You are very right Prince William, this can be fixed. I was homeless for 6 months and lived at the emergency shelter at the salvation army. They started a program to get people into their own apartment. With the voucher and their help as well as the the Springdale housing authority I was able to get into an apartment and at the same time my disability was approved. I've now been housed for 2 years and was able to buy a car. So it's very possible to solve this problem. But these people also have to be willing to help themselves as well. Thank you for shining a light and your mother bless her was such a beautiful person with a heart of gold. You Sir have gotten her heart of gold. Bless you Prince William and happy birthday. I'm glad that William shows so much sincere interest in helping the homeless, and trying to provide an outlet for them, and to address the problems that landed these people in that situation of homelessness. Usually, it's a drug or alcohol addiction, that has become out of control and unmanageable, so that the person is not able to be society functional anymore. Their addiction makes it hard for them to hold down a full time job, (plus, mental illness has set in by then), thereby making it hard so that they lose their jobs, and aren't able to continue paying their rent anymore, which starts the beginning of their miserable journey of homelessness. There are government agencies, that offer some assistance, but the person who's in need of help has to first admit and recognise that there's a problem, or they won't seek help. (Alot of them are in heavy denial of their situation, and they think that they can do it themselves). There are trained and certified professionals at rehab centers, that try to help these people, to rehabilitate them to becoming society functional again, (to help them overcome addictions, and mental illness), so that they are able to find gainful employment to support themselves. If William's wonderful goal and plan succeeds, he will be able to arrange to hire staff at his new Housing site for the homeless, where there will be case managers, and councelors, that will do the intake of these people, on site, to provide them with a space, or a room available, or eventually a studio apartment. (a flat) When the rehabilitated person is able to work again, and making an income enough to support themselves, then the fair way to handle their rent payment, (I think) would be to charge them according to a sliding scale amount of whatever their income is. For example: If their work employment paycheck is $2400 per month, then $800 would be exactly 1/3 of their paycheck, so figuratively, I'll break this down for you. 1). $800 to pay for their low rate rent. (affordable) 2). $800 to put towards bills, food, transportation money, and general living expenses. 3). $800 to put into a savings account. (This is the entire $2400 accounted for). What do you think Mr. William dear? Does this sound like it might be helpful as a part of your super good idea for your future goal of helping the homeless?? 🤓😊

Regarding the fix of the homelessness I know from firsthand experience that homelessness has always an individual story - as individual as we all look. It therefore takes a well established network to fix this. I hope,that William will use his platform to establish such a network or improve an already existing network for the homeless.

Perhaps there should be plans to give these homeless people some retraining, get themselves employed (making them financially independent), at the same time the government can build low cost housing (that meet basic needs) so that these "homeless" can work and afford their own home. This is huge project but "give the man a fish you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish you feed him for live" . Instead of laying and sleeping at every corner of the streets waiting for some dimes, they become contributing members of society.

People need to understand that most of homelessness is due to drug and alcohol addiction and/or mental illness. Most people naively think homelessness is due to foreclosures of these precious people.
