I feel violated by that intro. To paraphrase the Simpsons...me: "How do you sleep at night?" Jeremy: "On a pile of money surrounded by many beautiful women."
I bought the Armani Pour Homme back in the days when it was released, it knocked my socks off, pure Italian elegance and class. I still wear it today and every time I use it, it brings a smile on my face. It is one of those frags thats timeless. It can be dressed up or down, it always deliver. I love it :-)
I own 3 of the 5, missing out on YSL and Givenchy. I'm happy to rely on your taste for any new fragrances as you seem to be my most suited reviewer. BDP, Chanel PM, Guerlain Heritage and as an everyday work scent, Lalique pour homme are some of my favourites.👍
Great review, as usual-I smelled the Chanel decades ago and can still remember that unique citrus opening. Thanks for referencing it. The Armani is sublimely Italian-so elegant.👍
Your list...solid...your reaction intro...stunning. LOL!!! I was going to say if you like the Chanel Pour Monsieur then try Monsieur de Givenchy, but you got that one too. Cheers!
This is by far the best video featuring MrSmelly's facial expressions. I could not stop laughing watching MrSmelly's reactions to Jeremy's clips. Definitely hilarious.
Spot on with all five picks ( and the honourable mention)! In my opinion, too, these are THE quintessential classic gentleman’s fragrances - together with another half dozen, or so. I do respect Habit Rouge, but personally find it utterly unwearable. I much favour J-P Guerlain’s 1959 debut release, the great Vetiver.
Armani eau pour homme my first proper fragrance when I was 16. 1st Insignia for men (I was 15 ads were catchy) 2 Armani eau pour homme 3 Joop (hated it after about 3 weeks and gave it away) 4 CK one (everybody wore this) 5 Ralph Lauren polo sport ( loved it and wore it clubbing between 17-20 years of age, smells completely different now)
I agree 100% with your choices: top list. And since i am your fan, please be the one to make loewe 7 the next gentlemen super fragance: its an amazing perfume.
You got me into all these ...Once I knew YSLPH was on the movie American Pyscho I had to check it out and it rocked my socks ....Pour Monsieur grew on me but when it did I found something to associate it with : California lemon trees... Never got into the Givenchys Monsieur or their Xeryus for that matter and the Habit Rouge reminds me of Three flowers pomade... Eau Pour Homme Armani is another beauty and I like my 2 bottles of Eau Sauvage Extreme over the original sitting next to them...
Excellent video Dan. I have Armani eau pour homme. If you haven't tried it yet, try Quercia from Acqua di Parma (brown bottle). Fits very well in this category.
Huh didn't watch that Jeremy vid; gotta admire his (and intro-creator's) bravery; the below-referenced penguin is, indeed, extremely unusual. I know my fragrance "journey" was changed by sampling 3 of the mentioned scents; now treasure my Eau Sauvage, Habit Rouge. Will be bordering the Armani (vintage & modern) soon. Each was love at first sampled sniff; agree with Sir Smelly that modern scents lack complexity, realistic notes, and masculine character by comparison. Recently sampling YSL Y edp, D&G Light Blue Intense (both nice quality but def not 4 me) only makes me wish I'd sampled the rest of those mentioned sooner. Cheers.
Dior Eau Sauvage, Dunhill Icon, Dior Homme Intense, Dior Homme Parfum and Hugo Boss Bottled Intense EDP, probably one of the best gentleman fragrances of all time.✌
Chanel Pour Monsieur - 10/10. I prefer this over Eau Sauvage. I find CPM has better longevity & projection vs DES. Only started wearing CPM this year. Extend longevity and improve projection by spraying on clothes. Very good fragrance for my work in healthcare. Scents that stay closer to the skin are more appropriate in this setting, in my opinion. This fragrance smells fresh and clean, with an interesting but subtle character after the first hour or so; very gentlemanly. Great choice! Regarding DES. Improve its longevity and projection by using the afters-have balm as a moisturizer and use the deodorant too. And spray on clothes.
I love chanel pour monsieur but a pity sue longevity is not at the top, I like to spray it on summer mornings on me with eau pour homme in a fitting version of early 90s of course, I went to Essenza ADP I find it more modern and fresher and hold all day without. problem
Great review👍keep doing...and try "Versace l'homme" from 86 I think -it's one of the best perfume ever!and it's from the same class more less ,like this from your review
Dan, that intro 😂 Jeremy doesn't know what's waiting for him in 20 years when he has too look back at his video. 😂 OK a better note.. Armani Eau pour homme is my most special fragrance. I have two bottles if it. One fragrance that should be included in your list is what I'm wearing tonight. Vintage Givenchy Gentleman.. Tons of hair on growing on your chest on this one! Civet, honey and Patchouli 💪💜
The only fragrance in your selection here I have is Guerlain HR, I like it very much - subtle, traditional, quietly complex and masculine, what's not to like 😏
Eau pour homme was Armani's debut men's fragrance and I wore it as a teenager in the late 80's along with Dior sauvage. Still weer both today as my back to the future fragrances ie fragrances from the past which are still current.
I only hope that no penguin have been injured shooting Jeremiah's video on the pool of decadence. New subcriber here, keep it up with your great content
E Marinella 100, italian class all the way, that one plus Trophee Lancome from the 80s, and Photo Lagerfeld, and YSL Pour Homme Concentree vintage versions
Looks like someone's been watching Gregg's channel eh. :P Btw, was that the original penguin everyone's been talking about? Could've sworn it was a different colour... Anyway, the modern Monsieur de Givenchy kicks butt. Ditto with Vetyver. Might as well add Milano Cento too. Gentlemanly up the wazoo. That would be the bum.
Hello. I did plan this list before watching Greg's latest video. We did mention 2 or 3 the same and his video has some less obvious choice that I really would like to own too!
great review, coincidentally some of your choices very similar to(Greggieboy76 on Great old school fragrances/colognes part one), great choices I have got a couple of them. funny into though Lolll.
Amazing intro :D Plus during the main theme that "claping" to the rythm sounded more like "faping" to the rythm LOL. BTW I like to wear these types of colognes - mainly at home just for personal pleasure.
Very disappointed in Monsieur de Givenchy. I love the smell but it lasts only about 1 hour on my skin!! at £66 currently on Notino, my worst ever buy. I love Givenchy in general but this was sadly, very disappointing.
@@MrSmelly1977 Literally, I kid you not, I sprayed loads on my t-shirt today and an hour later, no evidence of any smell whatsoever !! Never experienced anything so pathetic !!

Thanks Mehdi!
I would add Guerlain Vetiver and Chanel Antaeus.
I feel violated by that intro. To paraphrase the Simpsons...me: "How do you sleep at night?" Jeremy: "On a pile of money surrounded by many beautiful women."
Thanks for watching!!!
Mr Smelly you're a legend, cracking up at the opening, bought to mind all those classic carry on films with those reaction shots hahaha.
Thanks Espresso!
Your reactions to his speedo clips were hilarious!!! Had me bursting in laughter every time you looked at the camera 😂 🤣 🤣 💀
Thanks a lot I’m really glad it made people laugh.
That JF vid is so weird😂. He is on a pink flamingo, plus I didn’t know he was gay. You learn something new every day

Thank you Roman.

Top notch...one of your best!
Good selection and good video, beautiful Classics fragances, thanks.
If you add Dior Homme 2011 this is exactly my current collection and could hardly live without...this Mr Smelly has great taste!!😆✌

Oh no way!! lol that intro was funny as 😂 Love your videos, Great fragrance reviews and funny intros, dosnt get any better than this.
Thanks very much Christopher.
Have only tried the Armani - which I loved.
Rochas Moustache Original 1949 also could be mentioned in this category of fragrances.
Really good reviews and excellent picks Mr Dan.
Hello from Brazil, I joined to your team today, nice review. Best regards.

Great video! 🎉
Hello Dan, I have to say we are miles apart on our taste in Frags but I always enjoy learning about stuff like this. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Thanks very much. I love your channel.
@@MrSmelly1977 thanks for the kind word my friend.
I'm not a fan of "habit rouge"...however, "Armani eau homme" - I wear on the regular and is very old-school classy in my opinion.! great video man
JF: That intro = Maximum Domination 😅
Thanks Hunter!
I’m thinking Jeremy might be Hercules’ long lost brother, Ridicules...
Great list and I enjoyed it and I'm going to try these fragrances and have a blessed day

I'm trying to decide between Lalique pour homme edp and Boucheron Pour Homme edt. which do you think is better?
These are all fantastic fragrances. I think if I needed one designer forever, Eau Sauvage would be it

+1 for Habit Rouge EDT & Eau Pour Homme. Another one in the same vein would be Guerlain Vetiver EDT.
Great review!
Thanks very much.
Excellent list. These classics are historical. Habit Rouge is one of my favs. 🐧 Thanks for sharing your list sir. Cheers
Thanks very much Nikhil! I loved your latest video too.
Hi! How do you think about. Aramis? Back in the 80ies it was very Popular. When i try it now it smells like old man.
That intro was brilliant 😀
Thank you!
I watch old Mr Smelly videos knowing I can count on hilarious intros 😂
I really love the Armani eau pour homme after it has been sitting an hour on my skin. Masculine perfume
The Armani was one of my firsts back in around 86 .
Beautiful bottles too.
can we get a top ten or five aftershave list!!
I would like to do that but I don't have enough experience yet with afrershaves. I guess I could still do the Top 5 in my collection.
Please don't do a Jeremy! That was ... disturbing, strange & bizarrre.
What a clown.... Watching Jeremy in general makes me angry
The only fragrance in your selection here I have is Guerlain HR, I like it very much - subtle, traditional, quietly complex and masculine, what's not to like 😏
@@paulop30 Have you considered therapy, or, perhaps not watching? 😉 Haha
@@Lawful_Rebel I'll consider both options... But again I was watching MrSmelly... Didn't expect some guy riding a pink flamingo

Habit Rouge, quite curious about how it compares to Heritage.
They're both 'must have'!
Hilarious intro Smelly 🤣

ARMANI eau pour homme (1984-2023). Taken from us far too soon. REQUIESCAT IN PACE.
