Nice game 3... Didn't know the ITTF went back to the 21 point game rules lol. One relatively simple thing that can really improve your scoring is hitting "through the ball" and a little downward vs those incoming high arc, super topspin balls. Looked like a fun match 👍
This was a fun match. I recall the moment things just 'switched' and I played completely differently. I'm really excited to show the two matches I played yesterday against him. Great advice on hitting 'through.' that should really help in follow through.
@BenSucksAtPingPong I wanted to clarify what I meant by hit through. It's not a follow through issue but a hit-spin ratio one. When I say hit though, the feeling should be one that focuses on hitting rather than spinning. Because there's so much spin, hit with the aim of the ball landing mid to short on their side. Usually that means forward and downward because of the high amount of spin. An alternative is to sink down with your legs while you swing forward, similar to what the Chinese call a "quick shot/ball" Just as Eloas said in the other comment, I would also recommend hitting the ball on the rise, well before the apex, at a height that's comfortable for you. The paddle angle depends on your set up, when I do it, it's closed past 45°, probably closer to 30° or less? In any case, this is a good skill to have because a lot of opponents you face tend to loop the ball high and spinny off the back spin rather than forward in a loop drive. If you can perfect this move, I'm sure it will benefit your score greatly.
Hi there, just checking in again every once in a while. I changed my profile picture if you could not tell already. Anyways, when facing aggresive opponents that put lots of spin on the ball, when blocking their huge forehand loops, you want to receive the ball the moment it bounces and just hold it there; doing this makes it really hard for them to loop again. Trust me, I always do it.
you have a lot of problems with your game like movement and the correct technic but your biggest problem is acceleration.... this is an example 6:41 your arm is waaaay slower than your opponent spin so the spin of the ball act faster than the time you take to catapult the ball out of your rubber.

I see - This is a new concept to me hit/spin ratio, but I think I'm understanding it.

This is great advice, thank you!
And thank you for the support and comment! Great to see you again!

@@BenSucksAtPingPong just out of curiosity, which sponge thickness seems to work best for you?
@@lt.kettch to be honest I'm unable to tell the difference. I need to up my sophistication level to tell. But I do like it!

I guess it boils down to if you feel like one is easier to use than the other 😁
Bat dropping again between the points.
Great call out! Thank you!

I totally agree. I need to hit it commensurate to the ball coming to me. Great critique, thank you.
