I lived on the Sunshine Coast and had four very large Bunya trees loved them. I hope the new owners of the property have kept them. loved the history, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing, loved the whole idea. The folklore attached to this fantastic species should be treasured as much as the trees. Best wishes from Ireland.
We managed to get a couple of Bunya seedlings - legally etc and have them growing near Townsville... they grow alongside Norfolk Island Pines and Hoop Pines [at least I think they are], we also have a couple of Kauri Pines in our Rainforest patch.
Here in the southern region of Brazil we have Araucaria angustifolia. Very similar to A. bidwilii. During the winther people and animals like to ate the pine seeds. It was also very important for the native peoples of where i live.
Aunty Bev seems amazing! What a wonderful way to celebrate and pass on culture to younger generations x

So glad to see this reminder, I thought it was only every 3 or 4 years and I didn't want to miss it! ❤️🖤💛

Que incrivel! Aqui no Brasil, na região sul temos uma especie muito semelhante de araucaria! Mas as pinhas são menores utilizamos muito na culinaria!
Nice!
Huge. How many years do they take to produce the nuts?
There in NSW as well, aren't they?
yes but they're just old planted specimens
