Wow, Xmas came early for me, thank you WST! I absolutely adore Spaceman, can listen to him talking about basically anything for hrs, so this is a treat.
Excellent!! I didn't know that Dominic does woodwork on cues. I'm a violin maker and amateur player and love doing cues. It was very good of him to spend the time to give you this advice.
As a Chinese fan, still remember Dominque Dale winning the Shanghai Master with the fancy color shirt and golden hair and he beat Ryan Day in the final. It was really a struggle for the commentator because their last name sounds very similar.
Green baize is tops. Stu even did a throw/ deflection test for my cue since I couldn’t make the trip from the us. Get yourself a Maximus Thai made cue. They are amazing and way cheaper than Parris
I have a Maximus Legend I bought from Green Baize, I also finally received my Parris I had on order in October. Yes the Parris was more expensive, but how it plays is so much better than the Maximus. Virtually zero throw, much better action on the cue ball and more power. Both are 19oz, 3/4 joint, 9.5mm ferrule, G2 tip. I would say the difference between them in terms of craftsmanship however is very little. Parris just edges it.
@@sis-297 yeah gotta spend the little extra money and get at least the legend plus. The regular Maximus legend is just a standard shaft. The plus is a higher grade ash and aged longer to have less mass and therefore less throw. My legend plus has virtually no throw/deflection. But it’s hard to imagine any cue playing better than my 1pc Maximus ultimate. I’m sure a Parris ultimate plays pretty awesome but I doubt it plays £1,600 more awesome
@@IFranchisedI no it won’t, for sure. At the top level of each of the best cue makers they are all going to be very similar. One other thing I didn’t mention about my Parris over the Maximus is the balance of the cue. That’s another area it’s much better. End of the day it’s not the brand that guarantees a good cue, it’s how it feels to you.
@@sis-297 yes absolutely I do wish the balance was farther back. I know Parris cues have a balance back at 16-17inches on a lot of the 58s and 59s which will definitely have better feel and control and that can be huge
Yeah mine is balanced at 15” just before the join on the butt. Feels amazing when cueing, and my game has really improved in the two months I’ve had it.
Yes indeed, but which one is best? Kinda tempted to go plain ebony maximus in the pro edition. But, omin is about 15 Mins from my place in Bangkok. Choices, choices.
Judd Trump hero, is an absolute genius and such a privilege to watch him still at the top of the game 30 years after he won the UK championship for the first time. The longevity is unbelievable. Ronnie O'Sullivan GOAT ♥ 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
Did he say he keeps his cue as vertical as he can over the summer months? I was taught to keep it horizontal when stored away to distribute any conceivable moisture more evenly throughout the cue, should there be any at all.
@@snooker9773 sorta the same thing but I'm sure he wasn't comparing himself to them I just found it funny. Gotta love dom and his commentary is also good
Doesn't matter how long cue is - you don't have to hold it at any precise distance from the rear end - you can adjust according to how tall/short you are.
That's not the case, a cue has a balance point which is why some cues feel better and play better than others. I make cues and specialise in cues for taller players that need something longer than the standard 57/58 inches and getting the balance right is imperative for good feel.
£300-400 for a beginner's cue?! WTH! Has he ever actually met a beginner? You can get a decent starter cue that can play all the shots for £100. Obviously if you want to take the game seriously you can spend more money and get a better cue, but if you are just playing once a week with your mate then £300 is a lot of money!
😂 I had to come back and find this comment. Since I read it I can't stop thinking about Dominic Dale working part-time in a Chinese restaurant. Of all the people in the world it would surprise me least. I can fully imagine him doing it just to get out of the house and talk to people 😂 Anyway thanks, I've had a lot of fun with this in my head!
I always see Judd play with 60 % luck, and 40% ability. He hits hard and hope because 6 pockets. When long shots don't go in he is a very average player. We saw how Mark Allen destroyed him 10-3..On the other hand watch how better Ronnie & Hendry play, they are far far better. That's why Ronnie & Hendry are the two greatest and most successful players in snooker. Ronnie GOAT 🐐 & then Hendry 🐐
I've always like Dale seems a very humble guy and has become a very good commentator on TV keep up the good work dom
But he’s crap at snooker 😂
@@AlanBrown-d8wbettee than youll ever be though.
Dom is as friendly in person and happy to talk as he is here. He comes for a practice at my local club every now and again. Top guy

Same , what a knowledgeable man he is
Really 😂

Yup..hes also had 100s of cues...used to turn up at most tournaments with a different cue👍
Met Dale in York. Very polite and friendly.
Dale looks like such a nice person, always wearing a beautiful smile

Best person to ask about cues. He’s had more cues then the rest of the tour combined 😂
And first cue shop he mentions is craftsman cues. Which he says is at Leeds. But it’s actually kippax. On the outskirts
What a great guy Dale is
Dominic is so knowledgeable. I love his commentary! Great player too 😎
Love Dominic such a gentleman

Dominic is a such a good guy
Fascinating info from a proper gent. Kudos Dominic.
Thank you, Spaceman! So much cue knowledge.
Dominik, thanks for that. I learnt something new about cues.
I really needed this type of basic information about cues. its very helpful, Thanks.
from what I've heard, Dom is also a great cues collector
About time, all commentators hate it, but I’ve been looking forward to these videos for a while now.
Dale knows his onions, very knowledgeable chap.
Such a polite, pleasant and well-spoken man. Not like like a lot of the other players then lol :)
Anyone remember him snapping a cue against a wall in the WC after losing to Jimmy White? Early 00s this was
Great Video. Agree with what Dom says... Thai cues are superb and the craftsmanship are better than Parris!

@UnboxRacing never tried an Omin cue. I had a maximus ultimate and now playing with a VR Ultimate which is superb.

Anyone knows what time Jack Hyperski is play today ?
Top man Dominic!!
I wonder what he thinks about carbon fibre cues? They don't seem as flexible as ash, but somehow have less deflection? Not sure how that's possible.
Stuart Bingham in the background shot in the first 2 minutes has put on lots of weight really quickly 👍
May it will help his game 😃
That’s not Stuart Bingham you absolute weapon
It's obviously Stephen Lee
Did he say he keeps his cue as vertical as he can over the summer months? I was taught to keep it horizontal when stored away to distribute any conceivable moisture more evenly throughout the cue, should there be any at all.
A very good interview, which will certainly interest most players.
Who is the man interviewing Dominic Dale and what is his name?
Tai Chengzhe
More on cues please!!
All Hail The Dale !!!
Maximus cue all day long you can pick up a decent maximus for £300 no problem
A lot of the great players such as judd, john Higgins or myself 😂😂 gotta love Dom
It sounds ok if he said "or" not "and".
Judd the one time and never again world champion?

Love the spaceman. But he’s had more cues than Heathrow airport.
Classy guy Dale.Rather have Dale on WST than classless Judd Trump. Always nice to see him lose. Great in Zhang Anda 🏆
Mr dale is definitely top 3 snooker players of all time for me. Just above gary wilson !
Top of your list would be Joe Swail 👍
Are you being serious?
Dominic is a great guy I knocked him over once at the Welsh open he was running to table and he ran into me haha

I paid 200 for a a ash peradon cue
Finally , a decent cure to insomnia, thank you WST
Ah-haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!
Dominic talks old cues on my Channel Cues n Views.
Lyndsey Doyle ? (Lemon Curry)

Respect the player just can’t do with his accent
Fed up of seeing Dale the space jockey 😂
You want a Burwatt Champion or Lindrum 3262 cue...haha
Good advice'
Dale reminds me of JAWS from James Bond
