I disagree, politely. The way John plays it is much more difficult because it sounds like the non-stop chugging of a train. That sound reinforces the idea that you can't stop moving forward in life, seeing loved ones age and die. The way it's being played here is soft, slow, moody, and controlled.
@@brianwalsh9265 Exactly. This sounds more like the guitar pace for say, pink floyd's pillows of wind. The singer has a good voice, but that excessive vibrato really does little to capture the unrest and the nausea of the moving train and the frustration with living that John captures without any vibrato or unnecessary articulation that I see here. :c
@@brianwalsh9265 you know, i absolutely understand your point and that interpretation makes perfect sense. while you see the guitar sound as "non-stop chugging' of the train, my interpretation stems from the restraint these guys showed with the tempo and the plucking, which relates to the hesitation or flat out refusal to move forward with the train, wanting to stop it and get off. could be really far off, but it's what i felt with this version. :)
Great cover, really enjoyed it. What this video does too is highlight how amazingly talented John Mayer is. It takes four people to do this cover and he does this ON HIS OWN.
No, I'm not color blind I know the world is black and white Try to keep an open mind But I just can't sleep on this tonight Stop this train I wanna get off and go home again I can't take the speed it's moving in I know I can't But, honestly, won't someone stop this train? Don't know how else to say it Don't want to see my parents go One generation's length away From fighting life out on my own Stop this train I wanna get off and go home again I can't take the speed it's moving in I know I can't But, honestly, won't someone stop this train? So scared of getting older I'm only good at being young So I play the numbers game to find a way to say that life has just begun Had a talk with my old man Said, "Help me understand." He said, "Turn 68 You'll renegotiate Don't stop this train Don't for a minute change the place you're in Don't think I couldn't ever understand I tried my hand John, honestly, we'll never stop this train" Once in a while when it's good It'll feel like it should And they're all still around And you're still safe and sound And you don't miss a thing 'Til you cry when you're driving away in the dark Singing, "Stop this train I wanna get off and go home again I can't take this speed it's moving in I know I can't 'Cause now I see I'll never stop this train" (Think I got 'em now)
These songs are so damn beautiful I keep crying over and over I'm crying so much I'm getting a headache love it it's so emotional I love it they sound so different like this the words of these songs are just Simon and Garfunkel wow
L'interpretazione si discosta chiaramente dallo stile di John Mayer, tuttavia la trovo bella, degna di nota sia sul piano strumentale che vocale, Arlissa non poteva fare di meglio, bravissima.
Though I always related entire stories production to the general feel of this one song by John Mayer, so intimate and warm feeling. Now they're covering that style in their style :O
Downloaded firmware for my headset, messed around some with the levels, put up the base and treble a little higher. Spent 30 minutes on youtube, got to this song, went back to flat eq again. :)
those guitars captured the mood of the song perfectly

Brian Walsh Well, that’s the most beautiful definition of Stop This Train’s guitar part I’ve ever heard. Thank you for this.

@Brian Walsh ya man I agree. They all sound really good , but the interpretation doesn't serve the song
More John Mayer pleeeeease!!!!!! You’ve got the most beautiful voices!!!!
Chan Yuki Yes please!
I'm a simple man, I see John Mayer, I click.
even if john mayer himself not present
except he is not there
Olivier Langlet literally same

I read « single man » 😂

Take notes...this is how you do a cover. Beautiful mix. Great arrangement. Oh yeah and Ariel Posen.
Great cover, really enjoyed it. What this video does too is highlight how amazingly talented John Mayer is. It takes four people to do this cover and he does this ON HIS OWN.
The guitars are so unique for this cover and her voice is smoooooooth.
Great song as usual. Kudos to whoever set up the lighting. The back light on her glorious curls is perfect.
This song is just a masterpiece... And you all have done an awesome job. That voice is crazy!
Wow amazing! I didn't read the song title, just "John Mayer"... I was amazed when I understood which song it was. Great job!
I thought I was weird for closing my eyes while playing the guitar and singing but it truly is the only way I can focus in the music's feeling
You're such a good singer. I digged the whole band's vibe.
John Mayer should react to this!
Thank you John for the song, and thank you stories for the rendition.
GB!!!
Probably my favorite John Mayer song. And Jesse does a beautiful job on the lap steel as well. Eerily longing.
Divine cover, divine voice, and such a beautiful sound from all those guys…. 🙏
that steel guitar, heaven! 2:20
I wept the first time I really heard this song and the cover has the same effect. THANK YOU for producing such fabulous sound and soul.
arlissa has a voice that matches her gorgeous self. Gosh that's so not fair.
I'm a huge fan of Mayer, I really like this song, and your covered it sooooo well
Not that easy ! Good job guys
Smooth - I saw John Mayer here in Phx last night. Great cover of a beautiful song. Jesse - LOVE the Lap Steel guitar integration.
Beautiful. We could be happy , to stumble into this for the evening. A memory worth remembering.
And just like that, our world is better place because of this masterpiece. Well done!
No, I'm not color blind
I know the world is black and white
Try to keep an open mind
But I just can't sleep on this tonight
Stop this train
I wanna get off and go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't
But, honestly, won't someone stop this train?
Don't know how else to say it
Don't want to see my parents go
One generation's length away
From fighting life out on my own
Stop this train
I wanna get off and go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't
But, honestly, won't someone stop this train?
So scared of getting older
I'm only good at being young
So I play the numbers game to find a way to say that life has just begun
Had a talk with my old man
Said, "Help me understand."
He said, "Turn 68
You'll renegotiate
Don't stop this train
Don't for a minute change the place you're in
Don't think I couldn't ever understand
I tried my hand
John, honestly, we'll never stop this train"
Once in a while when it's good
It'll feel like it should
And they're all still around
And you're still safe and sound
And you don't miss a thing
'Til you cry when you're driving away in the dark
Singing, "Stop this train
I wanna get off and go home again
I can't take this speed it's moving in
I know I can't
'Cause now I see I'll never stop this train"
(Think I got 'em now)
Thank you
These songs are so damn beautiful I keep crying over and over I'm crying so much I'm getting a headache love it it's so emotional I love it they sound so different like this the words of these songs are just Simon and Garfunkel wow
