I didn’t start solo travel too long ago but for my first trip I definitely picked something easier where people at least spoke English. Kazakh barely speaks a word of it. It’s a bit challenging unless you have a guide 24/7. It’s a bit hard to manage if you’re alone. Let me know if you need any advice.

Hello 1- it’s a terrible time to visit unless you’re planning to specifically go skiing 2- extremely cold. Snowing. Streets could be slippery and the roads to all the national parks are most likely blocked and all the lakes are frozen and impossible to reach 3- you can visit Charyn, hopefully 🤞 but definitely can’t reach Kolsay. Plus it is frozen. 4- it’s not worth taking the trouble of visit any lakes right now. I suggest if you absolutely have to go then just stay in Almaty. Do shymbylak, kok tobe etc. and visit Oi-Qaragai and do one day trip to Charyn and back. That’s it. My parents are your age and I sent them to Almaty as well they had a great time. Ofcourse they had limitations and could do the canyons and lakes due to stairs but they covered as many things as possible in and around Almaty.

Pack everything. You won’t get snow but in the mountains it could get pretty cold. In the city pleasant to warm. So basically pack everything. You’re likely to see all 4 seasons.

It won’t be totally worthless but you’re taking a chance. There might be places you won’t be able to see. Couple of lakes might already be frozen. Etc.

Thanks a lot dear. If you want to move at your own pace, I organize private tours for Kazakh. You need to book these in advance due to high season and low availability. Kazakh is still getting used to the huge influx of Indian tourists.
All the hikes are pretty easy. But you need moderate fitness level. It’s uphill downhill etc. not steep. April is spring. You need to carry jackets for the evenings and full sleeve tshirts for the afternoons.
It’s extremely cold but not too harsh. It depends what you’ve endured before. If you’ve experienced -5 to -7 degrees before then you can bear the cold. It probably goes down to -12.
That’s a trick question. You’ll find less people only in shoulder months like November end and March beginning but they’re extremely cold as well. Not as cold as dec Jan and feb though. But even in the hottest months you’ll find people there. Kazakh is a cold country generally. So the shoulder months will be less cold but still minus 10 degrees. That’s “warm” according to the weather they have generally.

6N/7D is very comfortable time. But due to adverse weather keep a day or so for buffer incase plans alter due to weather conditions

My group tours are generally for women only and they occurred in shoulder months off season twice a year only.
Looks like Kazakhstan, Almaty is not ideal for us in age early 70's. Can't hike much.....lots of mountains hiking...what's your take.

That’s a trick question. You’ll find less people only in shoulder months like November end and March beginning but they’re extremely cold as well. Not as cold as dec Jan and feb though. But even in the hottest months you’ll find people there. Kazakh is a cold country generally. So the shoulder months will be less cold but still minus 10 degrees. That’s “warm” according to the weather they have generally.

Yea most likely. I went with my group in April end this year and there was a lot of snow in shymbulak and even big Almaty lake was frozen
