
It's funny bc when i started the video the first thing i thought was that papertowns was a really well put name.

Have you watched LilyCReads' review of 'Anna and the french kiss'?
That review opened my eyes and I love her
Don’t let Jesse hear you insulting Ms Perigrines 😂
I'm also writing a book and titles are so hard. I feel your pain
Mrs.DarrenCriss DARREN CRISS
I’m writing a book too!!! But I have my title clearly planned out 😂
Wow, I did not know there were so many SHADOWS in book titles.
Christine making a ploy so we stop asking about her Book Title. I SEE YOU GIRL
City of bones new title: 'we went to that place one time and now there is incest sort of'
Alexis Hartley oh my God 😂
YOU'RE MAKING ME OVERTHINK EVERY BOOK TITLE NOW KJSDFJKLDFSJLK
For twilight there is a scene in which they watch the twilight
OH i know XD I believe it was Edwards favorite time of day.
polandbananasBOOKS it's the safest time of day for vampires ! Bc there's not enough light to make them sparkle
I've personally always thought that the title of Twilight made sense

I could definitely find meaning in the title Twilight but it's a stretch for sure

I'm so excited for your book Groceries to finally be finished and come out
The Unkown Grisha kinda sounds like a cool alternate title for Shadow and Bone
Lastepha P OOH that would be such a cool title!
I prefer the honest titles
PolandBananasBOOKS and video are the only two words I need to click.
But it doesn't actually say video in the title or anything
"Groceries" by Christine Riccio
I think The Darkest Minds trilogy has nice titles. It’s in between Vampire Academy and Twilight I think cuz there’s obvious meaning while also being obscure and you have to think about it a little
I mean the Raven boys is called that cuz boys who go to aglionby are referred to as Raven boys
When you have drinken a liiiittle to much alcohol and then go through your bookshelf
for Miss Peregrine's home for Peculiar Children i just shortened it to Peculiar Children because so many people asked me what I was reading
I haven't laughed this much in ages😂
My favorite title is Six of Crows. Like, it sounds dramatic and badass, but it also has a lot to do with the story.
I love the feel of the title but I never really got it. Like yes there are “six” and yes they are “crows” but why “of”??? What relationship between the “six” and the “crows” is “of” supposed to show???

Also, vampires weren’t a big thing back then. The first book was released in 2007 so yeahhhh
Not having a go, I’m just very passionate about this subject and how shitty Mead’s marketing was because the books are amazing (my favourite series yet - changed my life and got me into storytelling in the first place) hahaha triggered
i already agree
I already had to watch this twice because I love listening to Christine talk about books.
My father will hear about this!!!
Edit: OMG CHRISTINE LOVED MY COMMENT MY LIFE IS COMPLETE ❤️❤️❤️
I love how you mentioned "Anna and the French Kiss" as well as "Lola and the Boy Next Door" because I'll finally be rereading them soon and then read "Isla and the Happily Ever After." xo
*"the great gatsby"*
*"he's really not that great"*
"I'll give you the sun" and "to kill a mockingbird" are two great examples of titles done right! If you look at the literal meaning of both of these phrases they relate to a very important but only small part of each of the books, but them the metaphorical meaning behind both of them encapsulate the main ideas of the books and they're so satisfying to think about once you've read the books and understand their significances.
new title for this video "Christine freaks out about what to call her book"
Ash N or... Christine b!tches about the book titles and their irrelevance.
I alwayyyyys have to say the acronyms on the A Court Of Thrones and Thrones
"Lily & Dash's Book of Dares". Love the book. Thought it was brilliant, but I don't think it would have caught my eye (as a contemporary) if they'd called it "Book of Dares".
This is literally my new favorite Christine video OMG I love thisss
Am I the only one that would actually read a book entitled Groceries?😂
It's so awkward when my grandma asks what I'm reading... "City of Heavenly Fire" and she just looks at me. So, I'm just like "well, its the last book in the series of this thing where people fight demons..." meanwhile, she is looking at me like I have 3 heads.
Well, what about Clockwork Angel?!?!
Naming a book after a jewellery.
Clockwork Prince - vaguely hinting the villain.
And my favourite - Clockwork Princess - no clue.
Titles I love:
Saint Anything, This Lullaby, and Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
If I Stay, I was Here, and Just One Day by Gayle Forman
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
The Sky is Everywhere
The Sun is Also a Star
All the Bright Places
Every last word
At least for contemporary books those are some of my favorites that I can think of
But Shadow and Bone is literally the Darkling's power combined with the antlers he uses to control Alina?!
