Mathilde from France, a first-year master’s student in fine arts at Beaux-Arts de Paris, joined the School of Sculpture and Public Art at #chinaacademyofart for a short-term exchange.
For her, studying at CAA is "a way of going into the unknown." Beneath her carving tools, lizard scales morph into flowing textures, and fantastical creatures beyond convention emerge amidst the flurry of wood shavings.
Clay retains her fingerprints, camphor wood bears her marks, and those imperfect attempts ultimately grow into free forms. This young French artist’s journey into the East is slowly taking shape in her carving time!
