Interesting, I didn't know this kind of service existed. I find that local newspaper sites are the worst for gathering details that they're not entitled to (look at the amount of cookies). Journalists are the most unethical people and this shows at every level of their organisations.
Be careful, dust with mice excrements can be very dangerous, when breathed in. Please wear a mask. Great idea with the ceiling. I love your pure functional design in a feng shui manner and your super way to create interior. ❤️
I agree, it looks very cosy now. BUT the gap you're planning on closing at 22.49 is important for the ventilation to avoid mould and so on. Close it with metal mesh against mice but let the air flow. A gap between the outer roof and the new insulation would probably be good even if it steals some of the space. Good luck with the work 😊
Watching Rosie embrace her hearts desires is so fulfilling. Yes, the ceiling project adds more time. But if it feels like the right thing to do ... do it!! I think it's going to be so cute.
I'm so happy you are fixing up the guest house. I think it will look just wonderful when you finish it. Nice little place for your guests to enjoy when they come to visit!
I got worried when I saw you handling the mouse poop without a mask as it made me think of the Hantavirus. Was glad you had one on for a bit at least and hope you'll be ok. Thanks so much for taking us with you. Your videos are a treat to watch and exciting and relaxing at the same time :).
If it was mine I'd remove the middle wall to have one larger room instead of 2 tiny ones. I'd also put a tiny woodstove in for heat & heating a kettle etc. A single bed would double as a sofa & it would be so cosy.
Wow!!! What a HUGE difference taking out the ceiling has made!!! I can’t wait to see it when you’ll all finished and moved in!! Can’t wait for next Sunday’s video!!! 🙌🏾😊
Ooh I'm so excited for how this is gonna turn out! I just know it's gonna be beautiful because you have such an eye for aesthetic and know how to make things both cozy and elegant, it'll be so nice ❤️
I love that no problems you encounter are too big for you to sort out. You are an inspiration and it is fascinating to see how you work and what you achieve.
You always want to use an N95 mask or higher while cleaning or dealing with anything related to mice or rat droppings. Our dear friend became deathly ill for over three months after cleaning up mice poop with just a bandana and gloves on. Its called Hava virus I believe (or something like that) and its super super dangerous! Also the best way to prevent mice getting is is actually thoroughly inspecting the exterior of the house for any hole the size of a quarter or bigger and fixing it. Very tedious, especially when dealing with a large home, but with both this guest house and your house it shouldn't take too long and its worth its weight in gold to prevent mice getting into your walls and wrecking wiring, insulation etc.
I thought, I wonder if Rosie's parents rush to see her latest video the way I do. I think your parents will love this reno of the guest cottage and look forward to their next visit. You have wonderful ideas. I also like the idea of taking the middle wall down as others have suggested and I love your idea of taking down the ceiling. Thank you for your wonderful videos. I love them!
I love the space in the guesthouse ceiling. I'm a firm believer in doing things right and as well as possible the first time around so time and money do not need to be spent on the same space again later. Once this is done I'm sure you will be so happy. You should be incredibly proud of yourself. I've been where you are, I know what a challenge it is, and how much hard work.
Well done Rosie and good luck with the guest house renovation. Mice can get in to any space that their heads can fit through. You may want to use steel wool to stuff in areas that your boards don't.😀
Hi Rosie! I'm sure you've already thought of this... why not take out that interior wall? It would make it so much brighter and bigger in there? I have to admit, I had anxiety, haha, when you said you were taking the ceiling down. But I guess this now becomes the first reno, and once done, it's done and guests can have a wonderful stay in there by summer!
Im going to see what I can do about the interior wall but I want to keep it simple (the same way I was just going to paint it haha)… I might get a little creative with that wall if it doesn’t turn into a crazy job!
Looking forward to see what you’ll do with the space! Just remember to wear a mask when you work with getting tid of the mouse poo, you don’t want to get ill (we call it mouse pest i Norway, don’t know the english word).
I am so glad that you are reusing the old, unspoilt ceiling panels and that you mentioned new insulation. I can't imagine living in a cold climate without roof insulation. You are doing such a wonderful job. I totally understand your reasoning that, if you're going to freshen up the guest house, you had better do it right and resolve all the issues that have been bothering you.
Who cares which project you do first?! You are doing what you love and want! Keep rocking. It's lovely seeing small progress and determination over time.
Whenever I see you renovating it gets me motivated to want to rip all my walls down…sadly I rent 😂 so I must wait. Your guesthouse is going to look so spacious with this roof idea!! Can’t wait for the next video 🫶🏽
I would take down the wall that is between the two rooms. Give yourself one larger room. It will feel so much larger for you. Then you can do the entire ceiling for additional height thru the whole space. A bit more work but I think it would be worth the effort. You might regret it later if you leave that wall and the rest of the ceiling. possible more mice in the rest of that ceiling you have not removed yet. I think it all has to go including the wall between the two spaces.
Rosie: I'm struggling with going back to work on renovations, you know Also Rosie: I need to do this job in guest house, it's going to be a quick one 😂 I wish I could do all those things you do!
Oh my dear Rosie, wish you were wearing a mask when taking that ceiling down at the beginning especially when finding mouse poo and such along with the insulation. Need to protect your lungs. Lovely, sturdy interior beams. It’s a nice guest house, but excited to see what you do to improve the space Was great seeing you today . ❤❤
Your engineering mind is amazing Rosie You have an exceptional talent ✨✨✨ Thank you so much for sharing it and for making one feel that it is possible That dreams do come true 😊💫
Rosie, you are doing an amazing job, that little cottage will be so adorable when it's done. Opening up the ceiling like that will give you the feeling of spaciousness and more light. It will make a huge difference in the end. Using the old tongue in groove is also a great idea. I enjoy your videos. You are a breath of fresh air.
Are you planning to get rid of the dividing wall in the guesthouse and to make one 'big' space of it? It might make it feel even more spacious (me think).
On the one hand, removing the wall would make it feel more open and allow more light into that back room. On the other hand, there is something to be said for having a sleeping space that is separate from your office/working space. I could see either option working, honestly.
Not to mention the pathogens in rat and bat poo. I have to ffw half of this episode whenever i rewatch it, as her working with all that without a mask is sooo not relaxing! 😂 Still, a year on, she's not had any ill effects as far as we are aware, so yeay for luck!
I have to be honest, if I was going to move into this room I would have moved in a heater and left it as is. Then I would have a place to sleep when I worked on the house. You are very ambitious, and I know your plan will be much more functional. You go girl!
I respect the fact that you're not one to do things the easy way; if you are going to stay in accommodations even temporarily, they have to be aesthetically pleasing!
With all that mice activity I would spray everything with bleach water before continuing. And most importantly not use the old insulation. It is already contaminated.
Just a suggestion, reinforce and remove the central wall, go open plan, one big room. It will be warmer in winter and more air movement in summer. It would feel like a far bigger area, not as closed in.
Oh, exposing those beams was definitely a good plan. They are so pretty and open the space. But of course you have made your life harder. You are a renovater, that's your job 😁 I can picture a small railed shelf around the perimeter of the ceiling for books. I am looking forward to the next installment so much ❤
you're crazy! You had such comfy, well insulated room, where you could have temporarily moved in within a day, while you could have continued the renovation in the main house! But I have no doubt, you will make it really cute and nice! And in the end, it doesn't matter! lots of power to you!
This would be the perfect size for a little sauna/washroom, I'm shocked there isn't a sauna on the property, in Finland that's almost a crime. A sauna would have so much use and benefits, while a guesthouse does not
Hi Rosie! I follow you for a while now, and I have a few comments that I’ve been wanting to make for a few weeks. And about the renovations, I’m so happy you finally got to the guesthouse, it’s so cute and it’s been screaming for some attention since you got your property. I’m mid vídeo now, but I bet it’s gonna look so cozy and useful at the end. I remember when your mom went to spend some time with you, and you never showed her again or say anything about her leaving. I wondered if she’s ok or still with you behind the scenes. We’ll that’s it, I can’t wait till you get more subscribers, patreons or partnerships that can provide more and more money so you can do whatever your heart desires with your lovely home . Sending you lots of love aallll the way from Brazil . I thought Baumgartner had the smoothest sponsor transitions but you really win the prize! I can never tell when a sponsored bit is about to appear in your videos. And I actually watch them all the way through.
I'am conditioning my new home. I have to get in it in March, because that's the time lapse I have before the contract with my landlord expires. Some days, I find it so hard to build up strength to go all the way to my new place and embark in all there has to be done. It's being emotionally very hard for me these days. However, I really want to imprint my dreamt new home with love. I want it to be my cozy nest. So, it's during these difficult days, when I feel like I can't keep any longer with everything by my self, that you, Rosie, help me ragain strength and hope, and the will to continue. Thank you so much for that! I love and enjoy every single video of yours.
It's added height. But made it colder no insulation...so you might need to think of adding something to the roof...and yes one bigger space would been better ...but it's your decision ...still you always carryon ....and determined to get jobs done well done ✅😀
That's what I was thinking too. Even if it would take some work. It should be possible to add a layer of insulation while keeping the higher ceiling. Though you'd need to buy more planks to put over the insulation, and that might be a bit of a challenge to do(since they've have to be set at an angle upwards).
Quite inspiring. I love what you’ve done. I want to suggest if you do more demo, it might be a good idea to wear the face mask as you do when you’re sanding. I hate to think of you breathing in the dust from those scary places with the mice leavings.
VERY COLD...that's WHY there was insulation!!!!🤣....... you will need to insulate the raised ceiling against the cold & the heat IF you want it efficient. IMHO I would open to the roof, insulate it, cover it with wood planks......create a ceiling over the back room again so it then could be an open storage loft shelf from the front room access. That would give you a lower feeling that it has already in the bed space with mini storage above it accessible from the totally open ceiling in the front room. You don't need the headspace in the spacing area because you are laying down.
I thought the little guest house was cute the way it was. The ceiling with insulation would be warmer for the rest of the winter trying to heat it, portable space heater, I'm guessing. If you're only going to be staying in it while you're finishing the main cottage, I would have made do how it was. I would have finished the main cottage, get moved back in then focus on the guest cottage. The guest cottage could of been a summer project when it's warmer out. It's a cute cottage and the vaulted ceiling will make it feel larger, hope you'll figure out a way to insulate it. Please note - I'm also one that hates the cold so anyway to stay warm is important to me!

Always enjoy when Rosie embraces her curiosity and decides to go down the rabbit hole.
Hahaha that's a fun way of putting it!

I was wondering about this too - some insect & mouse proof roof ventilation may be in order
Watching Rosie embrace her hearts desires is so fulfilling. Yes, the ceiling project adds more time. But if it feels like the right thing to do ... do it!! I think it's going to be so cute.
Taking out the ceiling was absolutly the best idea for the guest house. It just makes the space feel sooo much better.
I'm so happy you are fixing up the guest house. I think it will look just wonderful when you finish it. Nice little place for your guests to enjoy when they come to visit!
Doing things the right way is always a little bit harder but you’re better off in the long run. You always do great job❤.
There is no right way when it comes to decisions like these. The guest house was right just the way it was. Completely unnecessary renovation.
It's a real pleasure to see that you have good tools these days. Everything is so much easier and also more fun.
I love that wallpaper actually. It's very pretty and calming. Perfect for a bedroom.
They have contact paper like that at the dollar store in Stuart, FL
I love the wallpaper too
I got worried when I saw you handling the mouse poop without a mask as it made me think of the Hantavirus. Was glad you had one on for a bit at least and hope you'll be ok. Thanks so much for taking us with you. Your videos are a treat to watch and exciting and relaxing at the same time :).
Girl I can’t wait to see what you do with this space
Opening up ceiling is going to make it appear larger
Awesomeness
But isolation is gone...
@@chloeuntrau4588 Why does everybody think it's finished? LOL. I'm putting in a new pitched ceiling with insulation

You are right. I think that is the best use of space and it will look more spacious and cozy
This sounds like such a lovely idea!
There is no chimney , so you have to use electrical heating .
Without ceiling insulation , it's better to keep the wall in at this moment .
I wish you were wearing a mask…..
@@petrahartog5934 wood burning stoves come with their own chimney pipe: you cut a round hole in the wall or roof to feed the pipe through.
I didn't want this to end! It was so comforting to take a break from reality with Rosie's exciting new adventure.
Yes!
Dear Rosie, wear a mask when taking down ceiling insulation!
Wow!!! What a HUGE difference taking out the ceiling has made!!! I can’t wait to see it when you’ll all finished and moved in!! Can’t wait for next Sunday’s video!!! 🙌🏾😊
When you close off the air vents at gable ends you will need a ridge roof vent so you don’t have condensation problems between roof and insulation.
I agree, this is really important.
Im adding air gaps back in! 😊
Rosie, i love what you are doing. I am always disappointed when the video ends. Thank you for sharing with us
Just what I needed. Another dose of Rosie..... Yeees!
Ooh I'm so excited for how this is gonna turn out! I just know it's gonna be beautiful because you have such an eye for aesthetic and know how to make things both cozy and elegant, it'll be so nice ❤️
I was hollering Rosie get a mask on. And then you finally heard me.
yes, she really needed a mask

Such a cute space! Great idea to remove the ceiling.
Looking forward to seeing what this 'quick makeover' brings:)
Good morning, Rosie! I love your vision for the guest house! I’m looking forward to seeing the progress❤️
Are you planning to get rid of the dividing wall in the guesthouse and to make one 'big' space of it? It might make it feel even more spacious (me think).
Yes, I agree. It would open the space up even more. It was a good idea to take the ceiling out tho - a great studio/work or even Airbnb space, Rosie.
On the one hand, removing the wall would make it feel more open and allow more light into that back room. On the other hand, there is something to be said for having a sleeping space that is separate from your office/working space. I could see either option working, honestly.
I love you. Like a dear sister. Please wear a mask when you’re pulling down insulation. That old stuff is toxic.
Not to mention the pathogens in rat and bat poo. I have to ffw half of this episode whenever i rewatch it, as her working with all that without a mask is sooo not relaxing! 😂
Still, a year on, she's not had any ill effects as far as we are aware, so yeay for luck!
I always watch you on Sundays while I eat dinner :) thanks for making videos!
The wall paper is beautiful. I do hope that you plan on keeping it.
i think closing the gaps on the ceilings that way is clever, you can use it as storage!!
I love how comfortable you are getting with all the power tools. Well done! I can’t wait to see the end result.
I love your vision, and it really does make a difference when the risk equals the reward… I love the open ceiling
Love the look of the exposed guest house ceiling, lovely find!
Taking out the wall or at least the middle will make the space feel better. I love what you did with the ceiling!!!
Oh, exposing those beams was definitely a good plan. They are so pretty and open the space. But of course you have made your life harder. You are a renovater, that's your job 😁 I can picture a small railed shelf around the perimeter of the ceiling for books. I am looking forward to the next installment so much ❤
Tiny guest house looks so much nicer with the open ceiling. It will look so cosy when completed. ❤
You may be spending more time and money on the guest house than you had planned but in the end it will be well spent. 😊

Nice work. Sounds like You have adjusted up the sound in the videos too. I like that. 😁

It’s going to be great! 🎉🎉
Spring is coming! Slowly, but surely!
Exciting!!! Can’t wait to see what’s next… 🥰🥰🥰
Take off the moss on the roof, it only holds the water, it is best to remove it first so you don't get water damage.
So happy for a new Rosie adventure video! 🎉
Looks like an interesting new project. Can't wait...
Oh that space is going to be so cool! Can’t wait to watch the progress!

That little guest house is adorable!!!!
Love the cottage project....
The little guest house is so cute! You are a wonderwoman! Fearless with renovations.
Rosie I so enjoy watching the renovating of you Swedish home. It all turns out so beautiful. 🙂
I think it is cute and looks cheerful.
Any job worth doing, is a job well done. I love that about your process. Your insight is inspiring.♥️
Haha. I should wait to the end of the episode before commenting. You DID go for option 3 and did the guest house next.😉
Great video

It was the right move to open it up! I think it will look just great when it is finished.
