  • This video goes over a number of emergent situations and (how helpful!) what to do in those emergent situations. Enjoy!

    Wow. I just came across this video looking for humorous MH simulation videos and the first one that pops up is yours Dr Gallagher. Brought back memories of you training me at Jackson Memorial. Best instructor ever... and a pretty good stand up comedian to boot. If I remember correctly, during my CA-1 year, I caught one of your shows in coconut grove back in 2005.

      Hi Muhammed! Glad to hear from you. Yes, my standup career was (mercifully) short. Billy Crystal, Jimmy Kimmel, and Steven Colbert have yet to lose a wink of sleep worrying that I am going to replace them. Best of luck to you in these difficult Covid times!

      That was what I did. My suggestion (no surprise here) - Keep at your studies. A medical career is a marathon, not a sprint, so good studying over a long period of time will make it happen. Good luck!

      As an ABA boarded anesthesiologist, I recommend that you also plan to become a functional human being. Some people go to medical school, but still miss that goal. Many of them are cardiac surgeons.

      @@southparklion Thank you for that advice. Actually, I am not able to take B's medical course. I am taking Civil Engineering. However, I've heard I can still proceed to medicine after finishing civil engineering. Is that correct?

    @8:00 other things you would want to do is hyperventilate (decrease ICP) and you would want to maintain paralysis to avoid bucking. A high decadron dose probably not the worse thing either

    After the residency for anesthesiologists, do you need to go to fellowship or do you already have the medical freedom and enough pay as a general anesthesiologist?

    • @DrGallaghersNeighborhood
      @DrGallaghersNeighborhood  4 года назад

      You can go out and practice after your residency, a fellowship is not required. If you want to pursue a fellowship, by all means do. The extra training will help you particularly if you go into academic practice.

    What degree should I major in for this kind of career? I've heard biology, chem, psychology..... What undergraduate program leads to a good med school career

    • @DrGallaghersNeighborhood
      @DrGallaghersNeighborhood  4 года назад +1

      I myself majored in Spanish. You can major in anything you want as long as you complete the Pre-Med requirements. I wanted to get as much "Humanities" in before going to Med School. My best friend in Med School majored in Art History. So as you see, you can major in anything at all!
