@@Blecyn Your iphone is signifigantly better for video than those two cameras. You'd need to step up to a large sensor camera like the ones I mentioned and good lenses to get a noticeable improvement. Another thing to think about is lighting and audio if you haven't. Both of those are even more important than the camera. Of course this is all just my opinion.
I've never used a hiking pole so I don't have any context. This isn't the strongest monopod. I think if you put too much sideways pressure you'd snap it in half though that would be true for most. They are designed to take vertical loads.

A lot of shooters underestimate how handy a monopod can be. Added feet for stability is a nice bonus.
Seems like a good run and gun option in stead of a tripod
Very nice video
hi from Ukraine / got to buy this one
Hello Scott, please I need your input. Sony DSCHX80 vs Olympus TG-5 which would you recommend for vlogging especially for new RUclipsr
Neither, save up for something that will work for you long term like the sony a6100, canon eos m50, or fujifilm x-t200.
@@ScottJWaldron thank you so much. But I am on a budget that’s why.
@@Blecyn Do you have a decent smartphone? Start with that. Those two cameras wouldn't be any better.
@@ScottJWaldron yes I have been using my iPhone 10 to record for a while now. Thought it was time to change.

Do you think this would work well as a hiking pole (I mean, not superrr heavy use as a hiking pole)

Hi, would you recommend it for a new RUclips talking head channel?
I have carpet floor and using a canon 80D! I need it to extend 4 feet!
Get a normal tripod.
@@ScottJWaldron Gotcha, thank you!
you look taller 't though
I'm ~182cm if you are trying to reference a relative size of the monopod.
@@ScottJWaldron ya never believe me but im about182 cm .
