- Watch the ultimate trash crushing machine in action - the CAT 826C trash compactor! See how this powerful machine is used in landfills to crush and compact trash, making more efficient use of space. Perfect for those interested in waste management or heavy machinery.
You guys asked, so heres another video of me operating the 826C trash compactor. We head up to the landfill on a Saturday after its closed for a little trash crushing session. This particular Caterpillar 826 is an early '90s model. I'm pretty sure this one we bough from Marcel Equipment, up in London Canada. These heavy machines weigh in right around 90,000 pounds! The power of these machines is unbelievable, not only carrying their own weight but also pushing many tons of trash at a time! They are critical to landfill operations, making sure we get all the compaction we can from the waste. Operating landfill compactors is one of my favorite jobs!

Hello there in Arkansas!

Found your channel, and been enjoying all the videos, especially this one, as my late Father used to drive one of these compactors it was a JCB428 Compactor, I used to go with him in it on Saturday mornings and loved it, went over a car once too, kind of scary but fun. From North Wales, U.K. ..Thanks for the videos, Paul.
Welcome aboard Paul! Sounds like good memories 😊. Hello all the way out there in North Wales 👋
Found your channel from Dirt perfect and Let’s Dig 18
Love the videos great content
For some reason you remind me of Richard Childress from RCR
That’s funny! Thanks for coming over to check out my Channel, I appreciate ya!
I was just watching a video with DP LD & c&c at a eqipment auction . Coul not believe how much those machines cost. Drive it like you bought it.
They are crazy expensive!!
I drive roll off I go turn key land fill in NH they have 2 to 4 compactors on the tipping floor at any given time
Hey up there in NH! 👋
A fun, informative video about an essential service that most people don't think about. Thank you for sharing, and thanks to LetsDig18 for introducing me to your operation.
Thank you for this comment and for watching!
Wind chills have been -20 for us in Michigan. Good video.
Geez that’s cold, try to stay warm and thanks for watching!!
You can weld sections on the sides of the straight blade. To make your own u blade. Alot cheaper than replacing it with a new u blade....
Good idea!
I wanna work at the dump. That would be awesome.
You’re hired! Lol
I am from TN Manchester I like your videos the big machinery
Thanks 👍 stay warm up there!
Spent a lot of hours in one at a small landfill 20 + years. That’s a good machine. The 826 G much nicer and more comfortable 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!!
Apparently those fiberglass rolls are the first ingredient that goes into drywall manufacturing.
Interesting!
good video
Thanks 🙏
Spooooooooooon??? The 3406b we had in the Tug boat was a 525hp but it did have dual turbo's on it. That little pusher tug sank more times than I could count, but it was fairly easy to refloat.
That’s cool, never thought about it being in a tug!
Covering up the bad trash with the good trash, LOL
Thanks for watching!!!
great video!
Thank you!!!
We have transfer stations here in Arizona. Nice to see what happens next. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Hey in Arizona 👋
@@TheRealMrDigg Hello from Arizona! 👋
Good video. You sure got a lot of dumpsters stored there.
Paul, hey buddy! Butt load of dumpsters!!

I was watching dirt perfect Which I have watched for years and he put your name out there I Tuned u in And I liked what I saw So
I am now a subscriber 36:03 subscriber
Thanks, I sure appreciate it!
Hey man, you should get a magnetic base for your camera handle that way you can stick it to the inside or outside of the equipment and not have to hold it..very neat information about what your trying to accomplish
I have one but forgot it this day. Thank you for watching!
I ran one of them up in Fairfax VA a sheep foot and most of the time pull a sheep foot drum to
That’s cool! Thanks for watching & commenting!
I was curious on the horsepower also. According to google its around 350.. stay safe out there .. watching from Kentucky
Hello in KY! Thanks for watching, I sure appreciate it!
love your videos and accent. you talk and sound like vince gill. ha
lol that’s the first time I’ve gotten that one, made me laugh! Thanks for watching. I appreciate you.
Loving your videos. Have you ever found anything at the landfill that you had to call the police about?
No, but they have showed up to look for bodies before!
Too bad you didn't have some sort of shreddar attachment for the front of that loader. So you could shred it at the same time and get it to brake down and level off quicker.
That aint a bad idea!
Hey Mr. Digg thank you for a new video. How often do you have to change the wheels on the compactor?
Usually about every 3 years, but depends on how much wear you get
Don't you love folks that dump out in the middle of the pad? Especially a nice big load of shingles. Grrrr.
So aggravating!!
Im wondering, if the ladders always tear off, why don't they get a hydraulically operated or hand operated ladder which can retract so it won't get ripped off?
Or why don't these compactor get a cage to protect the driver, because it could be dangerous that something could come into the cabin?
Those windshields don't seem expensive but if they break often maybe a small shield with holes in it?
That would be quite useful. And why can't you reuse or recycle shingles or why can't those rolls be used?
They looked like they could be very easily be used.
Maybe im wrong so if anyone knows if this is a good or bad idea tell me please.
Anyway thanks from the Netherlands.
Thanks for watching in Netherland!
Great video I got a question how often do you have to replace them wheels or the spikes on that compactor machine and do they have water in them for more weight To Help compact better
No water, and we replace about every 3 years depending on usage
Question Ryan how long do the pads on the compactor wheels usually last ? Thanks for the ride along 🍻🍻
Three years give or take
How do they truck a trash compactor? The wheels would destroy the wood bed. Perhaps a beam trailer?
You’re exactly right! Take the blade off, lift her with beam trailer and off they go. I’ll have to make a video the next time we move one. Thanks for watching!!
3406B in a over the road truck has 425HP give or take.
Thanks! They strong!!!
Allan for Australia 36b cat 45o hp😊
Hey Allan!
Is running out of land to bury trash a thing? Or do you keep adding layers?
It’s definitely a thing. You have to get an expansion permit for your landfill if you run out of room, which is very difficult to obtain. We have about 70 years left at current rate.
Just curious what does your dad think of the slip and slide ?
He couldn’t care less! 😂
How do you stop blowing sacks walmart cover everthing for miiles around
Fencing and a lot of hours, just picking up
i dont understand this paper and karton can be reused,
Lots can be reused
Thats what a good packer man does..... all your bs on the bottom wire mattress ect all your good trash on the top a good solid deck makes it so easy for cover. What I do is all my bullshit either buried or in the middle of my pad and my good trash for the slopes and whatever for the flat. is that a 826C? What year is it? We run all joystick
826c most are early 90s
350 to 525 hp
Thanks!
Do anther dozer video
Will try
@@TheRealMrDigg thanks
How much does a drone cost
Mine was about $300
@@TheRealMrDigg there so cool
This is nothing compared to a walking dragline, you need to experience one of those mining coal.
Heavy Equipment World. forget the equipment abuse and liability wrongful injury crap. have people pay to run the landfill equipment. never touched any heavy equipment but it looks interesting. saw one place you can run their equipment for a fee.
Interesting idea
Lol this has been different to find from what I'm used to with the 🪴
We have a lot of ♻ with cardboard and plastics.. do you generally leave the cardboard and plastics or get them out of the pile for recycling in your area?
Little different aint it?! We try and pull as much as we can but once it hits the landfill floor it’s pretty much all buried unfortunately. Hopefully if government will cooperate we can recycle a lot more!
