      @@iainsear7830 He's married to a badger now - or maybe it's Anita Dobson and he's become a badger. As kids, he lived down the road from me, one of my brothers went to the same grammar school. I don't remember him at all. Nor does my brother. Nor does anyone from the area. Guitar and drum practise was OK though, no one could hear a thing for the aircaft noise.
      I'm sure he played a lot of guitar though. He's actually QUITE GOOD!

      @@iainsear7830 This "Brian May" bloke - he'd know about Heathrow Airport. On Sundays they would strap jet engines onto whacking great tethered sleds and run them up all day for some sort of tests. All Sunday, this *&^%$%^& din......some other chap from the same road did "Tubeway Army" (Cars etc) which was really clever - not really "talent", more "Vision" when the rest of us urchins were awaiting the blizzard of crane flies in the autumn to pull their wings off. Yes, we've a lot to answer for. That was Gary Newman. It's not everybody that has played their self-made guitar on top of Buck House though - that's rock n' roll, that is. But it's amazing that anyone escaped for a career in music with the racket that Heathrow made on Sundays, you'd think all anyone could play would be a single-note raga after that lot. They don't do that any more but it was a nice sort of place, no shortage of green places for kids to play. Today, it's tattoo parlours, burger shops, horrible cars everywhere, single mums and the little church on Bedfont Green still has that awful misguided topiary which has disfigured so many wedding shots as part of a "beauty spot"....beyond all human conprehension why they still do that because the church that it obscures is beautiful. People are strange. Fare thee well, traveller.

    KS is my virtual teacher for many years. I had bought his first book : Blues Guitar: Introduction to Acoustic Blues (with K7). An excellent teacher. He said : you have to play what you can play. It s very important to understand and the guitar of KS is now for me the best way to practice because I can play chord and improvise with no pain. so find your teacher

    They sound like extra light strings, I wonder if that helps?
    And thanks for the lesson, I play banjo, just getting into this on guitar, it sounds great.

    ok, when you use a thumb pick, you must connect your thumb with string. So you pick at a time thumb and thumb pick.

    Kenny, After playing and singing for over 50 years with a pick........finally getting somewhere with fingers and thumb picks! I played the banjo too! BUT, how do you switch in the middle and strum..WITH the picks still on your fingers?? I am learning the picking with a double HEAVY thumb like my buddy Comer Moon Mullins! 'Bout got Freight Train licked! SO........any hints for the strumming part? Thanks, KP

      Just try it man, i have complete faith in you. There is a man who was born with no arms, and does everything with his feet , even drive and what is shocking, he also plays guitar exceptionally well with his feet alone.

    Wouldn't growing out your nails act as finger picks?

    • @zachary1657
      @zachary1657 4 года назад +1

      There are two different types of "finger picks" nails have the "pick" part at the top of the finger while the typical finger pick has the "pick" part at the bottom of the finger/finger pad. They also make finger picks that are designed to be at the top almost like artificial finger nails. Having it at the bottom allows you to almost slide or roll over the strings and make a rolling triplet, which is harder to do/not possible with the "top facing" picks or nails because your finger will just get stuck on the string. So with fingernails or the top finger pick style inorder to get that rolling triplet sound you have to pick the triplet out really fast, it doesnt really sound the same but yeah.

      Some people like me have difiicult to keep their nails long without breaking them.
      So if I want a smooth sound I will play with finger flesh. If I want a loud sound I will go with my picks.
