Your videos are excellent. I've been painting for 20 years and still I learn small but new tricks from folks like you. Seeing what someone else used for a color palette also helps a lot for when I just want to get some units done and up on ebay.
3 years ago, but this is the right time for me to say thanks! They look over the scale awesome when you take into account with how littel effort you get this result. I will ahve to paint to free folk starter sets, so this is exactly what i was looking for.
Ignore those with such empty lives that they go out of their way to complain about everything. You have taught me a lot already and its clear to anyone with half a brain cell that you aren't out to offend anybody. Please keep making content and don't be discouraged.
My free folk starter box is getting here tomorrow and I am going to implement this method! I especially loved the frosty dry brush at the end. Thank you :)
They look absolutely amazing, regardless of the fact that you speed painted them using only inks. I'm not a Free Folk player but I'm considering using this technique on my second unit of Umber Berserkers.
I spent last week trying out this technique and I am amazed by the results. I pained 26 raider figures and they all look quite presentable for what was about 9-10 hours of work. I did a fair bit of experimenting with mixing the inks and various washes and you can get some really nice effects that way. I am planning on doing most of my other Free Folk models this way and might actually end up the only player in my ASoIaF group with a fully painted army :) Thanks for the great video.
Welcome back brother, you have been missed. Looks great as always. in eagerly awaiting your video on the Leviadon you were working on. Can't wait to get started on my own. With moving and a recent accident/injury to my hands I've had to take some time off of painting sadly. But I have been living vicariously through you and your amazing videos, especially your Deepkin ones. Hang in there bud, and keep up the great work
totally copying this tomorrow on my raiders. great job, now if you could do Trappers that would be awesome, maybe mix a little contrast in there as well lol
Super super impressed with your logo change and your attitude toward taking the constructive feedback. Seriously. You are a class act. You have a fan for life.
Amazing! What a perfect technique for these guys! Well done! Will you be painting the other free folk units? Trappers? Giants? Thanks for this video, it's going to make life so easy after inking 4 units of these guys.
Aaron Cattle it can, so for certain models you’d need to clean them off first. For these I really don’t find them noticeable, especially in a big unit.
Really nice painting and group effect. Great idea to use inks. The snowy appearance is a nice idea and gives a winter feeling to the figurines. I wonder if the snow effect would also look nice on your NW figurines. Did you use this ink technique on other figurines? EDIT: just found that i already dropped a comment. Asking new questions anyway :)
Impresive result, thx for the video! I just wonder if it is as simple as that for a noob like me :) Shall try it for sure. EDIT: just feeling sorry for you feeling the need to apologize for something which had obvisouly only one meaning : being addicted to mini painting.
Vallejo products are fairly tough to find in my neck of the woods. I do have a set of artist inks though. Would those work, maybe if mixed with some Liquitex medium?
I have painted once in my life, I will try it one more time before giving up. Is there a Vallejo replacement for Shade: Seraphim Sepia (its double the price of the Vallejo inks)?
The MiniJunkie No problem, I just got the starter set so I’m trying to learn how to paint them all, also where do you buy your paints from? I’m fairly new to model painting
I'm new in this hobby. For the primer If I don't have an airbrush, could I use a normal brush and get a good result? BTW, excellent tutorials and videos!
Jose Mock thanks! Yes you could hand brush white primer, although it may be more prone to showing brush strokes or obscuring detail. Might be better off with a spray can primer.
Maybe I'm missing this somewhere, but what brushes are you using? I noticed them in your Robb Stark video as well and they look like they would be really nice to try out.
I'd recommend a good quality size 1, or maybe a 0 if you want finer details. But a size 1 sable hair brush with a sharp tip can do most of what you need.
You should put more hypo needles. Fuck outrage culture; do what you want. edit: I can't believe how good that looks with just the inks. Changes the way I look at ink.
Glad you didn’t change the channel’s name. This dictatorship of the politically correct is incredibly stupid and senseless. People get offended over nothing. You shouldn’t have apologized because that really wasn’t fair feedback.
Sometimes I wonder if I invented Contrast paints :P
I can't believe how good they look for only using inks. Great job!
Nick brady right? I'm finding it hard to go back to regular paints now, lol!

This is the coolest speed paint video I have seen in a while. LOVE the look of them. Well done you have just inspired me.
Mark itZero thank you very much!
They look freaking awesome. Sweet job!! Also, good to see you back at it.

I´ve painted almost 100 Free folk now using this tutorial. Many thanks!
Erik that’s awesome to hear!
Very inspiring tutorial.
My free folk starter box is getting here tomorrow and I am going to implement this method! I especially loved the frosty dry brush at the end. Thank you :)
Awesome, looking forward to seeing how you get on with them!
spettacolo!!!!!veloce e bellissimo risultato!!
They look crazy good. I might have to buy a set of inks
They look absolutely amazing, regardless of the fact that you speed painted them using only inks.
I'm not a Free Folk player but I'm considering using this technique on my second unit of Umber Berserkers.
Dean Rothwell thanks! Yep it’s usable across a variety of the CMON minis IMO
I love these models - definitely getting myself some of them, thanks for sharing - Really good finish on these.... 🍻🍻👍👍👌
I really enjoy watching your painting tutorials! Keep up the good work :)
That's great. I might borrow that.
I was planning to give them a brown can spray then work up with ink washes and dry brushing.
Great job, saving this tutorial for upcoming Warcry warbands :)
Superb job, they look fantastic.
Welcome back! I'm happy to see your work again!

Hey man, just wanted to let you know I dig your videos and keep doing what you’re doing!

Need more ASOIAF painting vids man, these are super helpful!

Outstanding sir
Awesome!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I would love to see you paint the giants from this line

paradox1995 thank you! I might do the others, yep, although I feel like the giants are too cool looking to speed paint :)
Jarrett, good to see you painting again! Sorry about Patreon. I hope everything keeps moving forwards and upwards for you!
rustedbeetle thank you RB!
@@TheMiniJunkie Just sent a tip, which should cover a Space Marine shoulder pauldron. Left side, probably.
rustedbeetle lol thank you sir!
They look great. I would have thought the ink technique would really show off the mold lines?

Gonna soak this Up Later!

wait for next ASOIAF video
Do you have any tips for basing with snow? Awesome video
Milli to be honest I’d say get GW Valhallan Blizzard and apply that - it’s a great product!
Nice !
Nice job 🤟🏻

Good to see you back! These look really good! Do you have a sense of how long you spent on these guys?
Matt Cappelli maybe a few hours but I was slowed down by filming and whatnot. I did two full units though, even though I only show one at the end.
I wonder if contrast paints would work.
Melanie Dawn definitely
Great tutorial! Any experience with using other primers (sand, light grey, bone,...) or do you swear by a white undercoat?
Henk Vervaeke I think I’ve tried them in the past - they can work but I just use white now.
Have you done one for Jaime Lannister in his golden kings guard armour?
M O not so far
The MiniJunkie Do you have any plans to do that in the future?
M O unfortunately it’s unlikely as I have other forces to paint lined up before Lannisters
The MiniJunkie No problem, I just got the starter set so I’m trying to learn how to paint them all, also where do you buy your paints from? I’m fairly new to model painting
M O I started painting the starter Lannister's but stopped as I wasn't happy with how it was going. I mostly buy my paints at gaming or hobby stores.
great video ! not sure i like the flesh color , any suggestions for something lighter ?
Ernest Reimer could maybe thin the brown with water or just use reikland flesh shade perhaps
Can you paint the giants ?
I'm new in this hobby. For the primer If I don't have an airbrush, could I use a normal brush and get a good result? BTW, excellent tutorials and videos!

Aaron Blackman Winsor and Newton Series 7, size 1 and 2
@@TheMiniJunkie Thanks!
Inks check. Need you to to show me how to do the Giants
Stephen Miles problem is I haven't figured that out for myself yet!
Follow up question, what brush size do I need? (Yes, I am clueless)
I'd recommend a good quality size 1, or maybe a 0 if you want finer details. But a size 1 sable hair brush with a sharp tip can do most of what you need.
Which Matt varnish is best. A spray or a brush type
Both can work. I tend to airbrush mine. Spray can ones make me nervous because they can frost up on the mini sometimes.
@@TheMiniJunkie I don’t have airbrush
Could you recommend a Matt varnish I could paint on ?
😍😍😍
MY MAN
bootsy 😁
Not sure how easy it is to get Vallejo inks where I live, my have to see if Army Painter washes work as a suitable replacement.
Ross Chippendale they likely won’t work quite the same unfortunately, although you could test it
@@TheMiniJunkie I managed to find some srtist Acrylic Inks by Daler Rowney. Hopefully they give the same results. Time will tell 😀
Do you think this technique would work with grey primer?
Hankenstein only fairly light grey
What about to use that technique with pre-shading ?
Slabo Kluska yes, that could work although I would only use light grey, otherwise the inks just look black over black paint.
@@TheMiniJunkie thanks for reply, soon I will experiment with that (thinking off light green with white on top)
Hello ! Is it possible to use Citadel Shade instead ? Thanks !
They will produce much lighter results. However, Contrast paints (releases since this video was posted) will work well.
@@TheMiniJunkie Thanks a lot !!
What size brush are you using?
paradox1995 I tend to use size 1 and 2
Jesus H..... people are SO effin weak now. Offensive. Give me a break. Everyone is looking for an excuse to complain. Keep doing what you're doing.
Hal Martin hah, it’s ok - I don’t mind the new logo anyways :)
@@TheMiniJunkie New logo is great. But montage and collage of pics offends me. Best change that too.
@@TheMiniJunkie You doing local commissions yet?
Hal Martin not so far no
@@TheMiniJunkie Too bad. I'd like my LotR Journeys in Middle-Earth heroes done.
