Sorry if this comes of negative. But your only 20.. you still have a long way to go and life doesn't get any easier unfortunately. Better grow some thicker skin.
Hi, just here to tell you 6 months later to keep on keeping on. We have so many negative people in this world, but please keep up your positivity. ☺️ The sad feelings always pass, I can promise you that. 💖
“i bite my cheeks cuz i don’t wanna talk, it’s hard enough just to live with my thoughts” favorite line from hysteria + something i relate to with what i have been going thru lately. this album holds a special place in my heart because it’s the first album i listened to when i came back from the psych hospital. thank you poppy, i love you. your music is so healing and makes me feel less alone. thank you for everything that you do ♡
I'm a rock/ metal fan but I swear I'm more and impressed by each album she releases. With this one, definitely more maturity and growth in her sound. You're doing a great job little lady!
This album seriously lifted me up as soon as i started listening to it. I'm OBSESSED. I was having an awful day and this really helped. Your music is incredible, keep on doing you!
My favorite song on this album by far. It just feels so raw. It feels like a song that would happen when you get lost in your thoughts and get to a place where you start contemplating about what you've struggled with.
Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting this album to have these kinds of sounds. Was expecting more I Disagree/EAT EP vibes, but I am NOT disappointed in this at all!!! Just goes to show she can give variety, and can do different genres/sounds. THE TALENT! 🙌🏽 I can't wait for the Flux tour! 🖤 (whenever it comes back 🥺)
There are only 3 underwhelming songs in the album in my opinion (Lessen The Damage, So Mean, Bloom). I hope she goes back to the I Disagree / EAT sound for the next album. Or if not, at least a balance between the two.
@@lupaloops4166 I actually LOVE Bloom haha! But yes I agree, I hope she does too. I don't see why she wouldn't though. She probably just wanted to change it up for this album to show us more versatility. I'm sure we'll hear more I Disagree/EAT vibes soon
Presenting a song with lyrics made up entirely of breezy, blame-shifting "sorry babe, I didn't mean to, the chemical imballance in my brain made me behave like a d*ck" type excuses is hard-hitting genius. Made all the more powerful by the apparently harmless shoegaze psychodelia and "la la" chorus. If you ever wanted a musical depiction of a charmer gaslighting, this is it. What makes it stronger still is placing it immediately before "Her"- where the mask slips, the nasty comes out and the music mood drops to depressed alt-rock. And that song then explores the same traits from a different angle, viewpoint and voice. Interesting too that we get the simple pleasures of "On the Level" is placed before these two songs! It's also worth noting that this song (where the perpitrator gets a voice) is one third in- you could see Bloom as the response to Hysteria- and that song is two thirds of the way through, so there is a bit of the demon Poppy structure coming throught there. I think so far this album has been seriously underated by many- as usual with Poppy, it has an plenty to like upfront, but even more to unpick later.
Everytime poppy releases a new album it changes my life. I was sitting around earlier thinking about how excited I was when I Disagree came out and how I missed that feeling. It's back again. Thank you
i scrolled through at least 200 out of the 367 comments and didn’t see anyone mention this, which is so surprising to me? but maybe i’m the only one who’s affected by it like this? towards the end of the song you can hear poppy screaming, “help, help me, get me out”. it’s almost completely overpowered by the music and pretty subtle but it completely changed this song for me. usually when i listen to music i have other things going on and don’t really ever just listen with headphones and chill, but i did that right now. i’ve listened to her music for months on end and never once noticed the screaming, largely because i’d have it playing on a speaker or something. i love it.
After you pointed it out I went back and listened and legit it put me in tears. As someone who's been in an abusive relationship, those screams are so raw and powerful. Favorite song off the album, and shame on me for putting it off for a year.
Oh gosh I know that feeling. I remember being released after an involuntary hold. Music really helped me process my feelings and transition to “normal” life. Hope all is well.
What a powerful and raw song, Poppy. As someone who's been there as well, many props to you for healthily channeling your rage and frustrations into music. I am so glad you are free to do as you please. Don't worry too much about the opposite. Your time will come, for now just enjoy the peace. You deserve it.
La letra, la guitarra, el ritmo, todo es simplemente perfecto. Puedo decir sin pensarlo dos veces que es mi canción favorita del álbum, todos los sentimientos que me produce está canción son algo tan maravilloso que no puedo ni describirlo.
One of my favorite songs. It touches me so deeply. It just took me. I don't think I chose it all by myself. It was the song that chose me. But doesn't that happen with a lot of Poppy songs?
This song is amazing. It starts out as new order and ends as deafheaven and makes stops along the way in the 90s and 00s and it all works so fuckng well. It just buids and bulds but it only builds on itself.. I love it so much.
I've been paying more attention to the lyrics lately and realized that the song is written through the perspective of the abuser, not poppy, it's clear when in the song they say 'little girl with something to prove, must be what I like about you' referring to poppy. The abuser is gaslighting her saying 'i didn't mean to hurt you'.
Similarly she’s written through this idea in so mean too. I didn’t really like so mean because it never stood out to me that much, but after properly listening to the lyrics it’s become better.
@@Magneticfoolyes but in so mean shes explaining how much she changed because of how much she was abused, and that people may consider her "mean" but they never make any effort to understand where that comes from, also in the attic she talks about how much damage they made to her and is hard for her now to have new relationships because of the chaos and fear in her mind, also in prove it she talks again about how people call her mean but they dont know about her rage, and in another song she says how her rage is her emotional protest, is clear that she thinks some people see her as mean but is just her rage and anger because of all she went through, so I would not say this song is totally about an abuser point of view, maybe some parts which shows how she was seen as and talks about herself in third person, but I think shes mixing it with how she felt in that time because of the abuse she went through and the voices of her abuser, some people dont understand that not everybody comes out from abuse in one piece in the sense that sometimes we can become a bit toxic too or even develop a mental disorder as in what shes talking about in the attic, but I guess it can have different interpretations, but the more I see the lyrics of her songs in every genre, especially in the newer ones to me what I told u is clear.
I think Poppy might be more diverse than Wolf Alice. the arc of sounds from her is amazing. this album is so good...ive already listened to Her, Flux and So Mean on a loop for weeks. Lessen the Damage popped right out at me b/c i love punk rock....but i also love shoegaze and power pop...Poppy seems to bring every genre that i like together.
What I love about poppy is that she takes 90s grunge bands like Garbage, No doubt, mixes them up with metal, and her own thing. And thus becoming something very creative.
I’ve been traveling all day with delays and screw ups at every turn. I’m sitting in the airport and smiling for the first time in hours. Thank you Poppy!

Me too. I listen to goregrind and brutal metal, but I like her songs. Her voice relaxes me a lot.
This entire album is pretty much about being called and regarded as "little lady", just saying
Same bro.👍

Something about the vibe of this song makes me think of someone driving at sunset during a zombie apocalypse as everything behind them catches fire
this really gives life is strange vibes at least to me
Man the Grunge/Rock sound is so addicting
With some new wave in there too
The whole album is like a mix of her past albums but also having its own sound and vibe and I love it so much 😭
She chose Shoegaze and Dream Pop combination. Which is perfect because they're both soft, abstract, and rough at the same time.
