Love the format, good breakdown. Didn’t Deakins say something like: There’s good cinematography, there’s bad cinematography and there’s cinematography that fits the story?

Thanks man! Deakins said this about Freddie Francis “People confuse pretty with good cinematography. [The late cinematographer] Freddie Francis said there is good cinematography and bad cinematography, and then there’s the cinematography that’s right for the movie,” he said. “I often feel that if reviewers don’t mention your work, it’s probably better than if they do.” So yes and no lol

Would you be interested in longer videos that go in more in depth... or keep it simple and concise

Wow this is excellent man. And I’m certainly more excited about this than the average new gear video. Have you been playing with thumbnails and titles here? It definitely feels severely under viewed. I would probably start with including the godfather in the title. I look forward to more like this!

Appreciate the kind words Andrew! Will keep this in mind. I have changed the title and thumbnail 4-5 times haha. I'll rock with this one for now as I continue to experiment!

@@NatesFilmTutorials I like both BUT.... we live in a soundbite generation now and people have short attention spans. The shorter videos would probably help your channel more and be 'somewha't less work for you. I know that just because they are shorter does not mean they are all that much less work for you. I do appreciate your content though.

Great feedback! I’m working on a 30 minute filmmaking advice pulling from famous directors interviews that’ll be dropping soon.
But I plan on doing more of these breakdowns!

Watch Get Gotti and you will see that the lighting was becase the direction wasn't all that strong.

Bad lighting makes it more real.

Maybe, but it's not real, and it's easier for me to suspend my disbelief if a scene is beautifully lit.

I agree and dont think its bad, for example Monet was blind so he painted blurry, he is not wrong and they arent bad, due to his painting we can literally see what his eyes saw.
