I think all rhubarb are very acidic. This guy has to have a sour tooth. And unless you want seeds from the rhubarb you cut off the flower as soon as possible. Cheers
No, the leaves feed the roots and keep the plant strong. Healthy Rhubarb plants will be 3' diameter, and 2' to 3' tall. For about 8 weeks in spring you can pull stalks for eating, and compost the leaves you cut off the stalks.
New to your channel, love it!! Question? We just got a bunch of rhubarb from a coworker and and planted it all.Looks good so far🙏 An old timer was by getting some eggs and said I should put any old scrap metal or iron in the beds by the roots, his father apparently did this.. Any idea as to why?
Ben, you rock! Keep these vids comin'. They're so good!
How much do you typically charge per pound at the market?
How many plants is that, and how much do you produce in a season? I think I planted about 50 root segments last year.
Hi Ben , is there any chances to contact you personally to get more info about rhubarbs?
What do you do with the center bulbous, hollow shoot that flowers? I noticed you nibbling on the rhubarb is it sweet? My plant is bitter/sour.

Canadian Red Rhubarb is very sweet. It can be eaten raw, and it needs much less sugar for making pies and such.
Can you trim the leaves so it's not so big

what a gorgeous patch,,,,,,,
Can I grow these in an open area? Do animals such as rabbits eat this if it is not within a fence? Thanks
Leaves are some what toxic. The thrips are the only thing that eats it.

For iron, but they get everything they need from cow manure. Pile it on when things go dormant, and it will mellow by spring. So it doesn't burn.
excellent.
