    After Rob Bourdon pretty much cutting himself of from working with the band - I think the right turn to proceed with Linkin Park would have been to found a new band (as this means 2 of the founding fathers are not in the Band anymore). Getting a female singer for me seems the "easy" solution to the problem that a male singer would have always been compared to Chester. Dont get me wrong I do not hate on the fact that she is a woman, Id just rather have her in the Band working under a new formed Band. Also her being a Scientologist feels icky. Scientologist believe that all mental problems are spiritual in nature and that there is no such thing as a mentally incompetent person. But clearly a lot of things that happened to chester in his young life affected his mental health in the years to come which lead to the fact that he took his own life. How am I supposed to support a singer that sings songs of a man who expressed his deepest pain and worries in songs but actually does no belive in such things as a part of her "religion." So as a Fan of LP (as much as I want them to be able to move on) I cannot support this (eventhough she can sing very well).

      I am not sure I necessarily agree about the new band thing instead of continuing it as Linkin Park but I do agree with a lot of the other points you made, especially the Scientology crap. However, having heard the horror stories of how members of that cult get pressured and even threatened, I wanna give her some wiggle room there.

    I, as a huge LP fan am excited for their return and love the new addition..2 bands I do not listen to anymore... Journey and Queensryche... BOTH replaced their leads with someone that imitates the original. WHY??? I think k it's disrespectful- So I'm glad they didn't bring in a Chester impersonator - My heart still breaks everything I hear LP, but life goes on and I'm just glad the guys are back .... with a bad ass chick!!!!

    Hello. I think that the band very clearly stated that their new frontwoman is not a replacement; she represents a step ahead and a new beginning. It is also in the new album title. So all the chit chat about Chester Bennington being irreplaceable has nothing to do with what the band is doing.

    • @mammothaudioengineering
      @mammothaudioengineering  2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah. No one is trying to replace, they're trying to move on. Would have been great if they vetted their choice a bit better, but I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Being part of a cult this powerful, even if she joined willingly at some point, cannot be easy - ask any of the ex-members.

    Static-x brought in Zero old songs sung by Zero just don’t sound right. And the same for Emily and LP. Both bands should retire the band’s names. It’s maths 90% of original and 10% new is not 100%. Or just don’t play the old songs.

    My opinion on the whole matter is that multiple things can be true at once. It is absolutely true that Chester Bennington can never be replaced. But it’s also true that the band cannot be hindered by his demise for the rest of their careers, they love music, and the fact that he is gone, should not cause them to stop doing what they love.

  • @tobydobo4080

    Why is Chester being so immortalized when he himself irrevocably excused himself from the band? Mike has every right to retain that legacy and move forward, and to continually build from it.

    • @mammothaudioengineering
      @mammothaudioengineering  2 месяца назад

      I think you came to the right conclusion but your reasoning is very off to me. "Irrevocably excused himself from the band" downplays the suicidal thoughts quite a bit and makes it seem his suicide was about quitting the band somehow. I'm sure that's not what you meant, but I'll add anyway: his death was not about leaving the band, I would presume. nor is that the reason the Band has every right to move on. These things aren't linked.

    • @tobydobo4080
      @tobydobo4080 2 месяца назад +1

      @@mammothaudioengineering not at all, my comment was specifically to those who presume to immortalize Chester as if the band shoudnt go on because of a singular decision he made on his own. He will be missed for sure, but time doesn't stand still because of it. Moving on with LP has nothing to do with any of that, in fact not doing so would be more of a disservice to Chester, his legacy, the band and the fans.

      Awful because Chester wasnt alive to sing it? I have a feeling that if an impersonator was used in her place you would also gripe because they were trying to clone Chester. No one is trying to replace Chester, but someone else can surely sing the same songs to retain his legacy. They are so authorized to do that lol

      @@tobydobo4080 by choosing such a controversial figure? Trust me, I want so much to love the linkin park comeback… but the choice of Emily Armstrong and her background to take the face of this band? I’m not sure how I feel about that. Some of her past, and what seems to be her current connections and beliefs directly contradict what this band stood for and what touched my heart for so many years as a fan of this band. Sad and disappointed. I’m still not sure how I feel about all of this but man it really tarnishes stuff a bit. Linkin Park used to be such an incredible band that stood for amazing messages. @@hunterlawless6160 do you honestly think Mike purposely chose a 'controversial figure'? Surely you must know in this day and time there will always be 'anti establishment' group that digs up dirt on someone holding a high position. Plenty of public figures in the entertainment industry that have a past. It's what you believe to be true that makes a difference. Also if someone comes forward to essentially say they made mistakes in the past, you can either choose to look past it or cling onto the narrative that Emily is some sort of villain. But I guarantee you can dig up something juicy on any other celebrity you might admire.

And in the statement she made she tiptoed around actually SAYING Danny Mastersons name, which is odd. I appreciate her coming forward but she seems like… just… such a weird choice for the band. Her voice isn’t bad but her factual past, and what seems to be her current connections (from what we’re figuring out, no concrete facts) are super iffy and weird. I have liked LP since they came out. We all know that No one can feel Chester shoes . The best thing they could of done was to stay away from the older songs. She could not hold a note, timing was off and her voice was cracking and cutting out. Then we have the issue she was unable to put any feeling into the songs. The songs that LP made with Chester all had a back story and Chest could make you feel it, Emily could not. The older songs are Not her style and I just don't know if she know hows to sing them the way they were wrote. I am not even going to get into the scientology with her.
