The release rate for these robosen things is insane. I feel like even 1 a year would be pushing it for most of their potential customer base

This is insane, I mean even for 1500 bucks like holy smokes man! I never thought I would live to see the day that a transformer would walk, talk and transform on its own, and I feel like as time goes on these kind of products will become more commonplace.

You're hopefully being sarcastic, otherwise I don't think you know what "brand honesty" means.
Robosen is really taking it to the next level this year, there were so many bots I didn't even think would be made by now.
Best G1 Grimlock to date. Looks accurate, and the auto transformation is flawless. Additional to that fun voice commands and you got quite the party favor to show off if you can afford it. It's crazy to me theirs a market for this when average folks like me struggle to keep up with most mainline releases.
Yeah, it looks amazing. I think the reason they can get away with this kind of pricing is because original G1 fans are old enough that our kids are now adults and in many cases (at least enough people for these prices to make sense) we have the kind of disposable income one gets in the latter 3rd of their career, boosted further by an empty nest.
I think it's awesome that now as an adult I have more toys to choose from than when I was a kid. Although I can't afford most of what I want, I'm glad us big kids get the koolest stuffs.
Grimlock has always been my favorite Autobot throughout the franchise. I don’t collect masterpiece, but in the case of him and my other favorite, Soundwave, I would definitely make an exception.
Absolutely adore his studio series figure and I have it proudly displayed since I took the time to customize it to give him the red eyes which I prefer.
As far as this figure goes, it’s a strong maybe.

I really respect Robosen for going the extra mile and getting the OG voice actors for these figures. I feel like any other company would opt for a cheaper va.

Grimlock looks cheap in that bright silver color... it should have been more gray like the original. Also some withering would be epic for realism.
If I had this when G1 cartoon came out for the first time, I would've been a god among men...
WOW. Optimus was decently impressive in design but this Grimlock seems phenomenal.
Just wow. Didnt even know this was coming out. Expensive yes, but also impressive as hell.
This is just purely my blind speculation, but I think the reason he can't stand in robot mode once he's off is due to the gyros being turned off when there's no power. Gyros are usually used to balance things. In dino mode, the tail can act as another leg, so it's easier to support in that position without the gyros.
It cant stand due to the heaviness of the parts and because the servos are looser on Grimlock than on the Rotb prime and Bumblebee
@@BigJickle Yeah, I forgot about the servos needed to keep it standing. The servos aren't going to work without power.

honestly his auto-transformation surprised me of how those servos can transform him, whilst being able to stand!

It says something about these robots when the RUclipsr reviewers I trust all get a different RoboSen TransFormer character sent to them, and they all say that, yeah, it's cool, but the price is insane.

I thought the voice actor was Gregg Berger. Idk if it’s a voice modulation thing that they did for the 84 cartoon or if it’s just age, but he’s always sounded notably different when he’s portrayed Grimlock in everything since (PoTP, Devastation, FoC, etc)
Idk Devastation sounded fine to me maybe I’m miss remembering

A lot of the old masterpiece figures probably still hold up in terms of engineering and durability, i’m still trying to get me a damn MP 10.
That;s insane, in just so many ways. Though, if one just wants a big Grimlock, one that can actually pose and stuff in robot mode, you can find upscaled MP Grimlocks for around ~150 dollars, I'm loving my one.
Wheeljack and Ratchet did an excellent job when creating the dinobots.

When I first saw the reveals for this, I nearly cried. It was cool that Robosen started this line of autoconverting Transformers, but I never liked the optimus prime all that much so I didn't have much interest in buying him. Grimlock however, looks glorious! And all I can say is, so much for my college savings...
JK! This is still too expensive for me to buy. But maybe if down the road, I have the money for this I might buy it (that is if they're still making this product several years from now)

Dude! That's fucking amazing! We have Transformers that transform now! I would have died for these as a kid, so to save my inner child I'll have to drop the cash on these. At the expense of my adult self, of course. This thing costs, like, four and half days' pay.
For the price, I would rather track down the SS86 figure or a MP scale version.
I don't get the hype for Robosen products, sure they transform automatically but you can't do anything fun with them since they can't be handled. That's the whole point of Transformers, theyre meant to be puzzles but Robosen went and did this instead.
Sure it's kinda impressive but I'm confident it could've been made way sooner.
Engineering 101, the more moving parts, the quicker it is to break. It's an expensive shelf warmer, but hey, at least the company sells a warranty program for it :v

Looks like a 1 to 1 of the masterpiece mold. (That’s a good thing)
The chest doesn't move (I think) and the legs transform differently, but otherwise the overall mould itself is the exact same. Though, Grimlock's transformation hasn't really changed that much since G1 at all, and he's basically perfected at this point.
so heres a thought...
Imagine an unnamed 3rd partys somehow make an automatic transforming AOE/TLK Knight Optimus....

These Robosen figures are amazing, but I guess it remains to be seen how long they can hold up with those servos/motors.
Like all things if it isn't abused and taken care of it should be fine. No issues with my Prime so far.
I have the robosen flagship optimus. I love it, but this grimlock is miles better. Not sure if I can afford another crazy purchase though.

Nope, that sounds like Greg Berger. He voiced Ripto again in the Spyro reignited trilogy and, judging by this video, that sounds like him! Yea, it doesn't sound like Grimlock that much but it has been almost 40 years since he first played our big shiny dino boi.

To me the computer controlled transformations and animations are neat gimmicks that would lose their novelty quickly, leaving me with a $1500 shelfwarmer (if I could afford it*). I'd much rather buy a MP Grimlock, KO MP Grimlock, Giga Power Grimlock, or FT Grimlock for 1/4 the price or less**.
*OK, I technically could afford it if I bought next to no toys for a year.
** I do own both the MP Grimlock (TRU version) and GigaPower Superator/Grimlock. I recommend both.
I'd buy it, that's what credit is for. When I finish remodeling my house, he and prime will find a place in my office.
