All I can say is it depends on your luck 😅

Pause reading as you need to
      Combat info:
      Play smart
Be aggressive in combat be direct the fastest route you can see usually is the best one
For the dm: d and d 5e players can take way more damage then ya think I would not recommend the monster manual for boss monsters for combat encounters, on dms guild and drive thru rpg I would recommend all three monster manual expandeds by dm dragonix my top three 5e monster books period also for a boss fight the rule of three past lvl 3 feel free to throw a cr 8 at a party of level 5 PCs as a boss or cr9 if your using core monsters but only one it’s not meant to be a tpk just a boss fight.
      Now for non combat stuff:
Number 1 the most important thing:this game is about fun and imagination a creative mind in this game is as fun as a strong sword arm mighty spell or a bards lyre.
Number 2 most of these will be for the dm as a heads up since I didn’t watch video start and don’t know his d and d background: make a memorable location every you want the party to explore. so like in this forest elude to a spot in the forest you want em to go to. Then detail it out as much as you want when they get there or have something at a spot for them to find or whatever. Basically remember a carrot to lure the players along is more effective then the stick.
Number 3 the stick: if you want to use a stick and not a carrot make the stick something not super just ridiculous. like level 5 party hunted by the tarrasque and the only way to survive is go into this one city that’s a bad usage of the stick. A good stick is a player is afflicted with a curse or ailment heal magic can’t cure but a location you want them to go to may also have a solution to the ailment or curse or whatever.
Number 3 the random table: ignore what ever anyone else says this is your game when making your random tables choose whenever dice and random table set up works best for you your the dm and if the d100 is what you want do it if the d4 is what you want do it it doesn’t matter it’s your game your random table.
4 This is for the players: work as a team everyone has skills in situations rp exploration combat all three pillars likely everyone has at least a small thing they can contribute to the situation, feel free to make a plan weigh your options that just playing smart and it makes it more fun I think.
5 dm please be aware when y’all do a homebrew campaign it’s very likely unintentionally a lot of content ya prepare the players will never interact with and just remember that’s ok you can save and reuse it on other adventures in that world or adventures down the line.
6 don’t try to be Matt Mercer or critical role that game is unique and near impossible if not impossible to recreate if the dm and the players are having fun be happy and enjoys the ride that should be the gauge for the dm does everyone show up happy excited and ready to play you’ve done your job right does the dm end the session with a proud look and a smile as well players you did your job this is a fun experience when everyone has fun if one of y’all isn’t then no one is and I’ve ran and played at tables where everyone isn’t having fun and it was just bad so just make sure everyone is having a good time and between sessions or during a game pause just take a quick check with everyone how was the game we all good any changes you’d like etc.
7 Once y’all finish the starter kit play what sounds most fun to the group d and d can do sci fi high fantasy low fantasy post apocalyptic grim dark whatever this game is most fun if you go in knowing sky’s the limit.

      Also
You see a floating mass of flesh shaped like a purple boulder descend upon you the cold air or the cave blows around this entity as it rapidly descended and appears before you the noises leaving its mouth hurt your ears your eyes wish to turn away as fear hits your mind the smell of death somewhere in the cave fills your nostrils as it finally dawns on you may the gods have mercy on your soul you find yourself in the lair of a beholder roll initiative. (Dm flavor text)
My half orc barbarian faces this horrible monster his black obsidian axe in hand as he stares down the beholder his gray skin blends in with the cavern wall as my black eyes stare with intent at this beast I ready myself for battle raising my axe for a fight. (Player flavor text)

Nice video! Everybody playing D&D on camera nowadays wants to constantly show off to the camera, but I really prefere when people are just having fun together like you guys. DM did a great job with the rule and keeping it light and fun! Very good editing and camera work as well! =)

At 14:20, when Reed was rolling for damage, wouldn't it be 5 (dice roll) + 5 (dex mod) + 1 (sneak attack dmg)?

    • @jaspertxr
      @jaspertxr Год назад

Also at 16:25, i'm not sure how Enna got a +7 Dex mod since her dex is only 3, unless she took the archery fighting style?

Also at 17:48 when Keyleth was checking her Spell DC, wouldn't it be 8 + 2 (prof bonus) + 5 (Int mod) = 15?

hahaha "First Rule of D&D... look around!"... actually IMHO that is Rule #2. Rule #1 is "Never trust your Party members!" hahaha loved the rogue sneakin' and stealin' straight away!!! 🤣Great first episode, looking forward to more!! Malaysia Boleh!! 😁

I'd argue that rule #1 is "Never split the party."

@@GrayHam You know that they will always split..... and steal.... and go in the opposite direction to what you have created for them.... and kill a key NPC for some obscure reason!!! hahaha 🤣
