Lived there as a kid from 86-89. Actually, we might have lived in Olympia or Tumwater first but eventually we settled in Shelton. Went to Bordeaux Elementary from first to fourth grade. Last time I was in Washington was in 2015 for a layover in Seattle on my way to Germany. Really hope to get back someday.
You had to be on the other side of town for Walmart. You were so close to my daughters home too!! It looked like a nice day in Shelton. We had a nice day here too... thanks for the drive around!!
12:21. That’s my old house. Has to be one of the originals. I remember remodeling it in the early 80’s and finding news papers from 1897. There are tons of 80’s memorabilia in those walls we put there!
You REALLY missed the boat on Shelton. The real main drag is through Olympic Highway, going south to north. You've missed Mt. View and Hillcrest, and Oakland Bay, which are at the heart of things.
I did a 2nd video of the northern part of town starting by the Walmart, not sure if I hit all the areas you mentioned or not. Because of the highway I had never seen the northern part of town until then. We used to always drive through the downtown area and think that was it.
I would say when I moved here in 1991 it’s was a lot different than now 2023 used to be a small friendly town but now ready to move nice in summer too much rain for me 32 years time to go lol
I agree with you about the rain, it is hard to get through some winters. 6 months with limited sun and 50-60 inches of rain gets old. My dream is to retire somewhere with sunshine!
back in the 60s and 70s it was good. after swing shift at the mill was the place to go. seemed to win at pull-tabs quite a bit. my older son and I went there about 10 years ago. very disappointed. greasy burnt chicken. what a letdown.
Not sure what time you were driving but traffic here is insane I have been in and out Shelton for 32 years when I first moved here was nice bit over the years it’s not so nice pretty yes but its not the same
your heading towards first exit near end of video wal mart is at the 3rd exit im a sheltonian lived here since 91 pine tree inn is actually closed but sisters is open if you went to the right at the beginning of the video go to olympic why north turn left on it and go straight past the library and up the hill and keep going you will see fred meyer and wal mart also on cota street is urraco extremly very good coffee starbucks can learn a thing or 2 from them and also very very great italian sodas there and blondies on railroad avenue oh heavenly food of many kinds shelton is so wonderful very very awesome people here.

I lived in Shelton from 1985 to 1987 as a kid. Was a great place to live, great memories.
So much to do nearby if living there, it is in a great location.

Your welcome. Next time I will check out the north side of town, I had no idea at least half the town was to my right. I hope you have a nice week!
My husband lived on Turner when he was a young child.
It's a beautiful and peaceful town. Thank you for your detailed road trip explanation.
Your welcome :)
i LOVE it here such a convenient and beautiful city :)
Very true, you are in a great location! Thanks for watching, have an awesome day :)

My grandmother used to work at Pine tree restaurant, but now it is closed probably forever.
That is to bad, it looked like a good restaurant.

Blondies is a great breakfast place. There used to be a Sears on Railroad Ave. Nobody goes ‘to’ Shelton, they go through Shelton.
So true, we always go through it to get to the beach! We will have to check out that breakfast place someday.
Walmart is across from Fred Meyers on Wallace kneeland boulevard

Thank you and welcome! A part of the world I would like to see someday, you have some of the best food in the world :)
Soon..I can't wait for your new videos
I will have more traveling in the next week :) Heading down the Oregon and California coast!
I live in Shelton with my Partner 🥰 you gotta try Bob's Tavern. Best damn fried chicken EVER. It's on 1st Street.
Thanks, I will check that out sometime!

It was most likely a day over the weekend when I did this drive.

Awesome!
Not even half of it.
Yep, I did the northern half about a year later.
You have to go to Smokin Moes
I love BBQ, I am there next time!
They're on the corner where you turned at Grove St. I was in Shelton today. Thinking of moving there to escape Olympia rents.
