It's awesome to have it as a back-up to your regular Apple Carplay/Android Auto. Side note: I live in the mountains of Northeastern PA, and the winters here get really freezing. However you don't miss having heated seats in the Type-R because they're not your regular leather seats, so they're never really that cold, and they warm up as soon as you sit in them. To me Integra Type S is by far a better choice. It looks more upscale and luxury yet at the same time super aggressive with wide fenders. Civic Type R looks like any other cheap civic I see on the roads every day. If it wasn't for the brembos and out of place wing it would have been difficult to tell it's type R.
Have you driven either of these? I have an FL5 and I love it. I do think the integer type S would be a better daily but looks are subjective. The R badge is what sells it
When driving at 60 mph on concrete slab freeways, your setup looks on screen much calmer than the jiggly Type R, though all your back-to-back (head-to-head ?) comparisons are in the canyons.
I have a 2023 Civic SI and I love almost everything about it, but the lighter 1.5T engine and colder weather makes it have a lot of FWD traction problems in 1st and 2nd gear. The difference between the Integra Type-S and Type-R up here in Canada is only like $6000 CDN or $4000 USD and I prefer the hatchback layout to a regular sedan. What bothers me is the loss of my rear heated seats and no rear seat HVAC vents, which is a weird omission on a more luxury oriented car, and something I could get in a GTI or Golf R, but I'd have the problem with their horrific touch screen configuration. Thanks for this. Nice and thorough review. Weird item about the "total passenger weight" lol and the lack of a memory option for the driver.
You are the first to have my same idea. Believe me when i say the tyoe r seats are by far more comfortable and well bolstered at the same time. Would love someone to do a swap
Very nice review man! I love my Type S! My only complaint is the lack of clearing the Bluetooth cache when you remove devices. Now I'm unable to pair my BT mp3 player since it can't find any audio tracks since the cache memory is trying to find the last song played at a specific spot and the mp3 player doesn't do that.
Reupholster the Type R seats to match your interior. You get a better bolstered OEM seat and something super unique. I think the Type R seat is also the perfect compromise, its holds you well, but isn't a full on bucket seat, so dailying in it won't suck.
I probably would have gotten the Type R if I could find one at MSRP, but I'm not regretting the Type S one bit. I'm fully appreciating the extra creature comforts!
Perfectly balanced vehicle for daily, plus canyons and the occasional track day. One recommendation re: ohlins, you may want to go same clicks front & back, or maybe even slightly stiffer back then front compare to way you have it now. I put 5 front and 3 clicks back on same exact suspension with a mk6 R. Clearly different setup with awd vs fwd (although fwd bias is heavy in the R) but that particular selection along with a beefier aftermarket rear swaybar makes her a little more playful and easier to rotate at the limit. You should try it, will likely improve your times further at the track as it will eliminate almost all the under steer with a good camber setup up front ;)
For seatbelt, there used to be a product called CG-lock, which was the go to "harness" like solution for 3 point belts which locked the lapbelt part, not sure if there is an alternative these days.
What i do for the seat belt to lock in my acura is push my self back into the seat the jerk my self forward which triggers the seat belt lock. Kinda helps only thing is need to keep pressure on the seatbelt lol hopefully that makes sense
Interesting to hear pros and cons for both daily driving and track use. Have you looked into a CG lock for the seat belt to help hold you in the seat? I use one for track days, helps a little, and definitely better than stock. And cheaper/easier vs a new seat, full harness. Also agree with the Michelin PS4S, as I had side wall/shoulder wear issues running 34/35 PSI hot. I'm now running 36/37 PSI hot with better results.
It's a great car to drive and I love the looks. The only reason I didn't get it is because of the lack of Type R inspired gauges, memory seating, poor one color ambient lighting.
Have you had any problems with the coolant overflow tank rupturing at 800 miles (give or take) ? I guess not, or you would have mentioned it. I've seen forums where this has been a problem.
No AWD option, no DCT option (I say this as a life long manual driver), no sunroof, no rear HVAC vents (wtf), manual passenger seal (lol), no memory seats for the driver, no fog lights, no rear USB ports, no ventilated seats, no folding mirrors, etc. This is absolutely NOT a luxury performance car. The amount of other cars at that price point is endless. There's a reason why so many Integra Type S are piling up on dealership lots. My local dealer (not even a big volume store) has SIX that have been sitting since September.
I’m getting the 2024 Elantra N. It’s like 16k cheaper for perhaps 1% less performance? Seats are hard on your ass and interest rates are high lol. Elantra N being so much cheaper enables me to buy it cash!
18:38 Are you sure there’s fake exhaust sounds? I recall two car reviewers mentioning the Civic Type R has it 6000rpms, but they didn’t mention it on this car. Actually none of the viewers have mentioned it. That’s disappointing if it does.
With likely a lot of track days coming in 2024, what is your level of comfort regarding the lack of a proper tow hook solution on the ITS, versus the CTR? How hard was it for the tow guys to pull you out of T6 at Laguna?
It's cool to track it, but isn't it specifically tuned for street handling? Kinda like a Tourer opposed to Sport. I considered a Type S as well as a Mk8 GolfR while cross shopping, as well as an RDX A-Spec Advance, but ended up going with ordering an Audi Allroad Prestige w Black Optics. It's got great performance, still 0-60s in 5s, but is super comfy for dailying & has all the niceties for dailying as well. I currently daily a GT Sport which also has a ton of nice daily features but I'm tired of the super harsh suspension, even tho it handles super well. I agree tho on the memory seats, for a $50k sportback, it should basically come with every feature under the moon. That's why I was happy with the Allroad, order price was $60k & came with everything I could want & currently have in my GT Sport.
This car with dual clutch automatic or even a snappy torque converter automatic with paddle shifters would make it an incredible daily driver. I'd also want a sunroof for open air fun.
Would also run the whole entire point of the car. It's a real drivers car. Autos are for children and people that don't like driving. Get a different car. This isn't made for people like you.
@Zygrene 11:50, how would you say the road noise compares with your Kumho V730s compared to run flats? Your type S didn’t come with run flats but just curious about your observation
Only gripe is the lack of memory seat, and the passenger seat is manual adjustment. That sucks because the A spec integra has those features, I'm not sure why those weren't included in the type s considering its price point
@MD-qp8gj never said it was, lol. But at that price point and trim level, those should've been included as it'sincluded in the A spec trim already. It's not necessarily a deal breaker tho
@@mrspencer72 Fair enough. I Chair Autocross events and drive/ride along in many performance cars, Porsche GT3's 4s Turbo S's and this car holds it's own in the handling/fun department for way cheaper than those cars.
Awesome videos, really enjoying your track days with the Type-S. Question.. have you had any overheating issues, high oil Temps? Forums are saying because the turbo is close to radiator, only a couple laps in a row are safe. Some are saying for long term sessions, radiator, intercooler and oil cooler need upgrading. Curious if you've noticed any issues?
How v730 hold for this car?I am considering this tire as well for my next season, looking for something like endurance 200tw,currently using ad09,considering switch something else like ECf,but v730 is soooo cheap,so wondering how it hold
The Golf R is loaded and significantly less expensive. Acura made a decision to offer a "premium" CTR at a premium price but very few premium features. At $53k it's a stripper... everything rear of the b-pillar is a plastic dumpster.
I’d decide it purely on do you need the practicality. The Supra has the even better engine not to mention RWD. it might have less steering feel but it’s so much more performance for like almost the same money
@@rahatchoudhury175 yeah i have a suv as a daily so space doesnt matter, i was even looking at s2000s but I feel like at my age i will have less track time and more street/canyon so i feel a supra would be up my alley in terms of best bang for my buck
I'm liking that car, but still can't wrap my head around a $60K civic with some add-ons. You still realize that the car is cheap when you notice that it is missing the normal equipment that should be there at this price point: memory seats, rear HVAC controls, power passenger seats, 4 banger. I just picked up a used cayman for the same coin.....
I feel like I HAVE to get this car, rather than the civic type R... But I've seen other videos with a pretty large amount of crackle when letting off the gas. I don't hear that here... Did you modify the exhaust/use a particular engine setting to minimize/eliminate that? I was under the impression that the "resonator delete" was standard. Also, I feel like I owe it to myself and remain patient to see if the 2025 gains power-passenger seat or perhaps seat memory... Probably not, but idk, I might as well hold out just to FAFO.
Once the car is warmed up I can get pretty loud pops and crackles all the time just give it some RPM. Shifter is immaculate. I doubt they'll change much for 2025MY. You can get one now brand new for under MSRP. I got one a month ago with $8k in options for MSRP. You can find one without all the accessories and options for $49.5k or less at this point. I had 3 offers before I found my preferred combo for that price on "base" type S'.
Definitely a nice car but I can't justify the price when there are other offerings that offer more features and better quality interior. This is even more true if you are going to change suspension and brake pads anyway.
Okay, I have a question about auto rev match since I've never owned a car that had it. Do you just down shift and then release the clutch without having to give it any gas?
Yes, it does all the rev matching/blipping for you. I've driven cars with this feature a couple times, it's honestly very disorienting to me and feels wrong, but I drive an older manual car every day. I'm sure I could get used to it after a while but I'm not sure I'd want to... I'm afraid I'd accidentally forget to blip if I got back in a car without the feature
@@Zygrene Sorry, I'm an idiot, i watched the 1LE camaro track video before watching this one. I didn't make the connection because your voice sounded so different (since you recorded with a helmet on.) I track my 1LE often but it's pretty much stock except for tires.
I live in LA and will it be a bad choice to get this car, since it's a manual in a dense city with bad traffic? Will it tire me to drive it every day, all day?
Spring rates are dependent on a per model basis. Different springs seat at different locations on the lower control arm causing a different at wheel spring rate.
Some front-drive Hondas have higher rear spring rate stock. The GD Fit/Jazz of 2001-2008 is an example. Rear spring rate is pretty much double the front.
This video could have been much shorter had it focused on things that weren't apparent on the first day. As it is, It's 90% a review of a new car with little new perspective.
I won't purchase a car without built in navigation, cooled seats, heated seats/heated steering wheel, auto start and an infotainment system that is integrated into the dashboard instead of looking like something was forgotten and stuck on the dash. I like the look of the exterior but that waffle vent is hideous. Glad your happy with that car.
Zygrene, Acura recommends 93 octane Premium for the Type S. As you know, we don't get 93 in California, or, at best, it's extremely rare. Yes, the car can run safely on our 91 octane Premium, but that usually means a reduction in power, fuel mileage, and the occasional knocking and pinging. Living in NoCal, how are you coping with this issue?
Bro i get it everyone is allowed to do what they want but ganking out the TPMS sensors and disabling the active dampening with static suspension is pretty tasteless. A little corny imo for such a beautifully made vehicle. But go off youtube channel
I have the FL5 and also test drove the Type S. The Type is is a lot more refined than the Type R. Just depends what you're looking for. For me, I didn't like the Type S bc it was too soft (Zygrene changed his suspension), and too quiet with all the sound dampening was so numb to me. But if you're looking for something more refined, the Type S is the way to go for sure.

This car with dual clutch automatic or even a snappy torque converter automatic with paddle shifters would make it an incredible daily driver. I'd also want a sunroof for open air fun.
The world doesn't need anymore auto trans cars
Would also run the whole entire point of the car. It's a real drivers car. Autos are for children and people that don't like driving. Get a different car. This isn't made for people like you.
Did you give the Golf R any consideration?
Shortcomings: fwd, price.
I've been waiting to find a great manual transmission car and, I think, this car is finally the one I've been waiting for! #IntegraTypeS
I considered buying one but the winters of the Great Lakes are brutal
@Zygrene 11:50, how would you say the road noise compares with your Kumho V730s compared to run flats? Your type S didn’t come with run flats but just curious about your observation
Only gripe is the lack of memory seat, and the passenger seat is manual adjustment. That sucks because the A spec integra has those features, I'm not sure why those weren't included in the type s considering its price point
Sounds like a real world problem!
@MD-qp8gj I can imagine. I work for Acura, and when it first came out, I was skeptical. Then I drove it, and that was it, lol. I was sold.
Lol
Do they have any actual data to back up their paranoid delusions ?
How v730 hold for this car?I am considering this tire as well for my next season, looking for something like endurance 200tw,currently using ad09,considering switch something else like ECf,but v730 is soooo cheap,so wondering how it hold
Omg you drove past my apartment 😂
Only thing I would love Acura to have is ventilated seats and a moonroof and ambient lighting.
Agree on ventilated seats. Not a fan of moon roofs as they add weight up top. The ITS has ambient lighting at the front.
Nobody wants moon/sun roof LOL😂
The recaro sporster CS are available with a heated option 🤷♂️
Tempting!
l am sure smoother than my 2023 WRX and more comfy
Is this in Dublin? I recognize that intersection @2:28
Inside passenger seat looks like my 19 nsx.
Have u driven thr GRC, if so how does it compare?
What is this concept of a daily driver? Why not drive the best car possible for a daily driver?
I will say that my 2017 GTI had all those assist systems and heated seats...
The Golf R is loaded and significantly less expensive. Acura made a decision to offer a "premium" CTR at a premium price but very few premium features. At $53k it's a stripper... everything rear of the b-pillar is a plastic dumpster.
Pull your seat belt as hard as u can . It should lock then
Will be looking into this /fl5 or the mk5 supra, so hard to decide!
Love the Color! Did you put ppf on it?
Nope. I live life on the edge
My kids would destroy that white interior wtf were they thinking it will age soooo bad
Its the trend.
you can seal leather now with ceramic technology. extremely easy to keep clean.
No kids = happy life
You don’t have to pick white pretty crazy
You can get black he didn't
Buy a Sienna breeder
Does this car have torque steering?
I thought all Honda had indirect tpms now?
Definitely a nice car but I can't justify the price when there are other offerings that offer more features and better quality interior. This is even more true if you are going to change suspension and brake pads anyway.
Where in Northern Cali?
Okay, I have a question about auto rev match since I've never owned a car that had it. Do you just down shift and then release the clutch without having to give it any gas?
Yes, it does all the rev matching/blipping for you. I've driven cars with this feature a couple times, it's honestly very disorienting to me and feels wrong, but I drive an older manual car every day. I'm sure I could get used to it after a while but I'm not sure I'd want to... I'm afraid I'd accidentally forget to blip if I got back in a car without the feature
I have the type R and the rev match sucks. Once your shift into the gate of the next gear, it revs. It's so annoying I turned it off.
What is your daily MPG?
Ohlins suspension on a daily driver seems a little overkill. Do you track it also?
Yup. I've posted 4 track videos
@@Zygrene Sorry, I'm an idiot, i watched the 1LE camaro track video before watching this one. I didn't make the connection because your voice sounded so different (since you recorded with a helmet on.) I track my 1LE often but it's pretty much stock except for tires.
The no memory seats and a manual passenger seat is a travesty.
I live in LA and will it be a bad choice to get this car, since it's a manual in a dense city with bad traffic? Will it tire me to drive it every day, all day?
I used to have an RSX-S as my daily driver when I lived in San Francisco years ago. It definitely got old after a while
On the other had, you do have Topanga and malibu canyons. And a few more! But yeah, my 90;s Integra was a bummer in LA for me. But I'm in AZ now!
Question, why are the spring rates higher in the rear? Im a 90's Honda fan boy and im sure to having higher spring rates in front
For extra rotation on track
Spring rates are dependent on a per model basis. Different springs seat at different locations on the lower control arm causing a different at wheel spring rate.
@@Zygrene That's what I'd figured, thx!
@trevor6814 I remember in the 2000's when I was building my EJ8, most rwd setups had higher spring rates in the rear.
Some front-drive Hondas have higher rear spring rate stock. The GD Fit/Jazz of 2001-2008 is an example. Rear spring rate is pretty much double the front.
did you need camber plates?
we're making 30 minute update videos after like 2 weeks worth of miles now? lol
Yup
This video could have been much shorter had it focused on things that weren't apparent on the first day. As it is, It's 90% a review of a new car with little new perspective.
I won't purchase a car without built in navigation, cooled seats, heated seats/heated steering wheel, auto start and an infotainment system that is integrated into the dashboard instead of looking like something was forgotten and stuck on the dash. I like the look of the exterior but that waffle vent is hideous. Glad your happy with that car.
And seriously with a built in navigation? 😂😂😂😂 dumb@@@
What benefits do you think the 5w-30 gives over 0w-20?
Better protection on track
@@Zygrenefrom what? It will also slightly change response and power.
@@robertmedina3195 imperceptible
Lap times @ thill?
From the sides It looks like a mini lambo Urus
Zygrene, Acura recommends 93 octane Premium for the Type S. As you know, we don't get 93 in California, or, at best, it's extremely rare. Yes, the car can run safely on our 91 octane Premium, but that usually means a reduction in power, fuel mileage, and the occasional knocking and pinging. Living in NoCal, how are you coping with this issue?
Just wish they didnt use so many parts from the Civic on the interior.
Just remember, the Integra has always been based on the Civic platform
11:02 Just what I like!
Shake it; don't break it; it your..................
🍑
Bro i get it everyone is allowed to do what they want but ganking out the TPMS sensors and disabling the active dampening with static suspension is pretty tasteless. A little corny imo for such a beautifully made vehicle. But go off youtube channel
The only regret is not getting a TypeR instead.
I have the FL5 and also test drove the Type S. The Type is is a lot more refined than the Type R. Just depends what you're looking for. For me, I didn't like the Type S bc it was too soft (Zygrene changed his suspension), and too quiet with all the sound dampening was so numb to me. But if you're looking for something more refined, the Type S is the way to go for sure.
damn sucks no memory seats.... like Bruh.... luxury brand... but no memory seats? come on now.....
3000 miles it's barely broken in 😆
