ConnorEatsPants aka ConnorEatsPants LIVE aka ConnorEatsPants Daily delivers an exciting Tier List ranking video based on the Japanese franchise Pokemon. Maybe I should write it like Pokémon but that is besides the point! Connor ranks every single Pokemon movie, ranging from classics such as "Pokémon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back", "Pokémon: The Movie 2000 - The Power of One", and "Pokémon Heroes: Latios and Latias" to new ones such as "I Choose You!" and the Netflix movie "Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution". Connor has grown up with this Nintendo franchise since his childhood and it holds a special place in his heart. Some of his favorite Pocket Monsters are Pikachu, Pichu, Squirtle, Charizard, and Rydon. This video is taken from a twitch livestream highlight.

I took my second covid shot the day before this stream. I started feeling bad but not terrible until Ludwig raided Connor and did this segment. I immediately slipped into a 104 degree fever and was not strong enough to turn off the stream. Thus I was stuck tortured by pokemon movies in the middle of fever hallucinations. Xqcl

The scene in Pokemon 4ever where Ash is trying to feed the dead celebi the berries in denial was fucking traumatic as a kid.

Out of all of them Lucario and the mystery of mew is my favorite, it's just such a personal story for both Ash and Pikachu but also Lucario and Aaron. The pacing is pretty tight and the story is just an emotional charachter journey. There's a few minor things they could've fixed but nothing that breaks the movie.
When the Pokémon Black and White movies came out on Netflix, I had a lot of time on my hands. I watched it and they had a gimmick where there was two versions of the movie and they were slightly different. I then watch both versions back to back. I didn’t even really like the movie.

The first Pokemon movie is amazing. It's a perfect movie that anyone can watch no matter how much knowledge they have about Pokemon. When I was a child my Uncle took me to see the movie when it came out in the USA. He told me the animated short at the beginning was " the gayest thing he had ever seen in his life." However he told me the actual movie was a great, and he was very surprised at how good it was.
A Deus ex machina and a time reset which makes the movie pointless in quick succesion, enough said
@@thewindthatblows who cares it wasn't directed by James Cameron. It's a kids movie and they didn't want it messing up the canon of the show. If Ash remembers dying it'd probably mess his 10 year old ass up.
@@jamesllyod944 But for example, Pokemon Movie 3 also wasn't directed by a renowned director (James Cameron isn't that good a director anyway) yet it shows that the same writer learnt from his previous works.
The thing is that The First Movie made Ash's convenient revival a point of manipulating emotions in the vital climax of the movie (Charizard's comeback in the third film is also convenient though with proper foreshadowing in the movie itself, but it happens just in the nick of an action set piece and is not the point of the film's climax). Ash being traumatized in the series without the time reset isn't a good excuse to ignore the problem of the film as a standalone piece, and moreover, it means its message is hypocritical because it means no caracther learnt anything from watching the creatures fighting to an extreme, and also the viewer can't accept the message because back to the rest of the movies and TV Show they will still keep fighting. Pokemon Movie 3's message instead plays to the franchise strenghts (learning to be independent from your fathers protecting you from the world outside and attempting to tackle it)
I mean, the 1st movie isn't inferior to the 3rd one despite what the writer has learned. He was rather more restrained with the 3rd one. One could even argue the 1st to be better, it explores more philosophical questions and still conveys messages that are more important, even after the end no matter how it ends for the characters themselves. So it's not a real problem.
The viewer remembers and that's the whole point so it's not hypocritical as a all. Also Mewtwo doesn't forget and was the one who really needed to learn this lesson cause it is the central character. There is actually a less known movie also numbered as the 4th movie that is the sequel to this movie where Ash and his friends meet Mewtwo once again, making them remember their first encounter anyway so they actually remember in the end, definitely debunking the hypocrisy argument (which is only a detail in the grand scheme of things that doesn't change the message itself whatsoever). The point of The First Movie isn't to "manipulate" emotions but to call on your sensitivity around a tragic accident caused by an extreme clash between living beings because of reasons that are truly futile before the tragedy of death. No matter their differences, original or clone, they're equal in regard of death. This is in that that the point of the climax resting on Ash's death is important and makes perfect sense for the movie, to reach beyond the differences of both clans. The nature of your origines doesn't matter. That's the message of the movie. The viewer can totally accept the message if they actually gets it, which actually has nothing to do with fighting itself but rather the legitimacy of giving importance to our differences. Exactly what Nurse Joy says: "Pokemon aren't supposed to fight LIKE THIS". Fighting is just a byproduct of legitimacing our differences. The convenience of Ash's revival is also legitimated by the realization of the pokemon's mistake to give so much importance to their differences and their desperate want for being forgiven which is heard, sending the message that it's not too late and there is hope if you still want to change from the bottom of your heart. It's pretty clear by now since years that fighting in the Pokemon world is treated like a sport. You can reject this view and take it as defending violence but the thing is it has nothing to do with the actual message of the movie itself. So of course in the TV show pokemon will still keep fighting. That's the whole point of the show after all. Despite the fact the 3rd movie's message plays on the franchise' strengths, its problem can't be underestated. The characters don't learn anything and the main character only regains her initial situation without really doing anything by herself. The entire movie is based on a mindless menace which is the unowns that permit the entire movie to even exist, which isn't very credible in the first place. The emotional implication is also defused by the fact Molly finds her dad again at the end anyway as well as her mother who actually has never been dead, making her pass for a trouble maker child to say the least. Also the fact Entei in the movie isn't even real heavily hurts the credibility of its character and makes it look hypocritical. The entire story of this movie inevitably gives it a very narcissistic and selfish message that doesn't really reflect the valor of exchange the franchise defends as well as a reduced scale gravity. The 1st movie goes far beyond that in its thematics and transcends its own show to make it a memorable movie of its era rather than just a very good kids movie.

tbh... the lions have NO chance whatsoever. first of all: yveltal. literally kills everyone but pokémon like dialga and arceus. second of all: 1 billion isn’t that much, i mean there are trillions of things on this planet. 3rd, most of the lions would just kill each other. how tf are they gonna telepathically communicate and work together? 4th, what can a lion do against a flying type spamming hyperbeam? roar? they have no chance at all, the pokémon WILL win.

Destiny Deoxys? Absolutely. Heroes? Idk..I feel like it should be lower. Like B tier. It was good, but not amazing.
I find Heroes very meh honestly. A big part of it is just running in the city, Brock and Misty are absent during almost the entirety of the movie, pretty bad visually and a step back compared to the 4th one. At least the end is very sad and emotional and there is action during this part but the rest of the movie feels boring to me. I find Destiny Deoxys quite good though and usually underrated.
There was some weird shit in the movies for sure. From the Unown illusions, the living rock tree thing, the water-controlling superweapon, to Celebi's wood monster thing.
They eventually carried it over into the main anime too in Kalos, IIRC, with the whole rock Zygarde thing.

I genuinely love Pokemon the Movie 2000. The villain was kinda lukewarm but he was serviceable. The adventure though was great.
And Pokemon 3... Man I didn't actually appreciate it until I was way older. It actually has a lot of nuance in it that went right over my head.

Pokémon the Power of Us was a great movie, but I still kind of hate how they strayed away from the main universe in the anime when it comes to the movies. I really wanted more XY movies, and I wanted a Sun/Moon movie with the Alolan gang. We got robbed of all Sun and Moon movie content

Just so you know the first three Pokémon was in theaters while Pokémon 4Ever had a limited release.... Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea was more of a May movie which was kind of cool.....What cool is that Pokémon: I Choose You! set in an alternate timeline, follows the journey of Ash Ketchum and Pikachu with two more sequels in that timeline The Power of Us and Secrets of the Jungle. How you going judge a movie by a trailer without watching the whole movie😂 lol.
Deoxys is a cool first alien Pokémon that premiered in the franchise and was born in a crystal.

27:13 "There is a shiny one" Totally missed that there is basically 3 shiny legendaries in the Zoroark movie lmao. Also, having seen every movie until the 21th:
The 4th is definitely SO much better than the 5th, pretty meh honestly. You learn that Sammy is frickin prof Chen. Compared to Ash being kissed by a Latias, yeah, definitely not as crazy. Also the Zoroark one is quite good + the story is a bit emotional. The Darkrai one really is one of the best, definitely worth S tier. The Diancie one, absolute dogshit, you're waiting for an epic battle between Yveltal/Death VS Xerneas/Life the whole movie and as soon as Xerneas arrives, Yveltal leaves. The Magearna one, quite good, the pokemon are developped as characters with a past. The Hoopa one is full fan service. The Keldeo one, just bad story + Keldeo is a bad character.

It's not that unknown since she doesn't say a word (just like the Latias humanoid form) and Ash and Latias shared a much stronger bond during the movie than Ash with the actual girl.
@@kyurei4478 It is unknown since the movie never confirmed it and every creditable wiki states it as such. Were shown that Bianca left her hat behind when she had been wearing it the entire movie. It would be stupidly easy for her to simply not talk and create confusion for Ash's friends on who actually kissed him.
Also the girl is shown to have some small fatigue from a short run which is something that Latias never showed previously after being chased.
Lastly the song before the kiss is called Canon(music) which is similar and pronounced the same as Bianca's Japanese name of Kanon (sound of flower).
It isn't unknown as I said since it's rather easy to guess it's Latias, whether the movie itself confirmed it or not. The creditable wikis naturally only state it as it is in the movie, which doesn't change anything about the point. It would also be stupid for Bianca to not talk at all simply to create confusion for Ash and his friends on who actually kissed him, making it pretty obvious. Also as already said, Ash and actual Bianca's bond wasn't strong.
Latias has also never been shown needing to be fast enough to meet someone in time in human form, making it irrelevant.
Beside that, this song is often used in this movie in the scenes where Ash is chasing Latias and when they're running in Alto Mare. So this song is used when Latias is on screen and in the scenes.

That would require ignoring the creator's intent of this scene being ambiguous as if they wanted to make it latias they could have easily done so but instead decided to make a "up to the viewer" type of situation with either option not being 100% certain. It also doesn't take much for girls in the anime to fall for Ash especially if he saves them. Macy for example goes from immediately disliking Ash to "lets plan our future together" in no time flat after Ash saves her and her Pokemon.

Being fast enough wasn't the point? it was the fact she was out of breath in the first place which makes it less likely it would be Latias since she never got tired before and has easily ran for longer without showing any signs of fatigue.
Incorrect on the song usage since its used for both Latias and Bianca in the movie. Its used in the first half of the movie whenever Ash doesn't know the difference yet between Bianca and Latias since it does play when Ash chases after the real Bianca in the museum. Thus this is why the song is called "mystery girl (labyrinth)". A shorter version of this song plays again at the end of the movie but they instead name this song Canon even though anyone can tell its the "Mystery girl Labyrinth" song and it would be the the only song where the name wouldn't have anything to do with what was on screen.

You got to see it someday. I also got a lot of movies in my DVD collection. I got nostalgic kids shows and movies too. Maybe you and I can watch the Pokémon series together as best friends. I grew up with the black and white movies, so I really enjoy those ones, but I will say the idea is dumb and objectively they’re not very good, I just really like them
