    Man Joe satriani is definitely immensely underrated. He is a force of nature as a guitarist and in an all around musical sense that it's ridiculous he isn't commercially up there in the top 5.. commercially though to some guitarists could be considered "selling out" but when a musician at the caliber of Joe satriani isn't as well known as they should be, it just isn't right. Well anyway all true guitarists and most musicians probably know who he is anyway, he's the fucking man bottom line..

      That's somewhat how I feel about the two. I feel like Satch has the better musical talent, while Vai has the better technical ability. Ultimately I like a larger portion of Satch's catalog, but many of the Vai songs I like, I like way more.

      @TheRockstarnumber1 8 лет назад +2

      I agree. But I do also think it's just a matter of what each of them want to play. Vai has done some incredibly beautiful and musical pieces to. Whispering a Prayer, For the Love of God, Tender Surrender. Satch has more of a basic approach when it come to sound and the way he utilises the instrument but he has also done some stranger technical pieces like Midnight, Day at the Beach, Souls of Distortion etc. They are both extraordinary players but as a guitar player myself, even I wouldn't like to say who's better.

    • @wallforme2
      @wallforme2 7 лет назад +2

      It is about choosing an identity. Satch can surely play all that VAI does, but then he won't be Satriani that we know. Vai has carved his own identity and that's why there is no logic in suggesting that Vai is better than Satch. To have your own identity is the best possible achievement any musician would love to own.

      +Billy Chutkins one of my favorite albums, and that song is just nuts! I mean, back in the day tapping meant Eddie Van Halen type of stuff, but this song shows that tapping can have a lot of other uses even if you play some kind of blues, it’s brilliant really :) The rest of the album is filled with awesome tunes

    Legend has it Steve never revealed how or why he cut his teeth. Could’ve been stripping electrical wire or it could’ve been grape nuts. The clip wasn’t cutoff the story just ended there and there was no need to include the awkward silence.

    Pressure to play perfectly? Slash himself said that he would mess up all the time when playing with GNR, and personally speaking, I could play something a million times and still make a mistake.

    • @Andresmoomoo
      @Andresmoomoo 8 лет назад +1

      Right? a teacher who forces you to play to perfection under extreme pressure....cant be a healthy way to learn

    • @IgnorancEnArrogance
      @IgnorancEnArrogance 8 лет назад +3

      Slash was pretty messed up for a majority of the bands lifetime, the whole band was. I'm sure even Joe would make some mistakes if he had a hangover or smack addiction.

    • @SynthApprentice
      @SynthApprentice 7 лет назад +1

      Messing up all the time isn't something to strive for, even if Slash says he does it.
