Right, you could tell David was a good person. We will see how baddass they are once they enter a maxim security prison with other scum like themselves.
No you wouldn't. The length of prison sentences does little to deter crime. Crime might even go up instead. If I know I'll go to prison for the rest of my life anyway, why should I care about what else I do? The prospect of getting caught more effectively deters crime. Not the length of the prison sentence. Most criminals assume they will get away with it.
@@jcsjcs2 how many cases we have here where the suspect turns to be fresh out of prison, or a previous criminal that had a comically low sentence and walked out to start again.
@@TheSfelex, That isn't deterring crimes, that is preventing further crimes and is based purely on speculation of what the convicted criminal might do after they are released. You can't just say if we increase their sentences it will deter crime and then say that it is really about keeping recidivists in prison. First off, statistical data on crime prevention has found through multiple studies that increased sentencing standards do not have a correlation with the reduction of crimes. That makes sense logically, because what criminal asks themselves "what is the ramifications of my actions today, what is the standard sentencing for voluntary manslaughter"? It doesn't happen, criminals aren't asking themselves that question, they don't care because they believe they won't be caught in the first place. What has been found to have a correlating effect on reducing criminal behavior is the risk of being caught by law enforcement. Crime tends to decrease with greater enforcement against said types of crime. Second, your argument that keeping them in prison reduces crime isn't really correct either. There are a few problems with that assessment: majority of crimes are committed by young males, the vast majority of problematic young males that are not in prison far outnumber the ones in prison, and it would be far too expensive to house every one of them in prison. disregarding the draconian impression it has to put away every single young male that has ever committed a single crime into prison for decades just because it would "prevent" crime. Long-term recidivism rates for all crimes in the US are relatively low, so the overall impact of ubiquitously keeping all these criminals, many of whom won't go on to commit another crime, in prison for an extended period of time just because maybe 10% will continue committing crimes would be overwhelmingly negative. Even if you do extend prison sentencing, of which the US already has some of the highest criminal sentencing standards in the western world yet also some of the highest crime rates in the western world, they have to be released at some point. I can assure you that the US prison system is not for rehabilitation, it is for punishment. The longer you are in prison the higher the probability of you becoming institutionalized, and once you are out, you have to start from the beginning; you won't have any valid ID, you will be in your 40s+, you will probably not have many family/friend connections, any education you might have had besides your GED/high school diploma will be worthless after 10 years, and you will have some kind of felony making it even harder for you to even get an interview much less a job.
Good gravy. Just miles from me. Disgusting - and I’m afraid I’ll see this one day in a family member near there. Ugh. God give me not just His amazing grace but wisdom too.
If you created a town of 8 people you may have 1 nut case among them. And even if there is no nutcase, crimes of passion is a thing where people kill out of anger in a moment. But sticking with the legit evil or psychotic folks for a moment, those 8 people will create more people who create more people who can do these things, and the more people the more opportunity there is for this to happen. WHY? More mentally ill people, more social influence, and the like. Before TV and Social media, murderers and psycho's existed, so it's not just the influence doing it, BUT today, these things make it worst. Parents ignore the signs, parents are less involved, they throw their kids in Public school 8 hrs a day and use school as a Daycare or Proxy Baby Sitter, kids and society are a little more violent, we consume things we should not and think it has no impact on us, kids are more immature and susceptible to things like this, all of this contributes to this, even in a small town. Take the flaws of mankind and ramp it up to 100 with lack of guidance. Whether we admit it or not, culture and beliefs in ones home is important. not just for personal growth, but for community and wholesome society. People honestly think we can just have this attitude of "let people do whatever so long as they don't hurt others" attitude and that's going to fly, it doesn't and it never has. Some ideas, some views, some lifestyles are detrimental to to society.
I live in Palmer. I remember seeing the missing posters up everywhere. Every year on the anniversary of his death his mom posts daily describing the night he went missing up until they found his body. It’s heartbreaking. I don’t know if his parents are still together but I think they had tried for a long time to have a child. Only for him to be murdered. I can’t even imagine.
On one hand, yes it’s great that they looked after the greater good. On the other hand, that’s a simple interrogation tool to add stress to the suspect. They’re basically working against their kids best interest and then they still hire the kid a lawyer.
Imagine living in Alaska but thinking that you're still a gangster... Edit: apparently there's a lot of people that don't know much about living in Alaska. Majority of the year, it is basically winter, and they may be good one to three hours of daylight, in a day. In the winter it can be as little as 30 minutes of daylight. People can barely travel during the winter, etc. So this would have to be some type of summer gang that only gets together in July or something lol.
Glad you stopped that ridiculous wannabe thug from torturing my ears with his rap nonsense. What these punks did to David is just savage. My heart goes out to his mom, she loves her son so much.
And to think they are so oblivious to how lame they are by just repeating lyrics, poorly, without any skills writing, composing, living the the “life” they “rap” about. His child/boy voice is still with him which makes it even more pathetic!

Real respect for his father. I can't even imagine how it must feel to know that your child did something like this. Often you see parents even try to cover for their children and get rid of evidence for them. This father is a good man and he did the right thing, even if it meant losing his son, probably forever.
@CuriousCarrot-yy9hm You cannot control what's out of your view. You could have a privileged and wholesome upbringing and still end up deciding to do something horrible of your own volition. You can't blame the parents for the children's choices everytime. Sometimes it really is the parents fault. But this doesn't seem like one of those cases. It seems like a decent kid who chose the wrong path. He dad doesn't influence his desires to be "gang gang" or truly have the ability to stop that behavior. He can give all the lectures and discipline he wants but if the kid wants to be a waste of oxygen, he will. If his father was to blame he'd have been the type of parent to conceal and defend his child even knowing he's guilty. Not work towards getting him sent away.
@@Phearsum yes you can, and you dont make and argument based on possibilities. You make it based on probabilities. Of course there is parents fault when the kids turn up like this. Looking at my childhood and my friends and aquaitances there is a lot of common things to the ones that got in trouble and its always rough divorces, agressive parents, not caring parents, ecc. The people i know who had good parents turned out way better than everyone else and that needs no studies or proofs, thats just logic

You can hear the fear and desperation in the voice of the suspects father.. fear of what his son's gotten himself into and desperation to try mitigate the number of years he'll have to speak to his son from the other side of a glass window.. and who can blame a loving father to try and save his son. This is a tragedy on every level.
Unfortunately the best way to do that would have been to tell his son to stop speaking and contacting a lawyer. I understand that in regular social interactions telling the truth and coming clean is the admirable and correct thing to do. That all changes when you add police into the equation, regardless of guilt you should always stay silent and get a lawyer. This just ensured his son got convicted, I don't blame the father but that is the truth of it.
Dude my dad dropped me like a bad habit during a DUI conviction LOL I can definitely blame a dad for trying to save a murderer or a rapist. That's my standards, not God's. Hell is eternity so I can understand God trying to save everyone and anyone. But on earth its your duty to fuck your kids shit up if he is a dangerous like this.

Holy hell. Wow. Thank you for covering this interrogation. I attended middle school with Erick. Although I never knew him past then and into high school, he was absolutely not a friendly person to know unless you were in his friend group. Would constantly taunt and threaten people, and I found myself bullied by him quite a few times for no apparent reason other than the fact that I wasn't a friend of his. I still vividly remember him and his friend group (at the time) sitting behind me in math during the 6th grade and him throwing slurs and names at me. I quite seriously did nothing but exist. But since I had existed right in front of him in front of his eyes, he felt it was justified. We shared multiple classes together throughout 6th-8th, and he was nasty from the start and never seemed to get any better. He never showed any remorse for the pain he caused other people. Erick found it fun. Getting reactions from people for the horrid things he did is what he craved. I don't think I ever personally witnessed kindness from him towards another person, even towards his personal friend group or the teachers. We were 11-12 when we met. The fact that he got so much worse in only roughly 5 years is still insane to think of. I also knew David Grunwald, so you can imagine my shock when my mother told me the update she saw that stated David had been killed and Erick had been arrested. The story of what happened to David still haunts me to this day. It really impacted me in a way I never thought any local crime would. It got way too personal and hit way too close to home. Me and David were the same age. 16 years old. It's forever haunting. Just felt like I needed to share more about Erick based on what I experienced with him first hand.

Many JCS inspired channels...... But this channel is the only channel that puts out videos of the same quality standard as JCS.. The difference is that Stayawake puts out numerous vids, not just 1 every 6 months Soon we'll be seeing "Stayawake-inspired" channels
When JCS got jacked by YT it was so awful. JCS did upload recently though. IDK what's going on with that? There were way too many JCS "inspired" channels that came rushing out afterwards. Some were tributes and others tried to use JCS hard work & name as a springboard. Most were not worthy... This channel is solid. I've been a fan for awhile now. It is the most comparable. Stay Awake does a fantastic job..
Honestly tho, and what i love the most about this channel is that is clear and consice, nicely wrap up everything in 20-30min videos while other channels inspired in JCS just put 3 hours of interrogation tapes, like they are allergic to editing or something.
I find Matt Orchandt is the best JCS inspired channel. He always tells the stories in his very special way. You should check him out, he is well underrated.
"Hello, camera and microphone store? I work for a police department, and I need a camera and microphone to record very important information, like people confessing to murders and such. Can you please recommend your shittiest models? Thanks!" -- Whoever buys the equipment for every police interrogation room ever 🤣🤣
I think they are required to roll the cameras throughout the entire time the suspect is sitting there, however since a common tactic is to just leave the suspect sitting there in anticipation, this makes for very long videos. My guess is they would either have to make SERIOUS storage investments (building a server to store all of this data onsite), cut parts of the video out, or reduce the resolution and audio quality. Since they most likely didn't have the budget to build a datacenter and weren't willing to simply get rid of the information because it could be vital, they chose to reduce the resolution and audio quality (at least that would be my best guess because the same thing is true with most businesses)
@@bruhstandlerdefinitely sounds logical, actually thanks for sharing a truly great thought & giving an informative answer lol; there isn‘t many people like you left in this world that just give a thoughtful answer instead of commenting stupid stuff. what youre saying sounds so logical that i dont think it must be right - BUT tbh i think if theres places where states/counties/countries should invest more regarding police work this definitely is one. sure, im not that knowledgeable about data storage but were living in 2024 and i‘d assume its possible to store large amounts of data cheaper & cheaper by the day. cloud storage, and so on just as an idea. & these videos are important - theyre imminent for legal matters, you can use them for „scientific“ or learning purposes (as seen here) and generally its always good to be transparent & give the public a chance to see how the police conduct their work. having videos as this in good quality would make all of those uses way easier & better, i think it‘d anything but badly invested money.

There are a few problems with that assessment:
majority of crimes are committed by young males, the vast majority of problematic young males that are not in prison far outnumber the ones in prison, and it would be far too expensive to house every one of them in prison. disregarding the draconian impression it has to put away every single young male that has ever committed a single crime into prison for decades just because it would "prevent" crime.

Crazy to think how in a small town as a teenager you can find four other murderous psycopath teenagers to work with you
I'm thinking, how about David, is he the only good kid? Or if they invite David to killl another one, will he be just like them?
most likely due to inbreeding

Real respect for his father. I can't even imagine how it must feel to know that your child did something like this. Often you see parents even try to cover for their children and get rid of evidence for them. This father is a good man and he did the right thing, even if it meant losing his son, probably forever.
You would had turn your child in huh
You can hear the fear and desperation in the voice of the suspects father.. fear of what his son's gotten himself into and desperation to try mitigate the number of years he'll have to speak to his son from the other side of a glass window.. and who can blame a loving father to try and save his son.
This is a tragedy on every level.
Nobody can.

Eric had some great parents. Utmost respect for their honesty and integrity.
well they raised an obnoxious little wigger, so obviously not that great.
Holy hell.
