- ראש הממשלה בנימין נתניהו נפגש עם שניים מהחיילים המצטיינים, סגן אצ'נאפי מספין שעלה מאתיופיה בילדתו וסמלת רייצ' ל לנדרס שעלתה מארה"ב לפני כשנתיים. שניהם לחמו ב-7 באוקטובר בעוטף עזה, לאחר מכן השתתפו בלחימה בעזה ופועלים גם כעת בתפקידים שונים.
ראש הממשלה נתניהו למצטיינים:
"אני יושב פה עכשיו עם אצ'נאפי ורייצ'ל, שניים מה-120 החיילים והחיילות המצטיינים שלנו, שעושים למען ביטחון ישראל.
אני רוצה לברך אתכם. אתם מייצגים את הטוב שבמדינת ישראל ואת הנחישות שלנו להגן על המדינה שלנו ולבצר את העתיד שלנו".
המפגש עם החיילים התקיים לפני מספר ימים ושודר הבוקר כחלק מטקס לכבוד 120 מצטיינים ומצטיינות בבית הנשיא.

אני שומע חיילים שבאים הביתה למספר ימים ואומרים שבחזית יש חיבור, יש אחדות, ששם החיים האמיתיים. כואב לשמוע שבינינו קשה להם לנשום, אבל הכאב מהול בשמחה גדולה בלב. בהחלט לא ראינו דברים כאלו ולא חשבנו שבדור שלנו החיילים מהמרכז הבטוח ימהרו לצאת ולחזור לאותם אזורי לחימה מסוכנים, כי שם הם מרגישים חיים. אנחנו עוברים לימוד גדול עכשיו, ונקווה שהוא ייתן סימן בליבנו, שלא יברח, שלא יישכח. אני תולה בזה תקווה גדולה.
איך פתאום חברה של לוחמים, בלי שאף אחד יסביר להם שכך צריך להיות, מרגישים מבפנים שרק החיבור יציל אותם. ברור להם שהחיים של כולנו תלויים לגמרי באחדות העם, שכול הכוחות יגיעו לנו דווקא משם. אני רואה את זה, אני מרגיש, אני שומע, ומקווה שהרוח הזו תלך ותתפשט ותקדם אותנו אל התיקון השלם, בלי שנצטרך לעבור עוד חורבנות.
אומנם לא בדרך קלה, אבל דרך החיילים אנחנו זוכים היום לתיקונים גדולים, לא רק ביניהם אלא בכל האומה. זוכים לחיבור. כנראה שהגיע הזמן, התמלאה סאה מסוימת ואנחנו נכנסים למצב חדש. ומה שאנחנו רואים, חזית מאוחדת ומנגד עורף שחוזר להילחם בתוך עצמו, גם זה חלק מהעניין. המראה ההופכי הזה יכול להביא אותנו לתובנות, לחשבון נפש עמוק, וסוף סוף להחלטה נכונה במלחמה באויב.
החיילים נלחמים עבורנו באויב שרוצה להרוג אותנו, שרוצה לזרוק אותנו מפיסת הקרקע שלנו, אבל נגד האויב הפנימי כל אחד מאיתנו יצטרך להילחם, לתפוס את האגו ולחנוק אותו. זיהוי האויב: כל דבר שמקרב אותנו לאחר הוא חבר, כל דבר שמעורר בנו דחייה מהאחר הוא אויב.
ובינתיים מורגש שמה שקרה לנו בחודשים האחרונים ריכך לנו קצת את הלב, אבל לאן זה יתפתח קשה לדעת. עם ישראל כבר עבר בגלל האגו הגדול והמפלג שלו דברים שקשה לתאר, ולמרות זאת חזר לשנאת אחים. נקווה שהפעם לא תהיה יותר חזרה.
כרגע, כל מה שצריך מאיתנו הוא להיות בלב ונפש עם כל החיילים שלנו בכל החזיתות, במה שהם עוברים, איפה שהם נמצאים, להתפלל עבורם ואם אפשר להכין להם מקום טוב לחזור אליו. לרצות להיות באחדות בינינו ויחד איתם.
