Today afternoon my hamster passed away, he was fighting with stroke and dehydration same time, it had fight for two days and afternoon after drinking water, it just passed away ... Like it was only waiting for me, just wanted to see me for last time Pray for it please, it may get good afterlife ... God
my hamster* mochi had to be put down because she had a tumor on her stomach. i miss her so much and cry every night thinking of the good times i’ve had with her. i miss her
The best thing for them is Pedialyte. The reason water didn’t do much is because the water dilutes all the nutrients in his body. Gatorade is okay for them but is really sugary.

I didnt realize my Hubby's "Lil Buddy"'s water bottle was malfunctioning and he was severely dehydrated til I saw this then saw him fall off his lil ledge and land on his back and couldn't move. He looked EXACTLY like this. He's slowly getting better now thanks to you. God bless your soul. Xo
You cannot say I did not realize having a pet! Zero excuses. I have a dwarf hamster and few times a day I touch the water bottle tip if it is dripping and once short work 2 day trip I leave extra water dish and another bottle! Too much? Maybe, my pet is happy pet and is my responsibility to be so! Full stop!
Thank you!! Praise the Lord! We came home and felt so guilty. Our little one is struggling. Our second one was shaky. Second one is already eating. We're still trying with our little one but, we know she is strong. This helped out a lot! (The water bottle we got sticks a lot and found out that it was just completely stuck and they weren't getting any water.)
Poor little guy. Sugar or honey or corn syrup mixed with water is much better than plain water in this situation. Also unflavored Pedialyte may be a better option than Gatorade but...that said you do the best with what you have and as long as the little fella pulls through that's all that matters. Its so nice to see you care so much to do all this for your little buddy. Very sweet.
Just found my hamster severely dehydrated. Came across this video and did exactly the same. It took around 3 hours but shes back to her normal self, thanks to this video ❤ great help :)
The minerals and electrolytes were deficient and it helped almost immediately. I had tried to give him water for a couple of hours before I spoke with my smartest friend who suggested gatorade. It worked immediately.
I always stay beside my dwarf hamster when summer started... I put ceramic tiles in our refrigerator and when it cools I put it inside their cage so they can lay down there,i also put few bedding in them do and always check their water.. I hope my ham2x will be ok all d way this summer...

My cousin didn't take care of my hamster when I was on vacation and it died of dehydration. That memory still hurts so much when I watch these videos 😭 My father wouldn't let me say my last goodbyes because he thought I would catch some stupid disease 😢 Such a terrible way to die...

My hamster is going through the exact thing. I have electrolyte water and I am giving it to her. I don’t have a fire place so I put how water near her so she’ll have warmth. I would like some more information if you can. I feel she is doing good

The reason I say "I think" is because mine looked exactly like how this one did but since he was my first hamster i never knew to give him water when he was like that. I hope he did die then though because we buried him very soon after and I hope to God I didnt bury my live hamster :(
many reasons, maybe heat stroke, the hamster cant move after that. Maybe food poisoning or sickness, they will be reluctant go eat or drink. Maybe trauma, fall die from a height, seems okay at first, but symptoms manifest late. Maybe water bottle stucked.
I tried this it really worked my hamster was dying she wouldn’t drink water from her water bottle.So I used a Syringe with water and gave it to her and she’s starting to eat and drink more

U can also use a small water dish.. It will cause less bacteria since it is easy to clean.. Keep it on a level.. I'm sorry u had to through this.. I haven't seen my hamster drink water in a while so I was really scared.. I use a small bowl and put water in it.. I don't know if he's using it.. If you are worried if ur hamster is dehydrated u can pinch its back... If it goes down slowly ur hamster is dehydrated if it's going quickly then ur hamster is hydreted... Hope this helps♥️
I have a guinea pig my friend (not anymore) nearly starved and dehydrated to death. She doesn't want to move but she's not laying on her side so I guess that's a plus. I am fucking crying right now. This is how my hamster looked yesterday when he died. He layed on his back and couldn't walk and looked just like how yours was when it was dehydrated. I buried him soon after and I hope to fucking God I didnt just bury my dehydrated hamster yesterday. When my hamster died he wasnt moving and his eyes were slanted but still open. lay on stomach straight and still means your hamster very relax and happy. if you touch it, and it response rapidly, then nothing to worry about. laying back is also no problem. dehydration, try pinch the back, if it snap back, it is hydrated. if it bcome like old man skin, its dehydrated
Unfortunately my little girl didn't make it. We took her to a vet and we told them we were trying to rehydrate her with Pedialyte but they said they had not heard of such thing! She got better after an hour of feeding her Pedialyte but when the vet took her in to check up on her we were told she was in a really bad condition. We left her overnight hoping they could cure her but they couldn't. Our baby got diarrhea as well and she didn't make it. I'm so glad other people's hammies are well.
I've read that hampsters are prone to eye issues with age. We have one that we took and got eye drops for. It really didn't seem to help. I suggest taking it to a vet if you have medical questions. Good luck, maybe it's nothing at all.
Hey, I'm 5 years late huh? Thanks for the amazing advice. My hampster, Krauser, was on deaths door until we gave him some Gatorade and I think the electrolytes saved him. He went from not being able to move or anything to walking, eating, biting me lol, and acting normal other than some shakyness as in the video. I owe you my friend, the best I can give is a sub. No, but he was an escape artist. This time he was super dehydrated and their metabolism works so fast that I thought he was dead when we found him. I was walking him to the dumpster when he moved ever so slightly.

K C lemon lime, but then I bought unflavored pedialyte and feed her that for about a week just to make sure she didn't relapse.

Water bottle was leaking and didn't notice my little guy had no water. This is exactly what he was like. He didn't make it unfortunately

Codytheman I think it was just a clear color, but I think the electrolytes are the important piece.
Does Pedialyte work just as well to replenish electrolytes?

I would try pedialyte, but I would mix it with a little bit of regular water just in case it has too many electrolytes and stuff
