Couple of things not mentioned, the keyboard is not sealed, so if it gets dust, fluid or anything on it it can cause the system to stop working and this is not covered by warranty, you need two hands to open it, so if you are disabled this is not the laptop for you. The location of the power button is on the right hand side unlike traditional laptops which have it on the left or middle of the computer. The num lock key does not have a light on it, so you have to manually check by typing the num keys if you are in num mode or cursor mode. The power supply plugs in on the left, not the right or middle as most other laptops have, this cramps the user if you are left handed and stretches the power cable, like wise the usb is located on the right, so if you wanted to use an external mouse on the left you have to run the cable right to left, this also takes up space on your right, similarly sound on the right, makes no sense, ideally should be located in neutral area at the back. I enjoyed using this laptop while I was in hospital for transplant, up until it got some sort of dust on it, that causes the system to stop working, support got me to force reset it by holding down the power button for 40 seconds, which seemed to work, but then it stopped charging, went in for repairs and repairs are therefore not covered under warranty as dust is regarded as user damage, the cost of repairs, costs more than the Asus laptop costs, and this is repairs done by Asus. Read the fine print carefully, limited warranty.

Very useful, easy to follow and well presented review. Thank you. I believe the i7 model, with the newer 3050 Ti card, has some newer and higher spec HDMI and Thunderbolt ports too. Also, it would have been very useful if you provided some render speeds and benchmarks for 4K video output from Premiere Pro.
Also, you seem a bit critical of the RTX 3050 card as not being so high end because of its limited 4 gig of RAM. Maybe it’s not so impressive for 3D modeling and 3D rendering. But I think for typical 4K video editing and rendering it’s considered very usable, which is what the majority of content creators would be using it for.

@@JosephKim Thank you for your reply. I know, but this model doesn't support video output through the USB-C. I bought a USB-C hub and I had to return it as it wasn't suited because of this reason.
Commenting this for potential buyers: I am going to list mainly the cons. a. If you have a docking station and connect it through USB-C and expect the charging to work, it won't. The laptop I bought in 2018 had support for charging through USB-C and this one does not, what a shame! b. Lack of a backlit keyboard is a bit of disappointment. c. Nano sized left/right arrows, very small. 15.6" laptop, you have plenty of space for a full-sized keys. d. Most of the ports on the right hand side, seriously? e. No Infra-red camera or fingerprint support for quick login. Again for a laptop you sell in 2022, these are essential features.
those are very valid points however it is necessary in order to reach the laptops price target. None of these issues are on their own deal breakers for me and I beleive others will feel the same way. the speakers may not be loud but they are good quality and do not distort, usb power delivery and displayport through usb c are the most importand missing features in my opinion
@@stephenallen4635 Agree with the speakers, replacing that with a lack of backlit keyboard. Stephen, The review videos cover many good things but these might be useful for others as the investment is reasonably big.

@Fou2i it is more than enough for web development. I've been using it as my main device for software development. I've built multiple projects at once, hosted multiple database servers, etc without any issues. I would suggest you buy the laptop if it was a year ago. Hello, I have had the laptop for a few weeks and I noticed that it makes a "coil" noise before starting to run the fans, it passes the asus diagnostic test in the fan test or when you open some software that needs more resources than it lasts 1 second, this happens with or without battery, in a noise that is not heard so easily, I am worried that it affects the components, is it normal? Responder
The coil noise varies between units and doesn't impact other components. I think what you are describing us more of delayed ramping when it is drawing more power suddenly. Which is quite normal.
@@JosephKim detect that the sound in the test makes the fan for both fans at the beginning it does it with one and then with the other when the speed increases more in the test it does not do it only at the beginning

Hey there! I'm a student about to head into my second year of Cyber Security. I'm looking for a laptop which will allow me to run VMs (16GB RAM required) and allow for some light gaming (literally any GPU). The one featured in this video looks very appealing, but I would be interested to hear other recommendations.
I've just bought the d3500q which is the same laptop with ryzen 5600h instead, the laptop is very well designed, power and voltage limits seem to be hit far more often than thermal. The keyboard is great, battery is good, screen is brilliant and performance is fully capable for what youyre planning to do for now. For your case though if you want to use only a laptop I would reccomend looking at one with expandable memory. For now and for the next few years 16gb will be plenty for you however eventually you will want to upgrade if youre going to be using many virtual machines. It will definitely last you throughout college and a bit further though, however there are options in the same price range like acer aspire 7 and dell inspiron platinum/16 plus models which have similar specs and expandable memory.

Well, the problem with numpads on laptops is that they don't actually try to make a proper use of it. It mostly retains the same 35-years-old layout as it was on PC XT (with empty "5" key). Please don't tell me this is made to keep it "compatible" with XT users. Manufacturers seem to have no problem to mess with any other aspect of the original layout, like removing the space between groups of keys, but they still refuse to improve the numpad. It was shown that the numpad layout CAN be made more useful for todays needs, with one-key copy/paste functions and other handy stuff, without sacrificing any navigation keys (Pg up/dn, Home, End or cursor keys). Take a look at SteelSeries Merc Stealth for a good example of that. So, unless these ideas have made their way to numpad design, I'd rather choose a keyboard with no numpad at all.
@JosephKim In a german review I've read that there is a noticable flickering in the OLED because of PWM, when brightness is set under 60%. Now im really uncertain if i should buy this. Can you confirm this issue? It was model Vivobook Pro 15 OLED M3500QC-L1063

@@kaiman1366 No, for chemical engineering in college. You could look for the performance of the RTX 3050 for laptop (different from desktop) in the modelling software you want. This Asus vivobook 15 oled popped up as an option that contains most of my specs , but I am so unsure if I'll have any problems with it or if it is even the right laptop for interior designing. 😳
Hi Lee. Thanks for reaching out. The school usually has some recommendations on what machine you should buy. That's where you should start. One thing to be aware of is that the screen on the Inspiron 16 plus has a median response time of over 30ms which is slow enough that even 60fps video content can show noticable ghosting, which is when the pixels on the screen cant switch colours fast enough between frames leaving a smeared look when theres a big difference in colour and brightness between frames, like when theres a fast moving object or even when you are just scrolling a website with text on the screen. No other laptop screens that I know of in recent times have a response time this slow, the vivobook shown here for instance has a 1ms response time

The coil noise varies between units and doesn't impact other components. I think what you are describing us more of delayed ramping when it is drawing more power suddenly. Which is quite normal.

How is the battery life ?
How has it been, if you don't mind me asking?
Should i buy vivobook pro ryzen 5 oled or ryzen 7 full hd

I use Dell XPS for my main laptop. I didn't like Inspiron 13 when I tried it.
I have an Inspiron and it’s horrible, has made me never want to buy Dell again.
