    This is the second time I've watched and your take is asinine. Those tacklers were not aiming for Mahomes's midsection. They absolutely led with their forearms with the intent to hit his head, they just so happened to hit each other.

      From their post game comments, Texans went into the game expecting to get bad calls. In that case, the only logical explanation for leading with their forearms and helmet crowns is that they were trying to knock Mahomes out of the game (oh, exactly like the Texans did to Trevor Lawrence, hmmm) and thinking that 15 yards would be worth it to play against Wentz.

      He may not have been trying to game the system this time but he does it so often he’s under a microscope now. Not everyone is just “ jealous” or “ crazy” here.
      How many times have we seen him go toward the sideline like he’s running out just to spin back in last second for more yards? Slow down like he’s going to slide just to see the defenders slow down and start running again for a bit more?
      It’s non stop with this guy. He wants the protection but only when it benefits him. When you pull enough rat moves people start to take notice and get annoyed.
      It’s the leagues fault, the first time he did it years ago they should have flagged him for an unsportsmanlike penalty and created a flop rule of sorts. But here we are.

  • @bookman7409
    @bookman7409 10 дней назад +1

    Yeah, I'm Chiefs fan, but Monson's objectively wrong about the second penalty involving Mahomes. Specifically, the declaration that 'Mahomes went down way later than he should'. I actually agree that the call was ticky-tack, but it was called by cues more than direct observation, and that's actually a good thing. You must keep in mind that the NFL has to be absolutely stringent when it comes to preventing CTE, so if they see or hear indicators of a hit to the head, they'll throw a flag. That's good, because then it's not a judgement call when the official has mere seconds to evaluate everything. If the refs decide on the fly what is or isn't serious enough to be a foul you're going to have errors in judgement that'll be even more controversial.
    He's also wrong because he's not considering the play from Mahomes POV, expecting him to give up when he sees open grass to his left, instead of trying to get more yards. Watch the film, when he cuts left, the gap's there. What he didn't have time to realize was the two defenders who were rushing in to close that gap, so when he realized it, he went down. That the penalty is marginal is obvious, when you have the leisure to watch replays, but the folks on the field don't have that luxury. The game's almost entirely read-and-react, so there's no time to actually make decisions. That's also why "the refs are biased" is hogwash. They literally don't have time to consider whether or not they should intentionally blow a non/call to influence the game.
    If you're sitting on the couch, you're not thinking like you would in the game, so you ain't that smart when you talk when you forget that fact. I'm getting sick of all the nonsense, including calls and "decisions" involving all the other teams. Players make mistakes, and so do refs, and sometimes it's not obvious that they're making a mistake at the time. Human error's an intrinsic part of the game, take away too much and the game will cease to be.
    Yeah, I'm long-winded, but I said a lot more per word than most comments do. Deal.

    Bills YET AGAIN do not have a real defense for their playoff game against KC. This is why they will never beat them in the post season. Chiefs are always healthy enough. They play calculated football; people rag on them for barely winning but they seemingly save their strength for when it matters (now). Bills are missing starting linebacker, starting safety, starting corner and possibly best player in Taron Johnson. Versus who? Playoff version of Chiefs? A win is not happening. Not until Buffalo can bring a healthy team into the post season. There is a reason football is physical. Endurance is a part of the game. If you can beat other people up then it helps you win. Same with boxing. Chiefs have more durable athletes and play more calculated ball because they know what they need down the stretch. I’m not a KC fan but I don’t know how other teams overcome the non-game aspects of trying to beat this team. Just not possible.

    I think it's a dangerous prededence to think guys are doing it on purpose. I highly doubt that's what's going through Mahomes head before he goes down hoping he gets the call. He's putting himself into potentially getting knocked out like Trevor Lawrence. People are just overblowing the vast majority of the Chiefs narrative.
    Feels like it's from people who only watch a few games of theirs a year and not watching snap by snap. It's easy to make a narrative with a handful of snaps you've watched. Patrick Mahomes has 4,171 Career passing attempts, and less than 35 roughing the passing penalties and less than 15 calls for a late hit in his 432 career rushing attempts.
    Just creating a ridiculous narrative when numerically hits on him just aren't called at any egregious rate compared to anyone else.

    What is the outrage about the Bills defense “being so hurt”? They have one starting safety out and their injured CB 99% will most likely be back. They were sooo much more injured last year for the playoff game.. like picking guys off the couch like was referenced. Chiefs are healthier than they were in the week 11 match up but the Bills are actually more healthy than they were in that week 11 match up despite the injuries they have right now….

  • @retrocny5625
    @retrocny5625 8 дней назад

    These teams are so evenly matched that it ALWAYS comes down to 7 or less points, one possession. Sometimes just a field goal. A couple of plays every game(or extremely bad coaching decisions in a game Josh Allen had won) usually determine the winner. Whoever has the ball last, tends to be the winner.
    But I'm starting to think... given how hard it is to beat the same team twice a season, especially at this level of competition, among the league's very best, that the Bills should consider trying to lose against them in the regular season lol, because obviously both teams are expecting to meet each other in the playoffs every year. Joking of course(Or am I? Desperate times call for desperate measures) but I mean damn, the law of averages surely has to go in their favor once right? Like the ball has to bounce in their direction EVENTUALLY. Maybe a pass that was caught in the last game gets dropped this game. Maybe a penalty that wasn't called in the last game, gets called this game. Maybe an interception that was dropped last game, gets caught this game. Maybe last game Pat narrowly evaded a sack on 3rd down during a critical moment, but this game you get that sack and Buffalo gets the ball back. There's all sorts of little 50/50 coin flip moments in these games. And in THIS matchup, this history between the Bills and Chiefs, it just so happens that those 50/50 coin flip moments are what's generally led to their defeat in the postseason.
    I personally picked the Bills this time, and it's the first time I've picked them in a playoff matchup against the Chiefs. I picked the Ravens last week, but I did get the Commanders upset right. I just felt Jayden was playing too good, scoring too many points, and having to play this Lions defense that is so riddled with injuries, especially after they had a bye and may be a little rusty to start the game. Also picked the Rams, because I thought their d-line would do a better job against the running game(and I trusted stafford more to throw the ball in inclimate weather). So the Commanders game is the only one I've gotten right so far. Hoping I'll add another because unless you're a chiefs fan, it's impossible to ignore how big of a feel good story it would be for Buffalo to finally get their revenge, and potentially go on to win their first super bowl in franchise history. I just think, if you're the NFL world outside of Chief's Kingdom, that's probably much more intriguing to you than another KC super bowl appearance and likely 3-peat. The Chiefs are definitely becoming the Villains that the Pats were in the 2000s. The NFL world rejoiced when Eli Manning prevented Brady's perfect season. It'd be a similar thing here.
    PS: Regarding the Buffalo injury stuff, they're way healthier than they were last year. Rapp is the only guy who's confirmed out, everyone else is playing and this is the first playoff matchup against KC in the last couple of years where Buffalo is gonna have their front 7 completely healthy and ready to go. May make the difference. Gonna be a lot better than 32 year old AJ Klein who hadn't played a snap all season prior to that game. The loss of Rapp isn't nothing, it's definitely something...but it feels like Rapp is getting hurt a lot so this isn't new territory for them. The key to the game for me, for the Bills, is they have to find a way to generate pressure on Mahomes while only rushing 4. If they can do it(and they did it quite well in week 11), I like their chances.

    I think the Chiefs are in some serious trouble...
    1) All of the chatter on the officiating favoring the Chiefs will have an effect of the officiating in this game. No official will want to be at the focal point of another questionable call in the Chiefs favor. The NFL also wants this chatter to end. The easiest way to make the chatter go away is for this game to have no such calls or even 50-50 calls.
    2) The chiefs running game is not nearly what it was last season when Pacheco averaged 4.6 YPC. Pacheco seems to have lost some burst post-injury and Kareem Hunt is averaging 3.6 YPC this season. That is a HUGE difference. Without an effective running game, play action will also suffer and the Bills pass rush should be more effective.
    3) Last season, the Bills didn't have either starting LB or much LB depth at all. As you mentioned, AJ Klein had to be activated from the couch and Kelce ate him alive. In Week 11, with just Bernard back, Taron Johnson shadowed Kelce whenever the Chiefs came out in 12 personnel (their most common package) and it limited Kelce to 2 rec for 8 yards. Even in 11 personnel, I imagine Bernard shadows Kelce. Either way, I don't see a big game from Kelce.
    4) Mahomes had 0 rushes in the week 11 matchup. The Bills had Bernard frequently spy Mahomes on passing downs while being close enough to the line (threatening blitz) to occupy a lineman. Bernard would shoot as soon as Mahomes began to roll out of the pocket. Essentially, I think the Bills defend the Mahomes scrambles better than any other team in the league.
    5) The Chiefs protection is not nearly what it was last season. Both tackle spots are a serious issue. Even with Thuney sliding over to LT, now the LG spot is also an issue. Much as it has happened all season, I think Mahomes will have to navigate around several pressures and hurries this game. This will also limited the effectiveness of targeting longer-developing routes to WRs down the field.
    6) The Bills WRs are uniquely constructed to counter a single elite CB (McDuffie). Denver discovered this 2 weeks ago. Any skill position player can be the #1 read on any given play. Based on the Bills offensive output this season, it is clear they can win in a variety of ways, spreading targets to whomever has the most favorable matchup. Additionally, all of the Bills WRs are healthy coming into this game as opposed to their week 11 matchup where Kincaid and Coleman were injured.
    7) The Bills do not turn the ball over. Their 8 turnovers this season are tied for the the lowest total in a season in over 30 years. The Chiefs MO of playing relatively mistake-free and waiting for their opponent to beat themselves won't work against the Bills. The Bills are also #1 is fewest negative plays this season.
    8) Most of the media reasoning as to why the Chiefs have an advantage in this game are abstract or hopeful such as "Reid held plays/schemes back in their previous meeting". Every team has gameplan wrinkles for a specific opponent. That's coaching. But the media comments suggest the Chiefs didn't care about potentially losing the #1 seed in their previous matchup. That's absurd.

Douglas isn’t what he was 2-3 years ago. Johnson is out or diminished. NOBODY on that back end can run with Hollywood or Worthy. After last week Kelce’s gravity will only increase. DHop and Gray will absolutely feast over the middle. If the Chiefs don’t give the ball away they should put up massive numbers in this game!! The team hasn’t had a TO for 8 games and Mahomes hasn’t thrown an INT since week 11. They’ve take care of the ball. Not to mention how that always ratchets up in the playoffs. Taylor blanked Danielle Hunter last week, nobody on that Bills DL is 70% as good as him. Humphries could get the start at LT and kick Thuney back into LG. Then the run game improves massively on top of the pass game advantage. This should be a CLASSIC!!!

    Not like kc beat bills easy. Overtime and a miss fg. Oh they cant beat the chiefs in playoffs. Give me a break. Chiefs barley won 3 superbowls. No other 3 superbowl winners had it that tough. But had 1 loss blowout so dont talk like kc way above the rest. Otherway around just a play better

    Most incredible storyline tjat everyone mentions all year is Digs and Davis. It's incredible!!!! It had to be reset year?????? HOW COULD ANYONE THINK THAT???? IT WAS OBVIOUS FROM LAST SEASON THAT DAVIS AND DIGGS MEAN NOTHING FOR THIS BILLS OFENSE. AND THAT ALLEN WILL JUST PLAY MORE RELAXED. CAUSE HE DON'T HAVE A DIVA ON HIS TEAM.

    I think the Chiefs must score 30 to win this week, and I do not think that is likely.
