I thought that Tessie wasn't a very sympathetic character because she was a willing participant until her husband pulled the marked paper. She wouldn't have called it unfair if Dunbar or Graves had pulled it. With my students I compared it to the war on drugs, where middle America supported min-man sentences and harsh drug laws, until the opioid crisis hit and then all of sudden these people who had wanted this harsh, draconian drug laws now were saying these laws were unfair because it was their family members being sent to prison.
@@gettingliteraturewithmr.ra1615 Indeed! I did not want to listen to you before doing my own analysis. I did not want any foreign influence. I can see a few things now after listening to your analysis. I read the story; It was incredibly dull. I even try to listen to an audiobook. Boring... I underlined what I considered important. Gradually I became interested. Finally, I was able to finish my analysis and Plot. The Lottery in my opinion was "Death" It will never go away, even if we try. Young, old, male, or female will die. We all participate, because we are waiting, however we don't want to win it. Old man Warne said that getting rid of the Lottery was a bad idea. He knew that even though we didn't want to win it, it was okay to win it. I enjoyed your analysis, Thank you!
thank you that was a good explanation!

I 100% agree. She’s laughing and enjoying it until her name was called out. What a great sociohistorical comparison!
This was incredibly helpful, thank you (:
you came back after a year
Thank you very much. 👍👍🔝🔝
My analysis was completely different.
I’d love to hear it! I love seeing various perceptions/takes of this story!
