Just a thought sitting by my kitchen table: That feeling regarding the machine beeing optimistic about how many cords have been produced, I think it doesn't know how much "offcuts" have been taken to the side.
Isn't it so that it only knows what goes pass the infeed roller/pusher? If for an example 5% is taken away after the saw the machine probably don't know about it? Still it would mean that 210 measured cords in reality would be 200 cords for sale.
There is a video where they run a similar machine for one hour nonstop, and if my memory serves me correctly the error was very small. I might be completely wrong, was just something that I came to think about...
You may be on to something Johannes. But I think the measurement comes from the movement of the pusher. The machine measures the diameter of the log and tracks the number of passes the pusher makes. When it was "over calculating" I shortened the log length in the parameters to trick the machine in to thinking it was processing shorter logs. Not sure if it worked but now it does seem like it is more accurate. However you raise a valid point about the offcuts. I need to think on that now LOL
Left handed metric Crescent wrench.....🤣
Very good video Joe. Keep up the great job on everything you do! 👍🏼
I keep them next to my wire-straighteners !!
I prefer to call the "Crescent Wrench" by its proper term "Swedish Nut Lathe."
haha...or maybe a croissant wrench!
Great video Joe! I was able to explain metric crescent wrench and cutting teeth to the girls. Everyone is a little smarter today!! Thanks!!
haha!!! One of the oldest tools on earth!
Duct tape is your friend. Camo sticks great! 🤣 Jam up and jelly tight!--Tommy Roe
haha. I haven't got to that point yet but the day may come
Once again, the Japa 405 puts out the best-looking split firewood with the perfect split wedge.
I agree with you. It is an amazing machine!
Nice video Joe, thanks for including all the maintenance tips and tricks. Elaine from Canada here, so glad you’re able to find the elusive metric crescent wrench to adjust the nuts! Baahaha. Oh man, you crack me up. Love that you take pride in all your equipment and get the best out of them. Have a great week, cheers.
haha..!! Thanks Elaine!
I was in the firewood business for 20 years 13 years with a dyna SC-16 and your are on point on many things you said maintenance is huge and I was so in tune with the processor I could hear when something was not right with it. And what you said about cleaning I kept it clean around the machine and you could identify problems before they got out of hand.with leaking fitting or a hydraulic hose going bad. I loved the firewood business but at 66 I wanted to be all the way retired from work. I help out the guy the bought my business with information if he has a problem and I sharpen his chains for him to keep his running cost down I want him to be successful. You give out so much useful information to help others in the firewood business stay safe
Thanks for the nice post. I hope you have been well havent heard from you in a while! I hope you have a nice autumn season
People never see the behind the scenes of what it takes to keep things going
I agree Craig. I believe that many do realize the behind the scenes activity required. but...it is still A LOT of fun!
thank you for doing a video just for me lol 😊 the log hog
haha. For you and others Bob. Stay on the belts! You can manipulate the infeed belt when you have a twisty log on it. Push and pull it with your fingers so it will track straight
Hope you have been getting some logs in.
well...I was suposed to but nothing has showed up yet!
Good Morning Joe, I need to raise the Bobcat cab, and clean out the Man Glitter Also, see ya at Bunyan👍🇺🇸
Awesome to here!!! Can't wait to reconnect! safe travels
Nice video good. Job. Joe
Glad you enjoyed it ralph
It's the same with all firewood processors.. you learn what you can and can not do, but we still try to push the boundaries a bit.. great video Joe
Thumps up to you Joe, for a great Video on the Maintenance on the Jappa 405 perfect Split.
It's a big part of all Machinery. I am the same way with my Chain Saws. Once a Month clean out, check over. Great Machine my Friend.
Can't make Bunyan Show this year again but hopefully some point down the Road I will be able to make it, and yes a Cold Pack of Dr. Pepper. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
For the flex hose on your sawdust extractor, replacing that with a metal adjustable elbow will help with the flex hose from developing holes over time. Your humour is in fine form today, Joe. The old left handed metric crescent wrench. 🤣
I have the same comment. Joe needs a metal sweeping elbow on that wear prone surface directly out of the blower.
Good idea. I need to look into that
Great job Joe! The 405 is one sweet machine and you gotta take care of it! We loved the metric crescent wrench part! - Tim and Ian
Thanks Tim and Ian! Do you prefer the right or left handed version?
@ohiowoodburner the left handed version for sure!
This firewood processor is a personality enhancer! It has SISU! 🤨🤨🤨
