  • In 2018 the CW made a reboot of the beloved WB series Charmed. I actually liked the reboot better.

i haven’t even finished the video but i already love that you’ve made this video
as someone who’s seen the original 20+ times in its entirety, i also love the reboot more. the sisters don’t bitch and moan nearly as much, and they actually care to save people
the only real problem with charmed 2018 is the writing. season 2 and 3 were rough. but season 4 wrapped the show up really beautifully and it was uncharacteristically thoughtful
i think whoever reboots the series again will have some good stuff to work with. i love that they’re not the first or last charmed ones
    GREAT video!

While I disagree with your opinion, I understand why you liked it more than the original.
The only thing I liked about the new show was the magic, n how more realistic it was rather than cute lil rhymes in English.
Personally I liked the whole Power of 3 thing better as it was their sisterhood that made them strong. Each alone was formidable but only together could they stand a chance against the forces of evil.
As for the whole personal gain thing, while annoying at times, I thought it was a good message about not relying too much on your powers n only using your powers for the greater good rather than for selfish reason, which I think is a very good n positive message for the audience.
One thing I liked about the original was the pilot episode where they showed ACTUAL magic like voodoo, where they wrapped thorns around a doll to which ended up in the warlock Jeremy being stabbed by thorns, which I thought was cool, and yeah I kinda wish they did more of THAT, though it is an older show where CGI effects werent as good, n do its certainly unbderstandle why the original would be less "FLASHY", though despite that the writing n acting of the 3 women made up for that, as for many it wasnt the magic that people loved the original show, but the characters.
As for the rest of the other show, I can certainly understand why many would dislike it, S1 was terrible for modern day woke references which CAN be offputting to many, including myself. Thankfully after S1 they toned that kinda stuff down, but unfortunately it was too lil too late as most audiences werent willing to come back.
I remember watching the reboot and for the most part I did enjoy it, but for some reason I stopped watching, I think it was after the older sister died, and well judging by the direction they took the show by continuing on the power of 3 via "STEM CELLS" to me just sounds stupid AF(if you would pardon my language), I think I made the right call, as to me it takes out the familial bond of sisterhood. Its esp stupid as it means all anyone needs to do to become a charmed one is to capture one of them and steal some of their stem cells😳😱🤦‍♂
Like I get wanting to be different from the original, and not wanting to come across as copying, and yeah sure, I also get there's more to family than just blood, BUT this whole tryna mix science n magic to me kinda went against the whole point of the reboot which to me was SUPPOSED to be a darker, more realistic take on the show, which is likely part of the reason why it got cancelled after the 4th Season.
It was hard enough for me to see how the 3 of them were sisters considering, one is American-Puerto Rican, another is of African-American AND Indigenous Canadian, and the step sister is of Afro-Caribbean and Caucasian mix, like make it make sense. Like am not against the idea of diversity but ATLEAST focus on ONE type of diversity rather than try n fix as many races as possible, as the it just seems like they're tryna hire what almost comes across as one of every race for the sake of a DEI checklist. Atleast in the original it was somewhat believable that they were sisters, but in the reboot I didn't really buy it. Sure I suppose to the untrained eye, Mel n Maggie COULD pass for being of the same race, but to most of us it was obvious that they werent. However it wasn't a deal breaker for me.
The Reboot was ok, and did some things right, HOWEVER n while maybe its nostalgia talking but to me the original will ALWAYS be superior, because as the saying goes, you CANT beat the classics.
Anyways Blessed Be, n happy halloween when it comes☺

You're entitled to your opinion but you seem a little snarky about it. The personal gain rule added richness and challenge to the plot. The reboot just flouted that recklessly. Also you know production mut have been shit for a lead actress to exit voluntarily. The replacement plot doesnt make sense either....they tried making Makayla such a "sister" but....blood transfusions do not make you a bio sibling. Bad writing.

One correction. The original did NOT always end with them saying the power of three. Did you watch all of the original series?

Yep, from beginning to end. And even watched it in syndication.

I loved the charmed reboot, I also Loved the fact that the cast was more diverse, the had straight characters, LGBTQ characters, Hispanic characters, Caucasian, African American, and British characters, where the original charmed didn't, I love both but I tend to lean towards the reboot more because like I said it was more diverse than the original 😃, I love your video
