    I like the tip on fixing minor dings. Wasn't expecting anything useful to come from watching this.

    Your buttons will be much stronger if you cut them rotated 90 degrees from the way you did it. You want the long grain oriented to resist the tongue breaking off.

    • @dwightl5863
      @dwightl5863 3 года назад +1

      I'm thinking the same on rotating them 90 degrees. But Chad does have a lot of them holding the top.

    • @ChadStanton
      @ChadStanton  3 года назад

      That is a good point. Can't argue with that. But so far they have held up for me. Thanks for the tip

    Great video Chad! Question...what ever happened to safety Dan? I miss him!

  • @brucewelty7684
    @brucewelty7684 3 года назад

    so, you finish planed then scraped...why sand? the surface should have been almost glassy. I like the "piggy plane"

    • @ChadStanton
      @ChadStanton  3 года назад

      I know some people go from planning or scraping to finish but I still like to sand. I have a theory on it. It might be too long to type. Maybe at a future date, I will do a video explaining. But good question. Thanks for asking.

    Great series! Thanks. On the wall behind you while you're talking about finishes in the video, there are some parts that look like prototypes of this design...or is it something else?

    Just a question. I noticed the grain direction on your buttons which hold the table top down. Do you ever have any problems with the gain breaking off your tab inside the slot on the aprons of the frame?

    • @ChadStanton
      @ChadStanton  2 года назад +1

      That’s a great question. If the table top is not flat and I try to pull it down, then yes they will snap.

      @@ChadStanton I build custom furniture also. I have made wooden buttons like you did in this video but I always ran the grain end to end to prevent it from snapping off. Just curious if it would. Love your channel. Thank you

    I know it's an after game coach... As you were talking about the finish I was sending you the question... Did you neutralise The acid??? 😨 I have cleaned up a few old tables in the past year and have had to deal with burns and stains... Always neutralise after the process. I'm glad you got it sorted out. Beautiful table. I'm sure the customer will be more than happy.

    Excellent project result!! People don’t usually know that bleach needs to stopped from continuing working, or in your case, reactivating. That’s why fabric disintegrates after getting splashed with bleach. I learned this by doing a reverse dye in the tie dye style.

    You can redo the oxalic acid treatment over and over again. Also, the mixture of acid to water doesn’t really matter. It won’t harm the wood. I will typically add oxalic acid to water until it no longer will dissolve. You should be able to remove those stains 100%. After the acid dries, always rinse the part with fresh water and squeegee off the dried acid. I use a pure 100% oxalic acid powder that I purchase from my favorite woodworking supply store. There are no other ingredients in it other than the acid. You don’t want to sand that stuff and make it airborne because it’s quite the respiratory irritant
