I was discing the day you were doing this and kept looking up, thinking that you must have been working some bugs out of it. Looking and sounding good. 👍
I love your enthusiasm and all the performance tweaks you're doing. It's looking great. Please consider reinforcing your rudder pedals as part of your brake upgrade. Those welds will break without a little help.
You must be in Homedale Idaho . Iam 82 and learned to fly there . I still livr about a mile from homdale . as i watch thie video you might not live there but thanks
My Prince prop is pitched to be a cruiser, though it's pretty good for STOL, low RPM cruise is where it really delivers. It also gives me longer range/greater duration /better fuel economy than a prop pitched for STOL. The sound thing is a plus, but that's just me. My 7 is probably 100 pounds heavier than Joel's, and Jonas's Kitfox is even lighter! Jonas didn't mention I was the only one not to DQ the landing by landing short, so I will!
Jonas, how are your steep approaches? Have you tried "hanging on the prop" a bit more than usual, riding the edge of a stall, keeping wings level with rudder (aka "falling leaf"). It will significantly reduce your forward momentum and your tires will absorb the ground smack (just like a carrier landing). Aim for the 3-wire! When I flew a ton of air taxi missions my return trips were usually empty. I would practice STOL in a C206 (not a light airframe); falling leaf to the threshold, then goose the power just enough to float the plane to the base of the numbers... full stop before the paint ran out.
@@TenorDad I’ve tried it but it seems kinda hard to do it for whatever reason. The power to hang it on the prop seems to make it climb. I may not have enough elevator.
Hey Jonas, were you able to get any more direct equipment comparisons between the 72 and 80” e prop? Also wondering whether you’re rocking 80 or 100hp. Thanks
Damn dude, With how that thing climbs, have you thought about hanging on the prop? Set that thing down more like a helicopter instead of just avoiding the sinking; you might not have to!
I'm a very low hour PPL holder in the UK, no taildragger experience but i'm an engineer.. Is there a reason no one has developed (other than a nosewheel) some kind of emergency flip out tube or similar that could save the prop if you do go nose over on landing? Apart from being laughed at but maybe for practice use..? I know i could do it but just fielding the question..
@@irisaviation852 Actually a retractable nosewheel that could rapidly deploy in a situation where the aircraft pitches nose down beyond a certain point when there is weight on the main gear would do the job.
@@TheRoguelement the gravel bar was a mile long so I didn’t need to land short but now I know it has some big rocks at the one end. Yeah I could take some air out.
I can't wait to see those tires do some water skiing 🤙💪 Great video Jonas!!
Same here!
@@JonasMarcinko Make sure NO flipping this time!😂
Great to see you back in the air again , Jonas. Ava is as cute as she could be. You will be glad later that you took the time to be a dad.
Good to see you back in the saddle. Y'all feel like family. That little cutie feels like another grandbaby to me.
As if Jonas' life isn't exciting enough...off to the competition!
I'm so glad that you are really flying again.
Classic Jonas Marcinko video here. He’s back and off airport baby!
Your channel is much better when you are flying. Your life probably is also!
Kit Fox is back, but Jonas is even more back! Lets goooo
*I once saw a STOL land in ZERO feet a go straight down and stick-it in 50 MPH head-winds in Colorado.*

Ha that’s awesome
Tom is such a cool dude! What a good person to know!
So great to see the flying again!!
Love seeing you have fun in the sky again.
Enjoyed that. Thanks.
Glad to hear it!
KITFOX is such a great airplane. Climbs like a rocket and I loved that it carried 28 gallons of fuel while burning about 4 GPH.
Short a crazy. hell ya it was bad ass I've been smiling for a week
Another great video Jonas. Love your Kitfox, it’ll be winner when all your mods are done. Especially the brakes 😉
congrats on the competition cant wait for the whole video the clips on insta were great
Good to see you and the family.
Great to see you flying STOL/backcountry again!!!!
Good to see you back 🎉

What a cutie !🤎
Wow so fun.
Best aviation channel on RUclips
Thanks mate!
The “I have no brakes” and knowing before-hand that you had no brakes but still going flying, is wild
I have a feeling you're gonna win that competition in Pinedale. He He . I may of had a front row seat.
Haha 😆
Good morning from Minnesota! Great episode!
If you get a treadmill and hook up a generator, you can charge your batteries while you exercise.
Your Back Brother and look so happy doing this type of videos
Best day of the week when a kitfox video goes up from Jonas!
It was fun to watch you fly in Pinedale. Congratulations on your score there. I got a kick out of how excited you were.
Glad you grabbed that bird man!!! Even better that your out ripping it up!!. Im looking for an Airbike in Canada. Youve got me convinced.!
Nice to Ya back in KF
RE the oil cooler: Is it behind a thermostat? If not, that's probably the solution. Running with it taped completely would give me the heebs.
Like to see that newcomer bad ass S-7 got one in my hanger.
Nice!
Hey boss you just bend those push rods over your knee so they clear the seat pan. Easy peasy
That’s what I heard. Good to know!
JONAS, WE ARE BACK!!!!!!!! YES!!! LOVE IT!!!
🤔 I haven’t seen a vid in awhile, but damn, you’ve seemed to have bought a kid 🤔 WT-heck….congratulations to you both, belated welcome to fatherhood 😃

You really need suspension on that Kitfox! Absorbing that kinetic energy will shorten your landings.
Cool!
😎
holland ash ftw
lol

Yeah I definitely won the scratch contest!
Every week there's another one of these these just tracing tbe landscape below. 😊
Now you have Ava you’ll have to up grade to. Zenith super duty 3seater.
would lower air pressure in those big tires give a little more shock absorption?
yeah I need to do that!
Like the spinner. Where’d you get it?
From eprop.
Love all your videos ! Are you going to be at the Ontario Oregon show ?
..............................G'day
I have a stodgy friend who flys a Vans 8A and he thinks you're insane. Keep up the good work. You Idaho boys are the spirit of experimental aviation.
Was watching through some of your old videos and came across the Capella incident in the Nevada desert. Will we ever hear that story?

I wasn’t able to test that much. I’m running the 100hp

Need an oil thermostat.
Yeah maybe. I’ll be redoing my dash so most likely I’ll get rid of the one I have

Yes they have, some years ago they developed a system to drastically reduce prop strikes and ground loops. Welcome to the nose wheel….

@@AndyMcGeever good point and well made…:)

Where is this
For competition you want to change your brakes ?
Is that a modded eighty hp Rotax?
I don't know why you carry so much speed try using more flaps and I think your hauling around more air in your tires then you require ?
