    Great video, and dual batteries are the way to go. The reason you get higher speeds as the battery drains is because of less voltage sag. On a single battery, you have one output feeding the controller, and there is natural voltage sag when the battery is under load. With two batteries, the load is shared and the voltage sag is reduced, allowing a higher voltage under load. The RPM of the motor is a result of the voltage (kV x v = rpm).
    Sorry your battery got scratched up. I prefer batteries that have an ignition type lock that locks the battery AND controls the power. However, most have a simple lock and a separate switch. Not only does this design allow for mishaps like the battery falling off, but anyone can turn your battery on and ride away.

The double battery set up is so fantastic! Beautiful ride! Love all the trees and once again so cool to see the E community all together. Did you open the angle on your Go Pro? This battery really makes me nervous. Running two identical battery packs in parallel comes with a risk. But running two separate brand packs like this is a huge risk unless the manufacture has safe guards in place. Crossing fingers these dont produce a Louis Rossman. Good ride!

    Personally I wish that Chibatterysystems made a safe product. Running batteries in parallel, even between identically rated has a chance for damage unless there’s an ideal diode like thr DATEX2.
    It’s apparent that there are flaws that’s why they aren’t willing to warrant their kit and leave the liability solely on the buyer.

    I am an ebike guy but based upon how you ride....the 73 is not conducive to pedaling ergonomically...I come from the world of competitive cycling...to me the 73 is a waste of money. The Honda Grom for about the same price if you add in your extra battery...the Grom is faster, has better suspension and brakes, turn signals...is a much better bike for what you use it for. I own a 2000w e-bike I built, but if you don't pedal, a Grom is much better than your bike or a Sur-Ron. A motorcycle seat or banana seat will tear your crotch up if you try supplementing your battery power with pedaling. Your bike is a low power electric motorcycle which falls short of a real motorcycle like a Grom for the same money which will do 60 mph stock and 70mph with basic mods and gets 130 miles to the gallon with average riding. Takes 5 minutes to fill the tank versus charge time of both your batteries.

    Hey Peter. Love your videos. Very informative. I also ordered a battery pack from Chi. I was wondering how accurate your miles on the screen is? For some reason I fully charged both batteries but it’s only showing 89% Have you encountered any bugs or kinks as well?

    • @thepeterparkershow
      @thepeterparkershow  3 года назад +1

      Hey Ronald, thanks for your support brother! Did you charge both batteries separately to 100% and then mounted them together before turning on the bike? I haven’t had that issue. Although i have noticed that my stock charger sometimes doesn’t charge both batteries to 100%. But then I plug them again and charge to 100% no problem.

    • @TheRontri23
      @TheRontri23 3 года назад

      @@thepeterparkershow Thanks for replying! And ya, I did charge both batteries separately to 100% I did encounter that issue where I had to switch both batteries off and on to recharge. Quick question. How do you charge yours? Do you switch on the stock battery and Ranger on then charge it? Or do you just switch on the stock battery to charge while the Ranger is off. I’m trying to reach out to Chi to get some clarification on their charging protocols.

    • @thepeterparkershow
      @thepeterparkershow  3 года назад +2

      So you can charge 1 battery or both at the same time. You don’t have to turn on the ranger to charge it (unlike the stock battery). I have to stock chargers, so I use both to charge both batteries at the same time. You can charge either the stock or the ranger and they will both charge together (with one charger and even with the ranger off). As long as they are both connected to the bike, they will charge equally sharing the same voltage. Hope this helps.

      52v nominal is the same as 54v. 52 is the proper "accepted" name for a 14S battery but some (more shady) battery stores sell 14S batteries as 54V because that's their voltage at max charge.
